Sundial Farm Pitch your tent and pick our apples by the pond on Westchester’s oldest working farm. You’ll enjoy complete privacy and quiet. The Hawkey family has worked Sundial Farm for nearly half a century, from indoor plants to perennials to dressage school, to organic veggies, selling antiques, hosting a local CSA and farm stand, and most recently native plant landscaping with PlanIt Wild. Sundial Farm can also be seen in many Hollywood productions, such as Blackkklansmen, The Hunters, and American Gangster. *You may come across reviews talking about the farm stand and animals. Sadly those are no longer here, so stock up on goodies before you arrive.

Pitch your tent and pick our apples by the pond on Westchester’s oldest working farm. Wander the farm, hike the many nearby trails, kayak the croton river, visit Teatown Reservation or the magnificent Croton Damn just minutes away, or just relax. You’ll enjoy complete privacy and quiet. The Hawkey family has worked Sundial Farm for nearly half a century, from indoor plants to perennials to dressage school, to organic veggies, selling antiques, to hosting a local farm stand and CSA, and most recently hosting PlanIt Wild, native plant nursery and landscaping. In the fall we host Thompson's Cider Mill. They sell apples, pies, cider, cider donuts, hard cider, and have tastings. Open mid-Sept through mid Nov., 10-5:30 on weekends. Sundial Farm can also be seen in many Hollywood productions, such as The Diplomat (Season 3), Blackkklansmen, The Hunters, and American Gangster. *Please be advised, you may see pictures and read nice reviews about our farm stand and livestock. We no longer host the farmstand and animals so stock up on provisions before you arrive. DeCiccos in Millwood is less than 5 minutes away.

This site is just outside the apple orchard, at the bottom of a field used for growing vegetables. It has a wide open view of the farm with the windmill, greenhouse, barns and sunsets. It's a shorter walk to the barns (bathroom), closer to the pond, and less buggy than the orchard. Downside...there are no trees for shade on hot summer days or to give you privacy. Luckily there are not many people around. Monday through Friday you will most likely see a pick-up truck or two leaving in the morning and coming back at night. You may also see a 2 or 3 folks working in the garden or up at the greenhouse throughout the day. On weekends you will only see my parents, myself and my son working in the garden (if at all).

Picnic Field

This site is near the barns and only available when all other sites are booked. It's a large field with some children's activity equipment, a few picnic tables, a fire pit, and shade trees on the south side of the field. It is very picturesque and spacious, in a convenient location near the bathroom and water, but it's in a less private area. You will see other campers going to and from the barns, and you will most likely see my parents, myself and my son working in the garden or passing through the barnyard once or twice a day. You may also see a delivery truck or two driving through. RV's can park parallel to the field, but not on the field. ***From mid-Sept through mid-Nov Thompson's Cider Mill runs a store and "bar" in the barns. It is open from 10am to 5:30pm on weekends and draws a ot of customers and Autumn enthusiasts! Tents must be put away during these weekend hours. (whether that means you check out by 10am or check in after 5:30 pm or if you just pack your tent away during operating hours...that's p to you. You can hang out on the field all day. But it is a public field where guests will be hangin around.

Orchard Camping at Sundial Farm
We had an amazing experience camping in the orchard at Sundial Farm! Molly was incredibly responsive and accommodating with timing, weather, and any requests we had. Our first evening was rained out for a bit but she met us in the rain and was quick to offer suggestions for anything we needed. Will definitely be coming back with the family to experience the hospitality and beauty of the property again!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful and well-maintained campsite. The site was very private, peaceful, and exceptionally clean. The host was incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming. Our family had an amazing time here, and we would definitely love to come back again. Highly recommended!

Orchard Camping at Sundial Farm
I tent camped in the beginning of May, it was very quiet, Molly was extremely nice and very accommodating. As with all outdoor activities I would suggest treating clothes, shoes & gear with insect and/or tick repellant and do proper body checks for ticks. I didnt find any on me or any of my gear the next morning but i did see one crawling on the firewood. That being said I would definitely camp there again. Be safe out there

I had the best time camping on Molly’s land with my 1-year old puppy! I was looking for a close, beautiful, dog-friendly site to teach her how to camp and this checked all the boxes. Plus Molly and her family are all so kind and lovely. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and enjoyed ourselves.

Orchard Camping at Sundial Farm
Molly was very responsive and a pleasant host. Due to a miscommunication we were not at the orchard site so I can’t comment on that, we were at a big open field site. There was plenty of room and Molly provided wood and water and stumps to sit on by the fire. We were very happy about the orchard popup there in the morning to get cider and apple donuts! Very fun stop on pur bike packing trip through Westchester.

Great communication, friendly hosts. Perfect fire pit. Easy to get to, right off highway pretty much. We used it as an overnight stop. You can hear the h8ghwa6 sounds but it's muffled and we couldn't hear feom inside our van. Field very open, so if in high summer would be warm but perfect for a fall overnight. Would use again.

We had a perfect time at the orchard! Molly was the best host. She greeted us when we arrived and was always available. She also gave us firewood and water. The farm is beautiful and the camping spot is sequestered away from the main farm activities—it’s great. Would come back again anytime.

We weren’t at Sundial Farm much since we were in town for an art show, but it was such a lovely place to come back to each evening. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, and it was wonderful to have a fire every night. We really appreciated the provided water and firewood, such thoughtful touches. A comfortable, convenient, and relaxing stay!

This was a perfect camping experience for our family. The campsite was hidden from view but a short walk to the bathroom, and Molly provided firewood and water. So much more intimate and enjoyable than a public campground!

Molly was a responsive, kind and helpful host. The property is very pretty and also very close to amenities and fun activities like tea town reserve. We loved the sunset field spot! In the fall there is an apple cider mill in the barn that sells cider and hard cider, apples, donuts and muffins and there is a great spot for kids to play. Both the field and the orchard are not a long walk from the barn to bathroom. This is a good place to do camping with a nice mix of nature and access to amenities.

Great weekend escape from NYC. Molly is a great host! She responded my message very quick and very welcoming! Access: Took metro north from the city and got off at Croton - Harmon station. I called Uber (10min wait). I saw taxi station right in front of the station —easy access without car. Campsite: Exactly as shown on the photos. If you are wondering about which site to pick; Under apple tree location (the site I picked): more surrounded feeling by trees around. All the way back of the farm. Close to the busy road, so if you prefer to quiet location, I would recommend going the other one. More open site (the site I did not pick this time): more open space on the small hill. If you would like to see open sky or let your kids running around, this site would be good for you. Close to barn/bathroom. If you do not have a car, I would recommend finishing your shopping before taking the train (ShopRite is nearby the Croton-Harmon station but it is a bit hard to reach on foot due to the highway).

This is a very nice space on a private farm. Hosts are very nice people, very helpful. Access to bathroom in barn and drinking water was provided, perfect for a quick overnight or hiking/bikepacking in the area. Close enough to the highway that there is a bit of a rumble from that, if you are looking for absolute quiet. A nice rural spot, not completely rustic but private and pretty.

Orchard Camping at Sundial Farm
Molly was so friendly and accommodating. She brought us fresh water as she checked in and she was so understanding of our dog who likes her own space. The site has a lot of shade underneath the beautiful orchard trees' low canopy so it's perfect for the summer to help keep you cool. The ground is flat so you'll be able to sleep comfortably. Sharing this if it helps anyone else in the future, but the site is located not too far from a big road. Sometimes big muscle cars or motorcycles with engine sounds that "pop" would drive by and my dog who is afraid of fireworks had a hard time during the night thinking it was some fireworks. If you don't have a dog that is sensitive, then I would recommend!
