Originally settled in 1889 "Bobs Grant" this lovely property and the surrounding land was originally used for farming but is now mostly turf farms. Enjoy our little getaway down by the Hawkesbury River only 10 minutes from historic Windsor. A beautiful river shack for your use exclusively, including fire pit with direct access to the Hawkesbury river. Destroyed in the March and July 2022 floods, we have now re-built and are loving welcoming back our guests. Bring your caravans, tent or swag - all are welcome! Unfortunately, boats are not. Relax and enjoy the serenity whilst being only 1 hour from Sydney. We offer the site to one group only, a maximum of 20 guests. However note, we are not a place for rowdy groups and parties. Groups are welcome here to enjoy the time with their family and friends, play a little music and relax by the river. The river can get busy (which is great after the floods as it has been dead for so long) and so can the road across the river but if you are enjoying your family and friends you won't even notice! We have one basic toilet, and one river water shower available too! Fantastic spot, everything you could ever ask for to make a camping experience wonderful. The owners have done an amazing job. Would definitely recommend it and can't wait to go back there.

This is the 3rd time our group of 20 have stayed here. Just as amazing as the last times. It's so relaxing and spacious for a large group. The facilities great and awesome to explore the local area. This time it was exploring near by Bilpin with great markets and cider. Megan and her husband are fantastic hosts. We are already looking forward to our next stay

Awesome weekend retreat

We just had the best weekend of camping at Down by the Hawkesbury. The site is so beautiful, and the facilities (particularly the undercover area) are excellent. The pizza oven had to change nationality for our curry night, so it could produce K & T’s amazing naan bread. Our group all had a wonderful time and we are so looking forward to our next stay at the end of the year. Thank you so much Megan and Trevor, you both made our stay so easy to arrange, and it was great when Trevor brought the dogs down to say hello. We would certainly recommend Down by the Hawkesbury to others, but please don’t book it when we want to visit!! Thanks again From our whole group.

Great Set-up but not very peaceful

Down by the Hawkesbury is a great set-up. We loved the communal areas under the roof and around the fire pit which was great for hanging with the family, playing cards and having meals. It was awesome to have a fire and toast marshmallows. The set-up is very good for having a group weekend away. The location is not quite as peaceful as we had hoped with constant traffic noise and frequent boats/jet skits up and down the river. The neighbour properties are also very close by so you see and hear them frequently. I would recommend the campsite if you are just looking for a group weekend away but not if you are looking for a relaxing/peaceful camping weekend. Unfortunately the water quality of the Hawkesbury wasn't great when we were there, so any thoughts of a paddle or swim were gone. However, we had a good time sitting round the fire and playing games together

Loved camping here! Megan and Trevor provided all the essentials we needed! A warm shower, a toilet and a perfect hut with a gorgeous fireplace. Direct access to the water so the kids could splash. We will definitely return! Thanks so much guys!

Lovely private location with all the luxury additions of flushing toilet, hot shower/water, electricity, fridge and covered area. Lots of space to set up and hang out. Megan was a lovely host with great communication.

This campsite was honestly a dream. We had the whole place to ourselves and it felt like our own private getaway. Super peaceful, heaps of space, and nothing but nature around us. Nights by the fire under the stars were unreal, and mornings were just as good waking up to birds instead of alarms. It was clean, easy, and way more comfortable than we expected. Perfect mix of adventure and chill. If you’re after a camping spot that feels private and special, this is the one. Megan and Trev were very accommodating and super easy to deal with, the pups Coco pops and Millie were a pleasure to have around, Timmy on the neighbouring property was an good bloke Already planning our next trip back!

Megan and Trevor are the most amazing hosts, and their property and outlook is superb. Caravan site right on the magnificent Hawkesbury River, perfect for fishing if that is your desire or just relaxing and seeing the world go by. Surprisingly a shower and toilet was also available plus a private shelter with dining tables and chairs, fireplace and party lights! The outside fire pit was also a bonus. Their rascally sausage dogs were a delight! An amazing place and beautiful hosts - what more could you ask for? Thanks Megan and Trevor.

Megan is a wonderful host and accomodating! The property is beautiful and right by the river. The toilet and shower area is clean and it is a fantastic place to relax and camp. We also had the opportunity to borrow Mabel, the trailer, and she was setup beautifully. Great for beginner campers! Thanks for having us 😊

This was our second visit, having loved it so much the first, and if at all possible, it was even better. Megan & Trevor are fantastic hosts who really want to make your stay enjoyable. We were very fortunate to have exceptional weather for our winter camp. Having multiple options to have a fire (either in the open, or in the brick fire place) also was a blessing. The pizza fire oven was also a hit! An added bonus was cuddles from the dogs & puppies they had on the farm. So much open space for the kids to run and play and also try their luck at fishing. Throw in a flushable toilet, electricity, a fridge / freezer, and a BBQ - there is not more you could want. The additions of the wood bar around the gazebo was equally beautiful, and was lovely sitting at in the morning having a cup of tea watching the river. Highly recommended.

Spent the weekend with my parents, brother and husband over the weekend and we had the best time! The gazebo was the best place to hang with the family and spend some quality time, we made good use of the pizza oven, fire place, fire pit & fridge! Everything was tidy and clean and Megan's communication through the days leading up to it was amazing! The place is private, however the neighbouring rental(?) spots is very quite close by and so on the first night, the neighbours who seem to have built in entertainment systems and speakers were playing music very loudly up until 1am which made it a pretty rough night for us. Also I may have missed this during the booking process, but there is also 4 dogs, which visit the site often :)

We had a wonderful stay! The hosts were incredibly responsive — when we ran out of toilet paper late at night, they kindly brought us a new roll right away. Their adorable puppies made our visit even more memorable; they were friendly and playful without being intrusive. The campsite itself was very private and peaceful, allowing us to truly relax and unwind. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy nature in comfort!

Thank you Megan and Trevor. Great family friendly camping spot. Awesome sized shelter with a fridge and a kettle. Flushing toilet was a luxury. Loved waking up to bell birds and whip birds. Daily visits from Bluey and the gang were awesome. We will be back!

Megan was so hospitable and the spot was great. A secluded atmosphere but super convenient for Sydney siders. Amazing amenities but don't forget cooking equipment, plates, knives ect. You'll have coverage, electricity and a fantastic time. Beware the boat races down the Hawkesbury - the perfect alarm bell!

Very sweet camping spot with a really lovely undercover area overlooking the river. The amenities like fridge, sink, toilet and shower made for an easy and relaxing holiday.

We loved our time here, lots of space and you’ve got it all to yourself. Very neat, tidy and functional. The hosts were lovely and our daughter hired the caravan on site which was also very nice. Plenty of level grassed areas for placing tents. We will be back. Lenny C

Really fantastic weekend here celebrating a 30th birthday, great space for anyone looking to get out of the city for a bit. Great fireplace to keep warm next to if it rains and covered shelter, big bbq and pizza oven! Watch the speed racing on the river and relax. Megan's a helpful, great host, highly recommended!

30th weekend

Fantastic long weekend! Celebrated my 30th with friends here and genuinely couldn’t have been better. Friday evening home made pizzas, Saturday morning a quick trip to the local outdoor gokarting track then back for a game of cricket on one of Megans fields (very generous). Fishing throughout the weekend with some swimming in the river. In the evening we had a great bbq and played some games. The river shack is a lifesaver from both sun and rain and even more spacious than it appears on photos. Megan was a fantastic host. She offered to mow a wicket for our cricket game! She was very relaxed and let us get on with things and certainly created an environment to really enjoy ourselves. Would recommend to everyone.

Beautiful location so close to Sydney. Easy to find with good clear directions. Hosts were very accomodating. Despite the rain we had a wonderful relaxing break under the covered entertaining space. Would totally recommend and planning next trip

Great little spot for groups. Easy (gl)amping as has it all - cooking facilities, tables, chairs and undercover etc. Nothing too much for Megan and Trevor. Very responsive and helpful. Trevor even brought down a huge TV to watch the test cricket! Thank you. Great stay

Beautiful location right on the river. Stayed 2 nights here whilst checking out the blue mountains. Megan and Trevor both great hosts. You have the whole site to yourself so it’s private and peaceful. There’s also great additions like large undercover structure, fireplace, hot shower and toilet. I highly recommend for anyone from camping to caravaners.

This was an amazing spot! Great spot, extra perks with the facilities offered. Spent the time here with family over Christmas and we all loved it! Hubby and I are already looking at booking another trip here.

I loved staying here. Relaxing being near the water which was easy to access. Flushing toilet, hot shower and an extra bonus of an undercover area with seating. Even had entertainment of watching the jet skies. Hosts are welcoming and lovely to chat with. I highly recommend staying, I could easily have stayed longer.
