Peaceful and enchanting. Very rustic and private. we are in the best part of the Illinois wilderness. Our woods transport you a world away, yet you are just a short walk from your vehicle and a short drive to Starved Rock, numerous parks, lakes, hiking, fishing and boating sites, stores, and restaurants. We have 4 well spaced campsites complete with fire pit, picnic table and a couple of chairs ready for you at your campsite. Rent 1 or rent them all! Just bring your tent or your hammock! Your initial firewood . lighter, trash and recycling cans, and firestarters are brought to your site before you arrive. Our "camp host" Tiller the big lovable doggo will patrol to scatter any trash pandas that might happen by. We keep track of him using GPS, so we know if He is hanging with you around the campfire. When his collar lights up and plays a tune, it's time for him to come home! Please send him on his way - thank you. We are LBGTQ+, LatinX and Very Family Friendly. Everyone is welcome here. Message us when you are 30 minutes out, so we can you our tractor to help bring your things to your site. Same at check out. Just let us know 30 mins before you are ready to go and we will help you pack out! Sorry you will not be able to drive your vehicle to your site. This keeps the woods quiet for all of our guests. Each site is just a few hundred feet from the parking area. The magical woods is located along the bridle trails behind our horse farm. Sorry, we do not offer trail rides as we have show horses. However you are welcome to arrange a visit to meet the animals when you arrive. We have horses, a miniature horse, a mule, miniature sheep and a very sweet goat named Hairy. There are about 50 chickens wandering the yard all day and we have 3 dogs and 3 cats that are always around. They are used to other dogs. At night we have a lovely lullaby of owls, night birds, insects and frogs. Sometimes you can even hear sounds from the Illinois River and railway a miles away. Barges, trains (not many) tug boats, and the interesting sounds that come with them. Listen carefully, can you tell them apart?

Our most popular site by far! Serene and beautiful surrounded on 2 sides by Bramble Creek and Golden Pond on the other. Level tent site with well spaced trees for hammocks. Romantic and quiet. Furnished with comfortable chairs, fire ring, picnic table and side table, trash and recycling containers, this is our most popular site and the most remote. Golden Pond is treated for mosquitoes regularly. It is a decorative pond, not suitable for wading, swimming or fishing. Koi, frogs and turtles make their home in Golden Pond. Local Wildlife stop by to drink, many deer roam the area. Upcoming events! Morels are in the woods - take all you like, but leave some for others At the edge of Bramble creek is a lovely hollow deep in the magical woods. The creek babbles and the leaves rustle and the crickets and tree frogs sing you to sleep. The songs of the woods will relax and restore you. The magical woods awaits you just behind our show horse farm. Tranquil. Peaceful. Beautiful. A world away is within reach. This is a Pack in Pack Out tent/hammock site and is not accessible by your vehicle. We do offer a service to bring your items to your site. You must notify us 30 minutes prior to arriving/leaving. Certain times this service is unavailable due to prior commitments. Just 20 miles from Starved Rock Maple, Beech, Ash and Oak trees surround this primitive site. A private spot for your small group to hang hammocks in the trees or level ground to pitch your tent. At the bluff atop Bramble Creek for you to have enjoy and relax. Owls and wild birds are plentiful. Frogs sing and wildlife scampers about. Plenty of seasonal wildflowers. On site hiking on the path adjacent to this site and plenty of nearby trails at the state and local parks. A Campfire ring and dry firewood is provided. You will feel the wonderful Illinois wilderness all around. Peace, quiet and relaxation. There is a spool table for cooking and a picnic table for dining and two chairs to relax in. Ask us for recommendations of other local parks and attractions in addition to Starved Rock, there are so many beautiful places to visit without the crowds. A Port A Potty toilet is at the trail head - please follow the instructions provided for the comfort of every guest.  Accompanied by a fully stocked hand washing station. Download the All Trails App for more places to hike in our beautiful part of Illinois. Your camp site will be cleaned, sanitized and stocked to your specifications before you arrive. Your site includes a Campfire Ring with a cooking grid, 2 camp chairs, a small spool table, picnic table, 1 bundle of dry firewood, fire starters and a lighter Golden Pond is treated weekly for mosquitos. And your site has been sprayed with the same spray they use at Disney World to keep the insects at a hopeful minimum.

Fantastic piece of land and fantastic people! It was quiet and beautiful, perfect kind of spot for cozy and secluded camping. Heidi couldn’t have been more nice and helpful, it was really a phenomenal experience. Can’t say enough good things, definitely try this out!

Easy to get to, great spot, tons of room. It's a horse farm with lots of friendly animals running around. (But the camping area is down a small trail and secluded). Heidi brought us fresh eggs in the morning and the roosters made sure we didn't over sleep and waste our day. I'd def come back here. Thanks

My friend and I had the best time here. Our campsite felt nice and private. We could spot a few other campers through the bare fall trees, but everyone was far enough away that it still felt peaceful. The walk from the parking area to the campsites isn’t bad at all. When we arrived, they even helped us bring our supplies to the site on a tractor. The wagon by the porta-potty was very helpful when we were packing up, although I’m sure we could have asked for help from the tractor, too. In the morning, I walked out to my car and saw all the horses grazing in the sunlight. It was such a serene moment, I almost forgot where we slept! We had big plans to go hiking in the nearby canyons, but honestly, we were having so much fun on the farm that we never left. The dogs, especially Tiller, were total sweethearts. Heidi was super friendly and gave us a tour of the barn and all the animals. She was so patient and kind, we had a lot of tour questions, especially about the barn cats! We bought firewood and fresh eggs from Heidi, and they were delivered right to our site, making everything feel easy and relaxed. We felt safe and welcome the entire stay--Tiller even curled up at our campsite for a while, keeping us company like a little protector, so sweet. Heidi and her family are awesome hosts, and we’re already talking about when we can come back!

We enjoyed our stay. The description was perfect and Heidi was very helpful in helping us take our gear to our site. We had a wonderful night's stay. The load of wood provided was really nice. The fresh eggs were a nice extra too!

We had a great time and would definitely come back. Lots of options for hammocks. It’s a pretty quiet area and an easy drive to nearby state parks. Enjoyed Tiller stopping by a few times to say hello. Heidi is super nice and available if you need anything.

My family and I loved camping on Heidi's land. It was our daughter's first time camping, she is 6 months old. They have dogs on their property and my daughter loved the pomeranian. All of their dogs were super friendly and great with our daughter. We had the camp site next to the ravine, very beautiful. The site was big, lots of space. Heidi and her husband were wonderful hosts! We definitely recommend the stay! The property was easy to find and we had good cell service.

Heidi was fantastic! She was welcoming, communicative, and had everything ready for us upon arrival. Also gave some great recommendations for local activities and food. The campground was very nice and well kept, and all the sites were outfitted for campers. Location was easy to find, and very close to Starved Rock and other points of interest.

A last-minute change of plans, we originally reserved Meadow's Edge, but Heidi offered to move us to a different site that was a better fit for our needs. Arrival instructions were clear, but you do need to read them. When you get to the (correct) driveway, there are a few buildings where the horses are tended, and the parking lot and campground are beyond. You drive past the buildings through a field, with horses on the left, until you reach the wooded area. An orange portapotty marks the campground entrance. The camp site had everything we needed for a night - picnic table, fire pit and accessories, space for a tent, and recycling/garbage bins. The walk from the parking area to our site was not far, but we took Heidi up on the tractor help at the start and used the cart provided when leaving, as we had some heavy things. Easy, private, clean, peaceful. There was some noise from surrounding area (distant music, truck noises), but not problem. Tiller visited us when we were packing up and what they say about him is true. Horses and chickens also very cool. Would recommend and would stay again.

Heidi has such a special spot! We had such a relaxing, fun time. Our site had everything we needed and more. Heidi was so helpful getting our stuff to our site for us and it was easy to walk stuff out with a wagon. The trails are clearly marked and easy to maneuver. It was an easy drive to many good hiking spots. We also love all of the animals! Tiller, one of the dogs, was a regular visitor and such a good boy! Our son loved going to visit the barn each day to visit the animals and Heidi was so welcoming in introducing us to the animals and showing us around. We will absolutely be back!

Heidi's welcome to our magical woods site was perfect for my family. There are a few sites, and their operation is smooth and feels visitor oriented. Heidi is very kind. The sites have the most useful basics. Trash and recycling, wood starters, lighters, and trash bags. There is a grill to drop over the firepit. The sites are all in heavily sided area, with no traffic sounds. We loved that it was not drive up, and the family helpfully and without hesitating carried our things via tractor. We had the pondside paradise space. We fit 7 people, 3 tents ama 3 hammocks. Note that each site has an entry and exit for the tractor. You have to adjust to camping across those wide paths. Our site may have been the most private, as we were at the end of the tractor road/path. The stream in the description is at the bottom of a huge green ravine. Heidi's family have tied a rope such that you can clamber down the ravine edge. The pond is lovely, albeit very small and slowly drying up. Despite being near water, there were no bugs, as Heidi had promised! It took some time to understand the path to the port-o-potty. Many of the other sites seemed to be closer or open to the tractor road. The overhead trees were glorious and we heard woodpeckers, coyotes, and possibly a wolf. Loved the barn cats, dogs, sheep, goat, chickens, mini horse and chickens. Tiller visited a few times too - A quiet, very gentle dog. 20-30 min from starved rock and mathiessen . Highly highly recommend!

Heidi was an unbelievable host! The sites are very happy private and pleasant to be in. I cannot recommend this spot enough, especially if you’re looking to enjoy all the national parks in the area. The proceeds that are made from these camping sites go towards the equestrian therapy that Heidi graciously runs. Everything about this place is loving safe and beautiful.

Although I did not stay at Bumpy's Hollow (something came up) the staff were extremely attentive, and easy to communicate with. The staff told me exactly what to expect from the experience. They gave me my refund back when I would not have with such short notice. I have know doubt I would have enjoyed myself.

Heidi is a great host! We stayed for just one night so that we could be close to Mathieson State Park. Our campground was comfortable and well-appointed. We stopped by her farm to visit her horses, goats, chickens, and other pets.

The place we stayed at was great and we had a ton of fun!! Heidi is such a sweet, kind host, she was a ton of help with getting our stuff back to camp! There’s an option for free camp games and she provides water, eggs, and other goodies. Overall great place and a great host with cute doggies!

What a lovely time! Heidi was a kind and friendly host, who got us packed in and out in a rain storm. The property is well maintained, with well thought out spaces for tents, hammocks and chill areas. Thank you for the firewood delivery (at a reasonable price), and the quick communication via the app! We had a great time onsite, a quick 25 minute drive to Starved Rock for a hike, and loved meeting the horses, goats, chickens and our new best friend, Tiller the pupper. Thanks, Heidi! Looking forward to next time.

Spectacular! Location: the campground itself was very well maintained, our group had 4 tents and we had plenty of room without feeling crowded but also still felt nestled in nature. At night you can see stars between the trees and even better, as it is summer, we saw fireflies twinkling in the trees! -it gets DARK, and it was very peaceful. Our host Heidi was amazing, she was very responsive, prepares the area to minimize mosquitoes, provides delicious eggs, and has a tractor to help carry things back and forth to the car. Everyone collectively fell in love with her dog Tiller and it is not far at all from starved rock. I only wished we booked a longer stay! The trail to the bathroom is clear and having stayed in the cleared areas we had no issues with ticks. There is adequate shade but morning was still very bright where we set up our tents.

We loved our stay this past weekend! The campsite was beautiful and clean, included firewood, hand sanitizer, fire starters, chairs, trash/recycle bins, fire pit and a picnic table! We loved having Tiller (doggo and camp host) come around and check in on us 🐾 Heidi and Stan were so helpful with including detailed instructions to get there and what to expect! They also helped bring our gear to our site and back. They would respond so quickly to any messages and were super friendly!! Being around the gorgeous horses, doggos, cats, chickens and goats was an added bonus to the experience for us! The site is so close to starved rock and buffalo rock which was perfect for us as we hiked a lot! Thank you Heidi and Stan!! 🌿

I absolutely LOVED staying on Heidi’s land! The forest was beautiful, the firewood/fire starter/trash/recycling/lighters/chairs etc were super convenient to have, and walking a couple minutes from the car to the campsite was really lovely and kept the campground very serene. Heidi was extremely friendly and respectful—she helped us carry our gear in and out exactly when we requested, and we had a great time chatting with her. As a lesbian couple, my girlfriend and I felt safer than we ever have at a campsite before, which means the world. We will definitely be back! Thank you Heidi!
