Fourmile Lake’s four campsites are easily reached by car, and the lakeshore even has two additional backcountry sites that you can boat to. If you’re looking for rustic, you’re probably already familiar with what’s on offer: no trash pickup (pack it all out!), no potable water (supply your own, or treat any lake water before drinking!), outhouses, and all that jazz. The lack of amenities totally adds to the charm of this place, too. Fishing is a popular pastime, and the boat ramp and pier make getting into the water a breeze. But if you aren’t having much luck here, you can cruise on over to Toohey Lake, which is a mere mile away.

Site: ***2024 Update - The hillside campsite is now cleared and available for tent camping. Driveway has been extended (now 115 feet long) , two firepits have been constructed (one at end of driveway & one on hillside campsite) and picnic table on site. We are currently accepting bookings for Spring/Summer/Fall of 2024. A 10 acre secluded forest site nestled between Lake Superior and the Sawtooth Mountains. This is a single site property; enjoy complete privacy during your booking dates. Property is primitive and dense with trees/ground cover. 115 feet of cleared driveway is best spot for RV set up; levers likely needed as driveway is gravel is uneven in spots. Tent camping with firepit on hillside campsite. Second firepit at the end of the driveway. Hiking/Biking Options: There are no marked trails on the property. For guests interested in hiking we recommend: 1) The 310 mile Superior Hiking Trail easily accessible at multiple locations throughout Grand Marais OR 2) The Woods Creek Superior Hiking trailhead approximately 1 mile from property; parking lot at trailhead. Biking not possible on site but nearby gravel roads are an option for advanced riders or bikers looking for a challenging ride. Welcome to Peaceful Place. We lived in this beautiful cabin full-time through all the seasons while we built our home nearby. We decided to share our love of the land with visitors who appreciate the boreal forest. The cabin sits along Myhr Creek. Our brother-in-law says, “Everywhere you look is a postcard.” Over the years, we’ve watched moose, wolves, bears, foxes, deer, otters, and beavers. We’ve also been visited by the occasional pine marten and have followed the tracks of lynx. As is the case with wild animals, we never know when we’ll experience an encounter and can’t promise you’ll see any during your stay. We hope your time here provides a restful experience in the Northwoods. A few maintained walking trails begin just outside your door. We are located 2 miles from Hwy 61 on County Road 69. The entrance to Judge C.R. Magney State Park and its many hiking trails is about 3 miles away. If you head east instead, Grand Portage State Park—with pristine waterfall views—is about a 20-minute drive. We are located on the eastern end of Cook County, Minnesota, where you’ll have access to numerous hiking trails, as well as opportunities to rent canoes from local outfitters and paddle the area’s many beautiful lakes. Access to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is not far from the cabin. It’s about an hour along the Arrowhead Trail to Lake McFarland, where you can paddle the lake or hike the Border Route Trail. Lake Superior is also a short drive away, where you can take in the grandeur of the Big Lake. After a full day of adventure, Grand Marais and its shops and restaurants are just 20 minutes away.

Please note: There's no electricity on the property...This is a rustic off-grid experience designed for those who enjoy unplugging and embracing nature. If you're looking for a luxury getaway with all the conveniences of modern living, this may not be the right fit. However, if peace, privacy, and the outdoors are what you're after, you'll feel right at home. FAQ How remote is the property? — The property is easily accessed just off Hwy 3 on a maintained gravel/dirt road. You're only 9 minutes from the shores of Lake Superior and downtown Beaver Bay. Exploring the property? -- Feel free to explore anywhere on the property but do so at your own risk. There's no hunting or trapping on the property. Garbage - There is no garbage service. Please pack out all your garbage and bring it with you.
