Welcome to Peaceful Place. We lived in this beautiful cabin throughout the seasons and full time while we built our home nearby. We decided to share our love of the land with visitors that love the boreal forest. The cabin resides along Myhr Creek. Our brother-in-law says “everywhere your look is a post card.” Over the years we've watched moose, wolf, bear, fox, deer, otters and beaver. We’ve been visited by an occasional pine Martin and followed the tracks of lynx. As is the case with wild animals, we never know when we’ll experience an encounter and can’t promise you’ll be visited by one of them during your stay. We hope your time here will provide you with a restful experience in the North woods. There are a few maintained walking trails that begin just outside your door. We are located 2 miles from hwy 61 on County road 69. The entrance to Judge Magney State Park and its’ many hiking trails is about 3 miles away. If you head East instead, the Grand Portage State Park with pristine views of waterfalls is a 20 minute drive. We are located on the East end of Cook County, MN. You have the opportunity to access numerous hiking trails along with opportunities to rent canoes from local outfitters and paddle for a day on the many beautiful lakes in the area. Access to the BWCA is not far from the cabin. It's about an hour on the Arrowhead Trail to Lake McFarland where you can paddle the lake or hike on the Border Route trail. Lake Superior is a short drive away and you can take in in the grandeur of the Big Lake. At the end of a full day adventuring; Grand Marais and it’s shops and restaurants are 20 minutes away.The cabin has a bright, colorful interior. It has a full kitchen and a 3/4 bathroom. Our water comes from a well on the land and is tested yearly to assure it’s purity. The cabin can easily sleep up to four people. The daybed on the porch opens up to a king size bed and a queen bed is located in the main room. Linens are provided. The cabin has large windows to provide opportunities for viewing the outdoors. Windows have coverings for privacy. Cabin is fully electrified and has a propane fire view fireplace. The cabin does not have air conditioning, Bring any outdoor gear you may need for the weather, planned activities, and the time of year. (Note: Lake effect breezes can be cooling.) The cabin offers you the opportunity to unplug from the busyness of your daily living. You won't be bothered by a landline phone or TV. We do not offer internet access. The cabin is a non-smoking venue and while we love dogs, we have two, we do not allow pets. Our home is nearby the cabin.
