Awarded South Dakota's best Hip Camp 4 times. Uncle B's farm is a small 11 acre hobby farm with a large vegetable garden, chickens, peafowl, guinea fowl, turkeys, dogs, and cats. There is an old quarried stone railroad bridge and a few short walking trails around the pond. The pond is at the back of the property where I have 6 dry camp sites listed as Uncle B's farm for tents or self contained RV's. All sites have partial to full shade and most have mature trees that will work for a hammock or tensile tent. All of the campsites have a firepit, some with cooking grates and all sites have a picnic table. The "shower shack" is shared by all guests and has 2 separate 3/4 baths with all modern plumbing. There is also a basic outdoor kitchen with a few portable grills as well as a sink with modern plumbing. Available at Uncle B's RV Camper site I have 3 RV sites with water and 30 Amp electrical hookups. My "Ready Set Camp" listing is a dome tent set up and furnished with 4 cots, table, and lamp as well as a match ready fire. The Barn loft apartment is a studio apartment with a small galley kitchen and private bath. The Hippie Bus is new for the 2025 season and offers a trip back in time. Uncle B's farm has been voted Best Hip Camp to see in South Dakota for the 4th time and placed 2nd in the nation in 2022. Come see why...

Voted the Best Hip Camp to visit in South Dakota 4 times ... Quiet 11 acre Produce/hobby farm 8 miles south of Interstate 90 and 23 miles west of Sioux Falls.  I really enjoy hosting and try and make sure everyone gets a little more than they expected. I try and offer farm fresh eggs, Smores fixin's, and produce from the garden. The chickens cant always keep up and its late summer before the garden hits it stride but depending on your timing you may get one or all of the above freebies.  There are 6 tent or self contained dry camp sites spaced out near the pond. each site has room for a medium sized RV however the 6 sites listed as Uncle B's farm do not have electricity or water. If you require hookups you will want to book one of the 3 sites listed as Uncle B's RV sites. Picnic tables and firepits are at all sites and an adequate amount of firewood is included with additional firewood that can be purchased. There is also a storm shelter available should weather warrant.  I mowed a short walking/hiking/biking nature trail around and through the property that winds around the pond and a small old quarried stone rail road bridge. A great place for a short stroll and to check out some of the wildlife that frequent the pond.    The shower shack is fully functional with two complete 3/4 bath rooms. next on the list is a screened in "clubhouse and eventually a basic outdoor kitchen but for now there is a utility sink that can be used for dishes.   Lake Vermillion State Park is 6 miles away with swimming, fishing and paddling options. Thunder Valley Dragstrip in Marion is 10 miles away with weekend drag-racing. I-90 Speedway (dirt track) is about 20 miles and have 3 classes of stock cars on Saturday nights. The Ortman Chiropractic Clinic in Canistota is 6 miles. Sioux Falls and the Sanford Premier Center is about 25 miles. Great Pheasant hunting in every direction with public hunting area's near by.

Quiet 11 acre Produce/hobby farm 8 miles south of Interstate 90 and 23 miles west of Sioux Falls. A large garden and several pets including Dogs, Cats, Chickens, Peacocks, and Guinea's. Out back is a small pond frequented by a variety of birds and animals, ducks, geese, hawks, woodpeckers, owls, muskrat, and pheasants to name a few. This pond, while very low right now, has several fish and turtles you can feed.  I currently have 3 RV site's with electricity and water available. All 3 sites have a 30 amp electrical service and rural water and Wi-fi is available throughout the camp. Sites are spaced 50 feet apart and each site has a picnic table and firepit with a small amount of firewood included and additional firewood that can be purchased. I mowed a short walking/hiking/biking nature trail around and through the property that winds around the pond and a small old quarried stone rail road bridge. A great place for a short stroll and to check out some of the wildlife that frequent the pond. The shower shack has 2 separate 3/4 modern bathrooms with hot water showers and flushing toilets to be shared by all guests. Adjoining the shower shack is the "Clubhouse" and a basic outdoor kitchen with a sink and a few very used grills.  I have a large garden and often have extra produce to share depending on the season, past guests were offered tomato's, peppers, and squash along with farm fresh free range eggs all at no charge.  Lake Vermillion State Park is 6 miles away with swimming, fishing and paddling options. Rustic, Cozy, and Private studio apartment with a 3/4 bath and kitchen. The loft has a queen size bed, a gas fireplace for chilly nights and A/C for the hot ones. The barn loft was not used during the 2022 camping season and has since had new flooring installed and a plumbing issue resolved. The reviews from the 2021 seasons mention breakfast supplies that are no longer offered however there are a few basic pantry items and condiments as well as cookware and utensils.   The loft overlooks the barn yard and campground and is adjacent to the bird cages so the sound of roosters, peacocks, turkeys, and guinea fowl is to be expected. The lower portion of the barn is also home to dogs and cats and I did have one guest complain about the barn smell. Myself and 96% of my guests haven't had a problem with it but if you have a sensitive nose or are allergic to cats or dogs you should consider other accommodations.  I also offer 3 RV sites and 6 dry camp sites and they share a 2 stall bath house and a basic outdoor kitchen. At the rear of the property is a pond and some short walking trails that all guests are welcome to use... I will also be setting up a drive inn movie theater here at the farm this spring and with cooperative weather and enough interested campers show a movie around dusk... My tent sites won the Best Hip Camp for 2021 and 2023 and the loft will come with the same award winning hospitality.

Ready set camp is just that... a choice campsite set back into the cedars with all of the camping gear provided. a dome tent set up and ready to go with four cots, lamp, and alarm clock. There is a picnic table, firepit, and two chairs. With full access to the showers, bathrooms, and shared outdoor kitchen with cook-ware and utensils. All you need to provide is bedding and a love of nature.

the Hippie Bus

The Hippie Bus is a repurposed 1958 Superior Bus that was designed to take you back to the late 1960's to board a hippie bus traveling the country. It has a queen-sized bed in the rear and in the front a futon and table and chairs. But, and best of all is the onboard audio system, a turn of a knob and you can be playing some of the best "hippie music" from the late 60's and early 70's. Tie dye, a lava lamp, and some psychedelic lighting complete the groovy vibe. While the bus is pretty "Cool" It does not have air conditioning and can and will get hot in mid-summer. The bus does have a limited amount of solar power that will run a few fans provided with the bus. Also note this is still very much camping and bugs and uncomfortable temps are a definite possibility. The bus is parked in a large semiprivate meadowlike area a very short walk from the parking space with great views of both the sunrise and sunset. The site does have a firepit and outdoor seating and could accommodate several tents for a larger group So the site will allow bookings up to 20 people but only sleeping accommodations for 3 in the bus are included. The bus does not have a private bath or kitchen but you filthy hippies are encouraged to use the shower shack and outdoor kitchen roughly 200 feet from the bus. Long haired freaky people welcome.

We love tenting and we had the most beautiful spot in a clearing of his trees. It was quiet and Brian was the nicest guy. He even had a goodie bag for us when we got there! Bathrooms were clean. He had peacocks that came and visited us at our site which we loved they were beautiful. We hope to go back soon!!

We would definitely camp here again! I only wish we had spent more time enjoying Brian's beautiful property. Brian went above and beyond anything we've experienced at other campgrounds. He welcomed our family with thoughtful gifts for the kids and even had a s'mores goodie pack waiting for us. We loved how private our campsite was and how much space we had to relax and enjoy ourselves. There were so many fun, thoughtful touches throughout the property that made our stay extra special. We can't wait to come back!

A campground like no other

Brian has a gorgeous homestead with exotic birds, adorable kittens (available for adoption :) ), and playful dogs. I was upgraded to a yurt in the woods and enjoyed a comfortable stay. The bathrooms were clean and shower was warm. Golden yoke farm eggs. Be sure to take the guided tour of the property.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Uncle B's is one of the best Hipcamps we've stayed at, and it's easy to see why it's received so many awards. Brian has clearly put a tremendous amount of thought into creating an experience rather than just a place to camp. The property is welcoming from the moment you arrive. Every campsite has its own light, making it easy to find after dark, while motion lights along the walkways improve safety without taking away from the peaceful atmosphere. The pavilion is decorated with string lights, there are games to enjoy, and fun touches like the license plate displays and guest signature wall make the campground feel personal and memorable. The shower house and bathrooms were exceptionally clean, and the centrally located firewood station made everything convenient. We also loved seeing the ready-to-camp options, including furnished tents and the Hippie Bus, which are great for travelers who don't have their own camping gear. What impressed me most was the attention to detail. Nothing felt accidental—every feature seemed designed to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. As a fellow Hipcamp host, I left with pages of ideas and inspiration for improving our own campground. If you're traveling through the area, Uncle B's is absolutely worth the stop.

Not only is the property beautiful, but it is truly one of the best hip camps we ever stayed in, Also, Uncle B is the best host! The extras provided like having the fire ring all set with wood, the S'more package with the magnet and the fun stories and conversation made us want to stay longer at the Ready-set-campsite. Eggs, bathrooms, shower house, lights, gnomes (!) and bridge troll were perfect. We highly recommend Uncle B's Hip camp. If we ever come this way again, we would choose this place 100%.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was our second stay with Uncle B, & it definitely won’t be our last! The first time we visited was for my oldest daughter’s 15th birthday, & this year we came back to celebrate her 18th. This time we stayed in the Hippie Bus, & it was the perfect little groovy getaway. We had such a fun, relaxing weekend making memories together. Uncle B is truly one of the kindest hosts you’ll meet. You can tell how much he cares about his property & about making sure every guest has an amazing experience. We added the traditional s’mores kit, which was such a fun touch, & he even surprised us with some hippie sunglasses & other groovy goodies that made the stay even more memorable. The property is beautiful, peaceful, & full of charm. If you’re looking for a unique place to unwind, reconnect with nature, & make lasting memories, I can’t recommend Uncle B’s Hipcamp enough. Thank you again for helping make another birthday so special—we’ll definitely be back! ☮️✌️

Uncle B’s farm was an absolute dream to stay at! Brian is an absolutely amazing host, making sure you have everything you need and are comfortable on his gorgeous property! Our dogs also loved it and were able to roam around off leash which is so important for us as we travel with our 2 big dogs who love to explore. I cannot say enough good things about this site, the views are gorgeous, it’s peaceful, there are peacocks, chickens and other little creatures you get to see and visit with which is so cool! There are also 2 very clean, well kept cute bathrooms with hot water showers included. All in all I would give this place an 11/10. From views, to kind people, to tranquility…what more could you need!

We had a blast at Uncle Brian's! He met us when we pulled in and showed us around the property. There's a lot to explore with all the different types of sites he's created, but we were grateful for the shore power and close access to the bathhouse, which is very spacious. There's even an outdoor kitchen and some communal spaces available for hanging out and meeting other travelers. Highly recommend this spot -- and this host -- whether you're passing through or looking for a good home base.

Uncle B exceeded our expectations!! We stayed in the already set up tent which was tucked in the woods of the property. It was super spacious and very warm! Uncle B gave us a tour of the porperty and was very welcoming and friendly. The bathrooms and showers were clean and there was an area to cook too! There was Wifi, even in our tent, which was pretty remote (I'm still not sure how Uncle B made that work). Overall it was very enjoyable and I reccomend paying the extra money for the already set up tent! (It's a very good deal)

We got a flat tire on the way in and did not notice. Uncle B let us know that night... he got out his air compressor to fill it up so we could see how fast our tire was leaking. Then in the morning (early!! Like 7 AM) he got up and came over to help us. He ended up changing the wheel to our spare because neither me nor my partner knew how. This is so above and beyond what I would expect from a host and was heartwarming. He even recommended tire shops in Sioux Falls for us to get it fixed. The loft was dusty, but hey, it's a barn. The land itself is beautiful and there are many trails to explore. Uncle B gave us free firewood and s'mores and made us feel at home.

Simply a great, peaceful place to stay. A bucolic setting with lots of little farm animals around to keep you and (especially) kids entertained. Brian was such a friendly and helpful owner. I'm definitely coming back next time I pass through the Sioux Falls area.

The site was level and everything is close to the bathhouse. Brian is an excellent host, very friendly with lots of area recommendations. There are fun animal sounds to be heard (peacocks!). He gave us a s’mores kit upon arrival and we felt very welcomed. Highly recommend for the Sioux Falls area. About 30 minutes to Falls Park.

Brian was an awesome host. He clearly has a genuine passion for what he does and for the people he welcomes to his property. We had a great stay, and his outstanding reviews are absolutely well deserved. The setting was peaceful and quiet, making for a relaxing night by the fire. We also loved meeting all the animals—they were a highlight of our visit. The bathhouse was clean and well maintained, which made our stay even more comfortable. We'd definitely recommend staying here.

This was my second experience with Hipcamp, and I have to say that we were truly amazed by Brian’s hospitality and by all the work he has put into this place to make the experience enjoyable for his guests. I had an issue with my water pump, and Brian kindly lent me some tools, offered helpful advice, and did it all with a great attitude and a smile. He also gave me suggestions for routes to take and places to see during my trip. The showers and restrooms were spotless, and guests are even provided with s’mores supplies and firewood for a campfire. And what can I say about Yellowstone? Those who visit will understand. I highly recommend this place. My rating is 15/10.

I had such a wonderful time tent camping at Brian’s place! He was so welcoming when I arrived, showed me to my spot, gave me a tour of the property, and even shared some marshmallows for the night. He stopped by again to see how I was doing and really showed that he’s a fantastic host! I spent a peaceful night listening to the birds singing and truly enjoyed every moment at this farm. I highly recommend it for anyone traveling solo or with family! It’s a great spot, and I’m already looking forward to visiting again soon.
