Okay, so the lake may not actually be full of cranberries (sorry to burst your bubble), but it is awesome in so many other ways, as you’ll learn when you camp in the Lower Loop of this gargantuan ‘ground! Organized into two loops, actually, this area is filled mainly with standard sites, with a few ADA spots sprinkled in, that kindly offer a table, a stove, and restrooms and drinkable H2O not far off. Snuggled up between North Beach, West Beach, and the aforementioned lake, this forest-dwelling campground is purdy popular—we rec you make a reservation!

We are pet friendly. Well behaved dogs can be off leash this vacation The nearest towns are Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Victoria B.C., and Sequim where you’ll find restaurants, wineries, and more. The nearest attractions are Olympic National Park, Hurricane Ridge, Olympic Discovery Trail, Ferry Dock to Victoria B.C., Lake Crescent, and Hoh Rainforest where you can enjoy activities such as: boating, fishing, wildlife viewing, winter activities, hiking, biking, etc. Also, you can ride directly from the campsite to some fabulous mountain biking trails at Dungeness Trails. PLEASE NOTE, Both sites are equipped with an additional RV parking spot right on the river with 30 amp power and Wifi for an additional $45.00 per night. Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

It is recommended you check the flight schedule for dates and times the jets will be flying. Depending on the direction they happen to be flying that night, it can get quite loud. In those instances, ear protection is recommended. About a third of summer weekdays the OLF is used. The jets do not fly on weekends and holidays. Having said all of this, most campers enjoy the airshow, as it is a unique opportunity. The camp site is approximately 6 acres located in a quiet secluded forest area near highway 525. A fire pit is provided on non-burn ban days. A flat grassy area is big enough to enjoy your recreation activity of choice. Bring your binoculars and check out all the different kinds of birds. Nearby wetlands provide lots of food for birds, bats, and dragonflies. Other wildlife you may see are deer, bunnies, owls, quail, butterflies, garter snakes, and raccoons. Lots of native flora can be identified with your plant identification app or book. The beach is about a mile away where you can hunt for sea glass and enjoy the waves or build yourself a shelter out of driftwood. The mostly flat gravel road can accommodate any size RV. 10 minutes to Coupeville, Greenbank Farm, Ebey's Landing, Port Townsend Ferry, and Patmore Pit Dog Park. 20 minutes to Freeland 25 minutes to Oak Harbor 30 minutes to the Clinton-Mukilteo Ferry 35 minutes to Deception Pass What you will need to bring: - firewood; apologies but I am unable to continue providing firewood. - self-contained RV, camper van, motorhome, or camping gear - water - grill or rack for fire pit - camp chairs/table - mosquito repellent - flashlights - recreation equipment Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash and in the presence of the owner at all times. Excessive barking will not be tolerated. Quiet hours start at 10:00 pm and no loud parties will be allowed. Up to 8 hip campers at a time. The Guemes North Homestead is ten acres of gorgeous tall trees, clearings, homestead buildings, pond, trails, renewable energy gear, and more, set in the middle of the north end of Guemes Island (a 7-minute ferry from downtown Anacortes), at the end of a 1/3-mile dead-end driveway. It has nature, quiet, and privacy. It includes a 30-year-old orchard, a developed garden with fine soil, a pond with rope swing and waterslide, several solar and wind energy systems, and multiple buildings. It's about a mile in two directions from the Pacific Ocean beach, and is surrounded by wooded acreage that is criss-crossed with trails and friendly neighbors, on an island with about 700 year-round residents and an active weekend/summer population. Homestead owner Ian Woofenden is an expert in renewable energy systems. He's lived off-grid at the homestead for 40-plus years, where he raised his large family and managed several small businesses. He now consults, sells, writes, and teaches about renewable energy in the U.S. and in Central America. If your idea of a great getaway is to help out and do physical work, just ask Ian. There's always something going on at the homestead, including garden and orchard work, trail building, wood cutting, construction, sawmilling, and more. Ian built this place, and has a broad knowledge of lots of homestead and sustainability topics. He loves sharing his knowledge and experience with guest, students, and interns. Quick reminders: NOT a party spot. The homestead goes silent from 9 PM to 8 AM. Not a place for lots of car trips in and out. Bikers can ask for 25% discount code (or use bike listing). Earplugs are a must! The nearby naval air station runs maneuvers frequently... those jets are LOUD. I was fortunate to not have many jets fly over in the middle of the night, but the evening was intense.
