The night skies above Finnon Lake will reveal stars unseen in California. Enjoy searching for bullfrogs, and watch the flock of Canadian Geese fly in right at sunset as the horizon blends into the watercolor sky. This private lake supports the Mosquito Fire Protection District's fire protection efforts and the firefighters of this community. Community volunteers manage the lake for the residents and the Fire Station. The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website. Finnon Lake is also home to a popular 27-hole disc golf course and Mosquito’s only restaurant, Smoke on the Water Diner, which is open on weekends only. 530-622-1060. There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

A great place to stay just outside of the park. Be near the park, but feel that complete privacy. These sites are very spaced out from each other and are large. No need to cram together! Explore the mines and hang out on our Groveland, California ranch! We have 824 acres on a beautiful cattle ranch with two small ponds. On our property, you'll find frogs, turtles, oak trees, pine trees and stunning views of Yosemite. We have several campsites to choose from including RV camping, tent camping, and a glamping tent. Pets are welcome. Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban. Potable water and toilet are available onsite. There's a golf course less than a mile away. We are also very close to town. In just a few minutes, you can drive to our local grocery store and pizza parlour. We are a 10-minute drive to Pine Mountain Lake. Beautiful Pine Mountain Lake offers golfing, dining, horseback riding, water sports and an airport. When you come to the ranch it feels like you are hundreds of miles away from civilization, but still close to everything you need. It is incredibly peaceful! This is a great place for someone who wants to escape city life and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. Much of the ranch is open wilderness for you to explore, and it's not uncommon to see deer, frogs, turtles, quail, turkeys, or other countless species of birds. Diamond Gulch Camp is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, family or a group of friends looking for a place to camp near Yosemite. A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. We're not far from Wards Ferry Road, Groveland, Lake Don Pedro and other interesting places.

All campsites have potable water spigots, 20 amps of electricity, and access to the river and cold/cool shower. Guests enjoy the ranch while swimming, floating, snorkeling, stream exploring, hiking, gold mine spelunking, forest immersion, birding, catch-and-release fishing for wild trout (excluding warmer water season from late June to mid-August), gold panning, or simply relaxing in a breathtaking environment – come fall in love with this special private ranch. After one stay, you will be a repeat guest. PLEASE NOTE: A 4-Wheel Drive vehicle or high clearance All-Wheel Drive vehicle is MANDATORY to access campsites 1, 2, 3, and 5 - while strictly 4-wd vehicles are MANDATORY to access site 6 due to the road incline and rock and gravel road surface. PLEASE PREPARE ACCORDINGLY. Campsite 4 is accessible with a 2-wd vehicle, but the steep and longer walk to the river and shower typically required an All-WD or 4-WD vehicle. Sites have beautiful open views of the property and river canyon with natural shade in the morning and late afternoon. Although shade structures have been constructed at Campsites 1, 3, and 4, the other sites are partially shaded by trees during portions of the day. Consider providing your own additional shade structure(s) as the direct sun can be an inconvenience at each site. Pets are limited to one large dog OR two small to medium sized dogs per campsite. There is a strict policy that all pet owners pick up waste from their dogs and that dogs be quiet, well-mannered, and under immediate control at all times so as not to disturb other campers. Please be aware that some wildlife species including rattlesnakes, skunks, mountain lions, and bears (very seldom) have been observed on the 117-acre property and could potentially be observed near the campsites. Each cabin is well insulated, includes fresh linens, and Rumpl blankets to keep you warm. Perfect for couples, small families, or close-knit friends, the cabin can be arranged as either two twin beds or a king-sized bed to accommodate up to four people. Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway under the stars or a no-frills glamping basecamp for Yosemite exploration, these cabins offer a mix of simplicity and comfort. Each A-frame is equipped with solar power for small device charging, a portable fan, and access to an odorless composting toilet (cabin 2,3) or a pottery (cabin 1) near the cabin. The cabins also have access to hot showers and flushing toilets across the highway at our sister property. It’s a true step off the beaten path and into a more immersive experience. The cabins include a bed, shelter from the elements, and solar-powered lighting and charging. Because this is a rustic glamping experience, the cabin doors do not lock. We are located in a quiet, remote setting, and guests should plan accordingly. • Cabin 1: Easily accessible for most vehicles. • Cabins 2 and 3: A bit more adventurous — AWD or 4x4 recommended during rain or wet conditions. Note that when temperatures in Groveland are above 90 degrees, the cabins do get quite warm. The best ways we have found to manage the heat is by leaving the doors open during the day (with the screen door closed), curtain closed, and fan on all day.
