Cades Cove Campground is set in the heart of one of Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s biggest attractions—the resplendent Cades Cove valley. Surrounded by deciduous trees and mountain peaks, this 159-site campground is open year-round with numerous hiking trails to waterfalls, peaks, and scenic views nearby. Campers can also find some of the park’s best biking and equestrian areas. RV and tent sites at Cades Cove Campground include picnic tables and fire rings, and the campground also features restrooms, a dump station, and a camp store with food, ice cream, and bicycle rentals. No campsites come with individual hookups or shower access.

Tips for Snagging a Campsite Reservation

  • All Cades Cove campsites are reservable six months in advance. You can make a reservation online or by calling (877) 444-6777.
  • Cades Cove is a popular campground, and is often full during summer season and October, when fall foliage peaks.
  • During the winter season (December to early April), Cades Cove Campground only operates about 50 of its campsites.

    • When to Go

    Spring visitors to Cades Cove Campground may be blessed with wildflowers and full strength waterfalls, plus the area is known to host synchronous fireflies during their late May mating season. Summer visitors enjoy warm temps in the 80s and long days to hike, but campgrounds are typically full during this time. Fall is gorgeous, with deciduous tree leaves changing colors in September and October. Rain and cold nights are possible year-round, and winter visitors should be prepared for cold weather camping and possibly driving on snow and ice.     Low Meadow Farms (formerly Brown Bike Farms) is a serene four-acre meadow bordered by Burnett Creek. The campground is an easy distance to Downtown Knoxville and an even easier access to all that South Knox's Urban Wilderness has to offer. It uniquely offers a hint of backcountry camping without the 25-mile hike in. It is a great way to test the waters for primitive camping or an easy stop close to the city for a seasoned traveler. It is best suited for car camping, RVs, tent, and hammock camping. There are fire pits and picnic tables at each site with enough room for tents and RVs. Most sites have trees suitable for hammock camping all along the creek. There is potable water, firewood for sale, solar showers, and a bike wash stand all next to the covered communal area. Each standard site can accommodate 2 people to keep space between groups and lessen the impact on the land. Sites 10 and 13 can each accommodate 6 guests. If you have more in your group, we recommend reserving an adjoining campsite. Sites 1, 2 and 3 are off the main path to the left of the property, and still by the creek. Sites 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are all along the creek and gravel drive Site 10 is very private with creek access on three sides. Site 11 is private with creek access all along the front. Site 12 is up high on a hill, and Site 13 is open in the middle of the meadow.

In downtown Tellico Plains, you will also find Tellico Grains Bakery, Tellico Goods and Gear, Tellico Outfitters, The Bookshelf bookstore and other shopping options. The Blue Line Grill is also a delicious option if you are looking for a good burger. If you are looking for adventure in nature in the Appalachian Mountains, the Cherohala Skyway, Indian Boundary Lake, Bald River Falls, Tellico River, Big Bear tubing, Citico Creek, and other scenic waterfalls and hiking trails are a short drive away. The Lost Sea underground cave and lake adventure is a 24 minute drive, Fort Loudon State Historic Park is a 36 minute drive, and the Blue Ridge Mountains are located nearby as well. If you are looking an adventure in the city, Knoxville is located an hour drive east and Chattanooga is located an hour drive west. Pigeon Forge is located 1.5 hours away, Gatlinburg is located 2 hours away, Cades Cove is located 2 hours away, and Newfound Gap and Kuwohi (Clingman’s Dome) in the Great Smoky Mountains are located about 2.5 hours away. Bryson City, NC is located 2 hours away. There is so much to do if you are looking for an adventure! Access the Starr Mountain Camp entrance off Mecca Pike, just west of Daugherty Springs Rd across from Shady Grove Church and Cemetery and one-way pull through exit onto Daughtery Springs Rd at the end of your stay. Site 1 is situated on the top level layout and ideal for larger campers and trailers. Site 2 and 3 are situated on the middle level layout and ideal for mid-sized campers and trailers. Site 4, 5, and 6 are situated on the lower level layout and ideal for mid-sized and smaller-sized campers and trailers. There is no community bathhouse. All ages are welcome. Pets on leash are welcome. Check in time is 11 AM and Check out time is 4 PM but ask the host if you need accommodations on check in or check out timing. Quiet period between 10 PM and 7 AM and peace and rest for all is a priority at our mini camp. Host family asks that you keep the property in the same state that you found it, so please pick up your trash and animal droppings. Please do not chop down any trees or branches or affix anything foreign to them and do not leave any items in the creek. There are no fish in the property creek but Tellico River is ideal and just a short drive away. Vehicle parking is located just off Site 1 on the Mecca Pike side so you can enjoy an unobstructed view mountain view. One vehicle is recommended but ask host for accommodations if a second vehicle is needed. About your Host: Starr Mountain Camp is family operated and lives on the property. The Newman family hosts have a deep love and respect for our savior Jesus Christ, the United States of America, and public safety service. Your Host's have a combined public safety service of 30 years. A peaceful and quiet stay for our guests is a host priority. Active and retired law enforcement officers are welcome for a well-deserved restful stay!!! Host is available at all times by text or call. The entire property is oriented toward private farmland views, a half mile of river and surrounding mountains. It's really quite remarkable to be so accessible yet feel so remote! Come swim, fish, cook and play! PLEASE NOTE, our rate is based on the number of vehicles in your group. The first vehicle is included in the nightly rate and admits 4 campers. WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL CARS. The charge will be added to your booking once you select the number of vehicles at checkout. Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. If you only have two cars but more than eight people, YOU MUST select the "Extra Person" Extra for each night they are camping. Please select these extras at checkout. If you have questions about this PLEASE message me prior to booking. Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too! All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites. Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets.     Please read the entire listing because I have updated this page. The booking is for 2 people, any guest after the initial 2 or pet will be $10 per night. Add them as extra guests Pull down a paved road and get out of your car and sit down at a picnic table in front of a private waterfall! This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends! We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.   No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead  If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit. There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. If your into that they would love to have you come down. The EBCI opened a dispensary around 3 miles from the campground. It will open to all adults over 21 starting September 7th 2024. Camp LeConte is a family owned and operated campground since 2013. Ian and Linzy Nicely, and their three children, are happy to have a family business where they can share the love of nature, mountains and Gatlinburg with all their guests. Ian is a lover of all things outdoors. Mix that with Linzy's style and love of decorating and that's Camp LeConte. A glamorous camping destination where you can stay in a luxury tree house, European safari tent or a 1960's retro camper. Bring your own RV or camper and stay in one of our full -hook up sites with 20, 30 and 50 amp service, water, sewer, cable and free wifi. Maybe you are wanting your kids to pitch a real tent (just like you did when you were their age!). We offer primitive tent sites for those of you who really want to rough it!

    Smokie Bears are Everywheres
    Hiking the Appellation Trail, stayed in Cades one night. The Smokies are incredible. I’ve been back twice since my first trip.

    The popular eleven mile Cades Cove one-way scenic drive is near this campground. We were prepared to see some wildlife but to no avail. :(

    The group sites were amazing and super reasonable! We had a group of 8 and were able to reserve (non-group sites are first come first served) a group site during spring break for about the same cost as 2 single sites.

    We spent a few nights here while exploring the park over Memorial Day Weekend. It was busy, but the campground was still very quiet. The facilities are nice, but there are no showers available anywhere in the park. It was not cheap... $22/night, but it was a really convenient location.

    Cade's Cove is a classic spot to camp in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. It is the most visited National Park in the US for a reason! Stunning waterfalls, breath-taking hikes, and gorgeous views are but minutes away from this family friendly camping site. Growing up only a few hours from this plethora of hiking, my family would backpack in the fall and enjoy the beautiful cove in the summer. Hidden conveniently near the edge of park gives you quick access to "civilization" but also to some of the most diversified fauna in the United States. If my memory serves me correct most sites are priced around $12-18 a night for tent camping and offer everything you might need to enjoy your getaway.
