Established in 1949, Sunnyvale Farm is a working family farm offering convenient, trail‑adjacent camping near some of Southeast Ohio’s best outdoor and university attractions. Located just minutes from the Bailey Mountain Bike Trail System, Ohio University, and the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, our sites provide an easy‑access base camp for RV travelers, cyclists, and guests eager to explore the region. The farm spans approximately 160 acres along the Hocking River, with a mix of open fields and forested hillsides. Our campground area is not secluded and is situated along a secondary state route, which makes it easy to find and navigate. While guests may notice daytime traffic, the area is generally quiet overnight and well‑suited for active visitors who plan to spend their days exploring and return to rest in the evening. Guests are welcome to enjoy the farm—visit our friendly goat, walk down to the river for fishing, pick seasonal fruit (blackberries ripen in late summer), or hike the surrounding hills and woodlands. Informal walking paths are available, with additional trails planned as the farm continues to evolve.

Firefly Forest is a working family farm located on 75 acres in beautiful Athens County Ohio. We raise goats, sheep, waterfowl, poultry, and livestock guardian dogs. Guests will have access to miles of hiking trails, two ponds, viewing areas for our homestead's many different species of livestock, picnic areas, fire pits, star gazing areas, and more. Or bring a friend and rent one site in conjunction with some of our other sites. you can even split up your camping trip with a night in our backcountry camp site. Located in the rolling Appalachian hills of Southeast Ohio. This farm has been in our family since 1869 when our relatives settled here from Germany. Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location. We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.

Our little campground began as Bailey Wayne Bike Camp. In 2023 we learned that Wayne National Forest wanted to drop "Wayne" from its name, so we decided to rename our campground and campsites in memory of Raleigh and Blue, two wonderful dogs who we wish were still with us. This area was once a booming coal mining town in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The hollow was made up of hundreds of company homes, several mines, and other company buildings. As the mines died, the forest slowly took over. In the 1980s the National Forest began acquiring ownership. Today, we are just a stone's throw from the new Baileys Trail System. My wife and I have been biking for years; we've spent a lot of time camping and biking in OH, KY, WV, and NC. We primarily ride gravel routes on our tandem mountain bike around Athens and Washington Counties in Ohio. Our property is 3 acres, which offers enough room to open up a couple primitive campsites so we can share the peacefulness of the forest.

The Werry's Secret Resort is set in the woods on the Hocking River. The peaceful surroundings are found on a secluded township road half mile from the main highway. Reservations at the Werry's Secret Resort include the entire camping area and are not shared with other guests. If you plan to RV camp, van camp, pull behind, etc., the picnic shelter house location will work best for you. If you plan to tent camp, the riverside is also an option for you. To access the riverside, there is a short walk through the woods. There are no hook-ups and the camping on the river side is primitive. The site includes a picnic shelter with picnic tables, a cooking fire ring and a bonfire ring. There is also a swing set for children.

Start your mornings with a quiet walk to the highest point of the property, where sightings of deer and wild turkey are common. Bordering Wayne National Forest, the property provides immediate access to public land. And is- 2 minutes to Baileys Trail System 30 minutes to Old Man’s Cave 20 minutes to Lake Hope State Park 20 minutes to Ohio University 20 minutes to Lake Logan 20 minutes to Rockbridge Antique Mall In Nelsonville you can stroll the Public Square, visit local shops and eateries, or catch a live performance at Stuart’s Opera House, a beautifully restored venue that hosts concerts and events year-round. No access from Happy Hollow Rd. as construction is in progress. Access property from Pancake or Lang Rd. The landing where parking and the main camp area is 100x25ft not including the picnic table, fire pit, and tent pad. It’s not ideal for large campers or fifth weeks as there is no pull through. There is 55ft of room for backing up and getting turned around to get back down the drive way. If that isn’t enough space then just be very confident in your backing skills as you will have to back down/up the drive way which isn’t perfectly straight. Feel free to message us if you have additional questions. Again we would love to have you, we only ask you take all trash with you at the end of your stay, no hunting or shooting firearms on the property, no loud music, and leave some firewood for the next camper.
