There's a beach in almost every direction you turn at this small-scale family campsite in the picturesque Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

When Lynne and Tim planted willows around a one-acre fruit patch on their Pembrokeshire market garden, their intention was to help shelter the soft fruit they were growing for the local farmer’s market. What they didn’t realise is that they were also sowing the seeds for a camping sanctuary, transforming their home into one rather charming Pembrokeshire campsite. Today, you won’t meet a single camper leaving Spring Meadow Farm who isn’t singing its praises. They’re easy people to find too, since they all return again the next year!

Smack in the middle of St Davids Peninsula, Spring Meadow Farm’s enclosed meadows boast just six grassy pitches, providing ample space even when fully booked. Stays are of a simple and natural kind – there are no electrical hook-ups and each pitch has a moveable wooden picnic table, along with a firepit for that essential evening campfire. The remaining 12-acres, once a bountiful market garden, are now being allowed to re-wild naturally and are a haven for birds, butterflies and small mammals. And although campervans are allowed, it’s predominantly tents that pepper the flat camping meadow.

It’s the relaxed approach to camping here that makes the place so endearing. Guests are welcome to stroll the margins of neighbouring fields, where unkempt hedges attract goldfinches and grasshopper warblers, while kids can busy themselves on the outdoor table-tennis table. Several bright buddleias are also grown on the fringes of the camping meadows – earning their horticultural nickname as ‘the butterfly bush’ with the numbers they attract. It all gives the place a slightly wild and rustic feel, hidden in the back of beyond.

Above all else, however, it’s the location that keeps most of those praise-singing campers returning. Though it may feel delightfully isolated, Spring Meadow Farm is surrounded by popular beaches on almost every side. The coast path walk from Porthgain to Abereiddy is the spot to watch the sunset from, head west for surfing and swimming on Whitesands Beach or drop south to pretty Solva, where the long quayside is ideal for crabbing. The village overlooks a picturesque, dinghy-dotted estuary that is fed, in part, by a tiny stream originating back at the campsite itself. So campers here, it seems, are really just following the natural order: Always bound for the seaside.

This pitch provides everything including the kitchen sink! All you need is your tent and bedding - everything else is here, just a short walk from your parking space. The spacious polytunnel kitchen contains a 3 burner gas hob, sink and running cold water, a picnic table, pots and pans, cutlery and crockery. Outside there's another picnic table next to the firepit and grill, while alongside the kitchen is your own gas powered shower in its wooden cabin. With no mains electricity on the field, we've located your personal fridge freezer in the campsite shower block. Here you'll also find toilets, an electric shower, washing facilities and a washing machine.

All 5 grass pitches are rotated to keep the turf in good heart. There are usually 3-4 pitches on the main camping field with vacant pitches on each side. The fifth pitch is sited at the near end of the neighbouring second field. If pitches want to camp close to each other we usually site them on our third field, the campervan field. This is the only field where vehicles are allowed - no vehicles are otherwise allowed on site except for when pitching and taking down tents on arrival and departure.

Tim and Lynne are very welcoming and hospitable. The pitches are flat and so well kept. The facilities, too, are spotlessly clean. The water is hot and there's a washing machine, fridge, freezer, washing up area and recycling bins. These are all really close to the pitches but far enough away not to be intrusive. There's even a polytunnel to sit in if the weather is bad and it comes with chairs, table tennis and flowers! Having seen a few other sites in the area we would definitely go straight back to this one for future trips.

We had such a nice time at Spring Meadow Farm Campsite in the summer of 2020, we decided to return in 2021. This is a very peaceful campsite with only a few pitches filled at any one time. Where else could you find a campsite in Pembrokeshire in mid-August, with only five tents at any one time? The camping field is bordered by mature willows, creating a tranquil space in which to camp. Each pitch measures 10m x 10m, meaning that there is plently of space to make yourself at home. Tim and Lynne, the owners, are lovely and have created a very welcoming atmosphere. What is especially nice about the site is that no cars are allowed in the camping field, except to unload and load at the start and end of the holiday. This means that the camping experience is reminiscent of days gone by. Never fear though if you need quick access to your vehicle - the car park is only a few steps away from the field. Each plot also has its own picnic bench and fire pit. Wood and kindling can be purchased. There is also access to a washing machine, which is especially useful if you are accompanied by a messy toddler. There is a small fee for each wash. The site is well located and only a few miles from St Davids and Solva. The busy Whitesands bay is also a close drive away. Areas of Pembrokeshire can sometimes feel quite crowded during the summer months, so it was alway nice to return to our little camping oasis at the end of a busy day’s exploring. We've just returned from a week in the special Swallows Yurt - (our first experience last year was so good we went back this year). This is a great glamping experience which retains a simplicity on this quiet and well thought out campsite. Comfortable beds, a woodstove for the cooler evenings and a kitchen under canvas all help make this an idyllic base- particulary when the weather is wet! The addition of a fridge freezer meant we hardly had to worry about food shopping for the week. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, the facilities extremely well kept. We had our own outdoor shower and plenty of space. There are plenty of beaches and places to visit nearby.

Just spent a glorious week here, sorry to leave, couldn't fault it! Tim's a laid back host, on arrival he presented us with our personal bath mat, a lovely touch! Pitches are beautifully laid out, with grasses between each one....and soooo spacious! Definitely not a 'pack 'em in' type of place! Each pitch has a fire pit, with locally sourced logs for sale. Spotless shower, toilet, washing up area, and use of a fridge/freezer. Loved that all recycling and food waste bins were provided, too! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend, and hope to return!

This site was just what we hoped it would be, offering tranquility, space and lovely clean facilities maintained by the friendly hosts Tim and Lyn. The site is beautifully laid out, with spacious, level, sheltered pitches and mown paths lined with wild flowers and grasses - ideal for tai chi and yoga! Each pitch has a picnic table and fire pit (wood available to buy), making for a perfect camping experience. There's also a polytunnel that's been converted into a beautiful sheltered garden/space to sit or play table tennis (bring your own bats and ball due to current Covid restrictions). We only explored a small part of this beautiful area, but found some lovely beaches (Whitesands) and coastal walks, and enjoyed a boat trip around Ramsay where we saw puffins and Manx Shearwaters. The rugged coastline and 'naturalness' of this part of Pembrokeshire, combined with the beautiful, laid back campsite, were just what we needed to unwind. We'll definitely be back!

If you are after a quiet, beautiful campsite without frills, this is the place for you. If you like entertainment, groups and music, it would not be a good choice.This campsite has a small number of generously sized pitches and a spotlessly clean toilet and shower block with a free fridge freezer. Each pitch has a fire place and picnic bench. It is close to St Davids and several beaches and the surrounding Pembrokeshire is beautiful The owner are lovely and very helpful, and despite having very poor weather we loved our stay.

Stayed for a week on this beautiful site. So much space! Facilities all spotlessly clean and new. Wood available for the fire pits provided. Indoor space with an indoor garden, tables, drying.space and table tennis for rainy days. A short drive into St. David’s, Whitesands Bay, Solva and many other lovely places on the coast. Owners were so kind and helpful. Will definitely be coming back!

Just got back from our first camping trip with our toddler. This site was perfect for our needs- very family friendly and peaceful- facilities spotlessly clean. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and we really enjoyed our stay! I’m sure we’ll be staying again in the future!

Just back from a 4 night stay at Spring Meadow and what a wonderfully tranquil experience. The site is so calm and peaceful, we felt relaxed from the moment we arrived, added to only by Tim, an extremely laid back host. The pitches are large and spaced out, with your own fire pit (the main reasons we chose it). Bought wood on site and lit up the fire as soon as we got there! Shower & toilets were spotlessly clean and look new. Everything is well maintained and was perfect for our camping needs, including use of a fridge freezer. Also loved the fact that cars cannot be kept by your pitch as it stops banging doors at all hours! Allowed on site to unpack & pack up only, ideal. Our host was also extremely helpful with a personal issue we needed to get sorted straight away. A great experience all round. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Arrived here after gales and for 4 nights was the only camper on lyrically beautiful site. Helpful friendly owners helped me feel at ease. Excellent set up - spotless nice shower and toilets, sanitiser and mandarin hand soap for Covid times, fire pits and picnic benches for each pitch, spacious pitches with wild flowers surrounding, and the excellent polytunnel with beautiful plantings and seating to retreat to when the weather is too much. I loved watching the birds - cuckoos, tits and small birds in the trees round the field, larger birds wheeling overhead, big skies and a harvest moon. This is a great location if you have a car, only just beyond St Davids but light years away from the busy-ness. And if you go, don't miss the new outdoor pizza place, The Grain, in St Davids, highly recommended.

This is a lovely small site and the pitches are nicely laid out with firepit and ample space for your tents. The toilet and washing facilities were spotlessly clean and close by. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and kindly came over to see if we needed any help when the storm blew in. This is a lovely spot, close to beaches and St David's and if the traffic noise from the road is not a problem for you (A487 nearby) then you'll love your stay here.

This was a second visit to this wonderful site and we were pleased to see a few improvements to an already near perfect retreat. We stayed this year at the end of May and the only disappointment was the on and off unpredictable rain. Lynne and Tim were lovely as before and the polytunnel converted into a dry area was much needed shelter and place to dry our waterproofs. We still loved the chance of a campfire, the huge pitch space , the clean facilities and amazing peace of this beautifully simple back to nature site. We will be back again...we love the area and having now experienced the wind we simply wouldn't brave the coastal sites. Just lovely.

We were welcomed very friendly by the two owners, and were introduced into the simple, yet beautiful campsite. We were able to buy self grown vegetables and wood for a campfire. The sanitary facilities were big enough and always clean. There was an indoor place with a table tennis and other games, where you could have fun, independent of the weather. The owners of the site were very approachable and helped us finding our next camping spot on our tour through Wales. Thank you for your time and we'd definitely come back! Myself, partner and 2 daughters stayed here for 3 nights over the August bank holiday (23/8/19-26/8/19), and could not recommend the site highly enough. Well sited near to the gorgeous City of St Davids and the stunning Whitesands beach, we were instantly at ease and relaxed on this lovely little site. The pitches are spacious, but the limited number makes it feel very intimate, while the beautiful natural surroundings add to the tranquility. The facilities are all spotlessly clean and the hosts Lynne and Tim couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. We certainly would recommend this site and will definitely be going back.

Site has extremely large pitches and having the car parked away from the tent is a great change and adds to the relaxed feel here. There are generally no more than five pitches used at anytime while the other pitches are alternated meaning the available space is more. Does not feel squeezed in here. Facilities simple but always clean. Hosts are extremely kind and approachable. The site is in a great position for exploring St David’s peninsula too. We had two weeks at this site and enjoyed every moment of it.

We spent a week on the Spring Meadow Farm Campsite this July and had a glorious time there. Of course, with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the fabulous beaches around St. Davids, a visit to the Island of Skomer there was plenty to see and do. But the site has also a lot to offer when you just want to relax a day or when the weather does not show its sunny side. There is a half greenhouse offering shelter from rain, to play a round of table-tennis or other games provided or brought along, or to have a meal in luxurious space. The pitches don‘t provide electric hook-ups, but there is a small camping kitchen with a fridge/freezer-combo. All facilities are in excellent condition and Tim and Lynne are just marvelous hosts. This is probably our fifth year at Spring Meadow campsite and we love it! Lynne and Tim are so thoughtful and have created a wonderful atmosphere in the campsite. The pitches are sheltered, flat and well spaced out and with only 6 pitches at one time it means that it is peaceful and tranquil. The facilities are great and very clean and there is a fridge/freezer and washing machine that you can use and wood and kindling can be bought for an open fire. Each pitch is given a picnic table and trivet so that you can cook over an open fire if you wish, toasting marshmallows is always a highlight of our camping trips. The new addition of a ping pong table in a covered poly tunnel was also very welcomed by our kids! Such a lovely place to camp that we keep going back!

We really enjoyed staying at Spring Meadow. Tim and Lynne are helpful and friendly and have created a great space for campers with lots of additional extras which make the camping experience a bit easier, especially in the rain. We appreciated the fridge, hot and clean shower room, washing machine, covered area to hang washing and play ping pong, spacious pitches with a fire pit and bench, lovely logs and kindling and delicious veg from the garden! Next time we will come prepared with clothes for all types of weather! Thanks for a lovely time.

Loved our 2 week camping experience in Spring Meadow Farm, Tim and Lynne couldn't have been better hosts and were so helpful when our car battery failed! Lovely clean facilities, big fridge freezer, hot showers, our kids absolutely loved it too. Just stayed here for 5 nights with my husband and 5 month old daughter. The campsite is so beautiful with lovely big pitches which are spaced out so you have loads of room. Love that there are only ever 5 “people” camping at any one time. Showers were clean and hot, they even provide a fridge freezer and a charging point for phones (what more could you want?). The hosts are friendly and helpful and the location is ideal for exploring the local area. It was perfect for our first family holiday! Thanks again

Me and my friends stayed here this week - we had our own section of the site which was great. The location offers great links to St David's, St David's head, Solva, etc. The facilities were very good, no issues with hot running water, for example. Tim and Lynne were very thoughtful and were great hosts. We also had friendly fellow campers in the next field. Great trip!

Stayed here before and thought it couldn’t be that good again surely but it was! Peaceful, secluded pitches on very flat field with plenty of space. Very clean facilities and fire pits for marshmallows! Owners very friendly and helpful and as a base for exploring this wonderful part of the world it can’t be beaten! We will definitely be back!

What a fantastic few days we had at Spring Meadow in May Half Term. The campsite is idyllic with spotless facilities including a family bathroom with a lovely hot shower; a separate toilet; a large fridge freezer and an indoor washing up sink. There is even table tennis and a washing line set up under a poly tunnel, just in case it rains and you need some shelter. Table tennis was a hit with our 2 boys. There are 5 very generously sized camping pitches separated by strips of wild meadow borders in one field and a yurt in an adjacent field. Each pitch comes with a picnic bench and its own fire pit. Campfires are encouraged and the whole set up is very relaxed and peaceful. The weather was glorious while we were there and we made good use of the nearby beaches. The campsite is tucked away, yet is within easy reach of the stunning beaches and St Davids. If you're looking for a small, peaceful campsite set in a beautiful part of Pembrokeshire, which has excellent well thought out facilities and friendly, helpful owners then choose Spring Meadow! Our boys are now addicted to surfing so we will be back!

Our family of four stayed in the Swallows Yurt for a week and had a wonderfully relaxing holiday. The site is very mellow and the facilities are excellent. The yurt is fantastic – spacious, airy, with a log burner which we lit every evening, even though the weather was warm. The beds are extremely comfortable and we all slept well. A few yards away the yurt has its own dedicated covered kitchen with gas burners, cold running water, seating, crockery and cutlery. And we also had our own dedicated shower – again just a few steps away, with wonderfully warm water. There's also your own fire pit and a communal block with toilets, fridge freezer, washing machine and a sink with running hot water. The owners, Lynne and Tim, were very welcoming and instructive, available to help when needed. We toured the beaches of the region, particularly enjoying Whitesands, Solva, Broadhaven and Newport Bay. The scenery is jaw-dropping, with miles and miles of walks along beautiful coastline. St Davids is a wonderful little city with some really nice shops and a cathedral that was hosting an orchestra and an art exhibition. If you come, try the delicious local pasties (with minced lamb and leeks) and the array of ice creams on sale in St Davids. We would recommend Swallows Yurt without hesitation – if you like the outdoors but want to try something a little different, a little more comforting, you'll love staying here. This is a special place and we loved our stay here for May half term week 2017. Why is it special? (1) Very laid back, incredibly friendly owners Lynn and Tim (2) Only 5 pitches and huge ones at that! So much space for sprogs to run amok (3) Very good facilities - Lovely hot shower room with loo, + separate loo. Big fridge freezer! Washing machine. (4) Poly tunnel table tennis and clothes drying for wet and windy days (5) Location – tucked away but everything is so close, from Solva, St Davids and a range of wonderful beaches

We stayed here for two weeks in August. There were only two other tents the first week in our field, and one in the field behind us, separated by lovely trees). And the second week two different tents, one apposite and one next to us. Which means there is plenty of space for everyone and it really is a quiet, small campsite. All pitches have their own movable picnic tables, which is very handy. Our side had sun pretty much from the morning until end of afternoon, and all the pitches have their own fire pit. It's a short walk to the immaculately kept ( thanks to hardworking Lynne!) 2 toilets and shower. There's also a washing machine and cold and warm water for washing up. Tim and Lynne let you walk the grounds ( keeping to the sides where they grow vegetable obviously) which are really a great place for butterflies, bugs, meditation and sunshine). Tim has been growing vegetables for many years, and sells them on side, so every morning you can have some fresh tomatoes, and cucumber), and of course a lot of vegetables for your dinner. They also have a fantastic yurt in the other field of which they have done a great job with and it looks fantastic. Although it's on the road to St. David's ( not even 10 minutes by car, so great if you want to visit local Nisa supermarket for freshly baked croissants, and breads early in the morning), you don't notice the traffic that much, and at night it gets even quieter. Beautiful night skies with little air pollution, great for stargazing. There is a lot of grass for the children to roam, and we had no problem letting our 20 month old explore the place, it feels really safe, as is quite a way from the road, and Lynne and Tim don't want cars on side, which is great. Lot of credit to Lynne and Tim who are a really lovely couple ( thanks again Lynne for the Dutch oven, next time we WILL use it:-)) My only question was about drying facilities, because we had a few rainy days and it was hard to keep things dry, but Lynne told me they've already discussed that, and were working on a solution, We had a wonderful stay with Lynne and Tim and also had great 'neighbours' both weeks. Definitely highly recommended camping. Thanks for all your hard labour guys.

We stayed at Spring Meadow Farm for a week this summer. The site is beautifully kept and fantastically located in close proximity to the many wonderful delights that North Pembrokeshire has to offer. It is quiet and well maintained, the shower and toilets are kept spotlessly clean with a constant supply of hot water and table tennis for those waiting their turn. We enjoyed many campfires and fresh vegetables the owners grow themselves. Will definitely return, highly recommended!

I almost don't want to write a review as I don't want everyone knowing about this site! We have been staying here for a number of years having tried many sites in west wales. The site is about 3 miles inland which means you don't get a sea view, but you also don't get the spectacular prmbrokeshire storms smashing your tent. Tim and Lynne are fantastic- laid back and friendly. The site has huge pitches (really huge!) in flat, well drained fields, protected by well chosen planting. There are fires allowed (encouraged!) with tables and grills provided. The site is off the main road from st David's so no scary single track roads. There is a clean toilet block but only one shower: when busy a second shower would be a good idea. You can buy wood and farm veg from the site. Prmbrokeshire has some of the best beaches and views in Europe - excellent surfing just down the road at newgale This site is camping as it should be in a fantastic location. Highly recommended

There’s surfing at Newgale and Whitesands Bay, coasteering with Celtic Quest (01348 837337) at the blue pool Abereiddy and Island boat trips to see the puffins, razorbills, guillemots and many other sea birds – there are gannets to be seen on Grassholm and seals around Ramsey. Walk the coast path or try crabbing or sailing at Solva and Porthclais harbours. Horse riding is available at Nolton Stables (01437 710360). Castell Henllys, a reconstructed Iron Age Fort near Newport puts on activities for families throughout the summer – kids adore it.

Food and drink

Local delicatessen in St Davids – St David’s Food and Wine (01437 721948) – selling a variety of local produce. Gwaun Valley Meats (01348 840838) in Letterston sells quality local meat products and freshly cooked crab and lobster can be bought off the quay in Solva (and also from Porthgain and Roch). Fishguard Farmers Market (01437 776168) runs on Saturday mornings (9am–1pm) in the town hall but get there early as stalls sell out. For a meal elsewhere, most campers recommend The Sloop Inn (01348 831449) and The Shed Bistro (01348 831518) in Porthgain and The Cwtch (01437 720491) in St Davids. Also fish and chips at No.35 (01437 729236) in Solva but only on specified days.
