Hanscombe Point Plantation is a 300 acre working farm that has been in the Legare family for 9 generations. We raise beef cows, heritage breeds of pigs, laying hens, and water buffalo. Additionally, we raise vegetables and do a lot of agri-tourism including: summer camps, school field trips, and a large pumpkin patch maze each year.Our accommodations include a vintage camper, primitive campsites along a salt water creek, and an RV area on our farm.We are located just 30 minutes from nearby beaches and downtown Charleston. Use our property as your base of operation as you have fun at the beach or tour the historic city, or just stay for a quiet get away in the woods.There is also a lot of wildlife such as: wild turkeys, woodstorks, raccoons, and alligators. Hi, I'm Curt. My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are your average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment. We are trying to figure out if a family can use their own hands and some grit to handcraft a life that you don't need a vacation from. Or better yet, that you would vacation to. Have we done that? You be the judge.
Years ago we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between some of the old fashioned world that we'd found ourselves missing, and the handful of modern advancements that were actually beneficial. All this, while keeping it classy ;-)
At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique cabins, using solar energy, and composting organics. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and in better harmony with nature. Ani and I are big believers in being mindful and respectful of our environment wherever reasonable.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" small living can feel. To be completely transparent, though, the creative inside us would also like to inspire onlookers. We've personally found it to be super fulfilling to distinguish our real desires and needs, from the ones we've been groomed to pursue. It's invigorating to then customize our path-less-traveled life. How cool it would be to have been a positive memory along another person's journey.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate some of our old-fashioned ways. but our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm.

The farm was once a portion of the McTureus Plantation. Tony's family members were once enslaved on the plantation. Upon Emancipation a family member bought land and it remained in the family. Tony is a descendant of those family members whose foresight allowed us to be here today. Tony's parents entrusted the care and preservation of the property to us and we are doing our best to be good stewards and teach the value of this property to our children and young grandchildren.

Mermaid Cove is a fully enclosed, Florida-style tropical getaway in a quiet neighborhood in historical Old Savannah, Georgia. The yard is approximately 884 square feet.
A tropical adventure awaits in this unique themed experience—why stay somewhere boring? Our renovated 1960s-era travel trailers are fully furnished, making them an excellent retreat for a single traveler or a couple. Our newly constructed full restroom is now complete and ready for use.
Utilities and a weekly cleaning fee are included in the price.
The location is within a 2 to 3-minute walk of several restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. These include Aldi (2 min), Whole Foods (3 min), IHOP (2 min), Dave’s Hot Chicken (2 min), Target (5 min), Cava (3 min), Chase Bank (2 min), and Bank of America (6 min). Daffin Park, home of the popular Savannah Bananas baseball team, and other attractions are within a 4-minute walk.
We are also located near the seaside, only a 12-minute drive to Tybee Island, our local beach, and an 8-minute drive (or 12-minute bike ride) to the heart of Savannah's Historic District. The area is very bike-friendly. Thunderbolt, Georgia—Savannah's shrimp boat haven—is just a short hop away, including the Intracoastal Waterway, which is approximately 13 minutes via bicycle.
Amenities include a microwave, small refrigerator, external full toilet, interior standard toilet, coffee maker, hot shower, WiFi, and AC. The external toilet and shower rooms are heated during colder days. Two bicycles are also available for rental on-site.
Our space is designed for solo travelers and to accommodate those who may have allergies; therefore, we do not allow pets. It is very comfortable for singles and couples, but please note there is not enough space to accommodate families.

An incredible marsh front oasis. Beautiful sunsets, sunrises, and stars as far as the eye can see. A plethora of wildlife can be seen here. Don’t get too close to the pond, our resident alligator (Allen) is close to 9’ long! We also have active honeybee hives. Fireflies can be seen during the summer months. Bug spray is highly encouraged during warmer months.

I was the first person to purchase property here in 1995 in what is known as Moultrie Plantation. This is a private property community with its own private dirt road. The plantation is rich in Civil War history and people still find arrowhead 's, Civil war buttons and other Civil War related items on the dirt roads where the soldiers marched through the plantation. It is a quiet, peaceful neighborhood where owners enjoy the country life.

So many great views specially watching the morning sunrise. Constant breeze always going throughout the day, pet friendly just a wonderful experience overall. I would recommend renting spot 24.

Pack bug spray and sunscreen. Camping grounds were damaged from hurricane last year, so call and check before planning visit.
