Misty Mountain Off Grid stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at Misty Mountain!
We visited over a long weekend (plus a couple of extra days), and while most sites were occupied, there was still plenty of space between campsites. We looked out over the wineries and it felt like we were the only ones there — very peaceful.
On the hicamp web site the camp sites are numbered but this is not the case; it’s first in, best spot. Luckily, we arrived a day early and got a great position. On regular weekends, there are usually only a few campers around.
It’s a beautiful location. There’s potable water available, but everything else is fully off-grid. The nearby village has public toilets and cold showers if needed.
The property is a working cattle farm and horse stud, so you’ll get the full farm experience — we loved hearing and seeing the animals in the neighboring paddocks.
There are 3–4 local wineries close by, all offering food and tastings, with one within walking distance. Beaches and fishing spots are also just a short drive away.
Each campsite has a fire bin, and firewood is available for purchase on request.
For us, it ticked all the boxes for an off-grid, relaxing stay. The hosts were friendly and very helpful — highly recommended!
