Set high up in the mountains of cradle country our beautiful farm is peaceful and picturesque. The majestic presence of Mt Roland, Mt Van Dyke, Mt Claude and Black Bluff can be seen from various parts of our property. Nestled in the heart of North West Tasmania with camping close to Cradle Mountain only a 35 minute picturesque drive without the hassle of towing the van. Close to Sheffield the town of Murals, Lake Barrington perfect for swimming, rowing and water skiing, Tasmazia with its model villages and endless mazes to occupy the kids, Latrobe Chocolate Factory, Ashgrove Cheese Dairy Door, Van Diemans Ice Creamery, Wild Mersey MTB Trail network, Mole Creek Caves, Mount Roland hikes, Forth Falls and surrounded by many amazing walks and other natural Tasmanian attractions close by. For those wanting to spread out, prefer privacy, traveling in groups or prefer mountain views we encourage you to book our 4wd Plateau and 4wd Dispersed Sites which are open during the peak months depending on cattle movements. Our main campground has 10 sites and is accessible for standard cars. The main campground has level grassed campsites measuring 6m in width and 19m in length (Sites 2 - 10) Campsite 1 is the larger site and measures 10m in width and 19m in length and sits seperate to the other sites a little closer to the road. Price advertised is per site, per night for 2 people. Campfires permitted in designated area within the main campground only and when restrictions aren't in place. Firewood is provided. This listing is for our dispersed site which moves around depending on our stock movement.  These dispersed sites require you to have a 4wd vehicle (non off-road caravans ok, when towed by 4wd)  as they are located throughout various paddocks across our farm. Please note dispersed sites do not have shade, however often have good views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. For all 2wd vehicles and hired motorhomes and vans we suggest you book one of our main campground sites as its easy access in all weather. No dogs allowed on the property.   Our 85 acre farm is located in the rolling hills of North West Tasmania. We offer self-sufficient camping to families, couples and individuals seeking an authentic farm stay experience. Our farm is set high up in the picturesque mountains of cradle country at a 540m elevation. The majestic presence of Mount Roland, Mount Van Dyke, Mount Claude and Black Bluff can be seen from various parts of our property.  We offer camping close to Cradle Mountain only a 35 minute picturesque drive, 15 minutes from Sheffield the town of Murals, 5 minutes to Lake Barrington; perfect for swimming, rowing, water skiing, power boating and canoeing, 5 minutes to Tasmazia with its model villages and endless mazes to occupy the kids, along with many walks and natural Tasmanian attractions close by.

Please note there is no shade on this site and depending on the season it is exposed to winds due the elevation. This campsite is for your exclusive use and not shared with other campers. Nice level paddock near a quiet road. Steve was lovely to talk to and let us feed and pat the goats. Hosts were fantastic and great being not too far from Cradle Mountain.

We only stayed the one night but it's a great little place. Situated only a short 30-40 minute drive from Cradle Mountain. Steve is the first Hipcamp Owner that has come to say hello and we thought that was lovely. Well maintained and would definitely recommend.

Shae and Steve run a fantastic HipCamp. Well situated for rowing or NW Tassie touring or...well anything really. Nothing is too much trouble and the cows are awesome. We stayed for a whole week last week and it couldnt have gone better.

Wonderful spot to stop perfectly located to explore Cradle Mountain. Flat grassy sites, very peaceful, and Shae and Steve are friendly , and very helpful hosts. We came with a group of 6 vehicles and it was a lovely 2 night stop with a fire at night and great views. Would highly recommend, thank you guys.

Our stay at Steve and Shae’a place was fantastic!! The location to Cradle Mountain for our walk was only 35mins drive. The property was easy to book and access with the communication from Steve being outstanding. We were even lucky enough to get some delicious farm fresh eggs and garlic. Local advice was so helpful for navigating around this glorious region of Tassie. Site 9 was nice and level and well maintained. Loved the free roaming chickens. Would highly recommend!

Nice views and super empty which was nice The camp ground itself was quite exposed to the wind with a very small shelter in a shield. As someone camping in a tent, places closer to cradle were cheaper with more facilities. I reckon if you were in a caravan with a generator it would be ideal for you especially if you wanted to be by yourself. We stayed 2 days and shared the campsite with only the paddymelons.

Such a lovely quiet spot with plenty to see and do close by. Easy access and room for big vans. We met Kevin and Bevin the goats who came for a pat and a couple of snacks! Loved our stay and would recommend especially if you want to visit Cradle Mountain and surrounds.

Shae and Steve were great hosts, and very responsive with messages through the Hipcamps website. The camp sites were all level and grassy the with views of the surrounding mountains and farm land. We were able to book site 2 for three nights, my preference would have been site 1 as compared with the sites 2-10 it had more room and was a slightly separate to the others but for the same price. Site 2 turned out really good though as we were lucky to spend the 3 nights without anybody camped next to us, and in fact we had the place to ourselves for the first night. We did feel however that if we had people next to us that the sites would seem a little close. We purchased a dozen farm fresh eggs that were personally delivered by Shae and Steve, this was a lovely way to meet the hosts who were happy to answer our questions about eating out in Tasmania.

Shane and Shae are the sort of hosts you dream of, super lovely and engaging, have time to talk to the kids, very reasonable with the expectations on the site. Even got some eggs from them, visited their goats and spied their chookies. Site is great, well organised and simple, it was quiet on the top of the hill with a spot for a fire. It's all penned in so the kids couldn't escape (and the pademelons can't destroy things)... played some cricket and had a great time. Couldn't ask for much more. Location is great for hiking at Cradle Mountain, a bit further than the fishing place but not nearly as hectic. Views to Mount Roland aren't far away either

Steve and Shae have the picture perfect farm and have created a fantastic space for camping. We were there for two nights and lucky enough on the last night to have the whole site to ourselves. Amazing sunsets and wallabies (with joeys!) just added to the experience. Believe all the other amazing reviews and be sure to stay here.
