Mid 50s couple. Nice quiet location, we had site 1. The 6 sites were well spaced out and ours felt quite private. Our 15ft hybrid caravan fit easily. We had 2 cars (one a 2wd that was fine accessing the site). The solar fairy lights were a nice added touch (a treat to view from our outdoor shower)! One flushing and one composting toilet, was appreciated. The view over the small dams was nice too. Remember to pack your 'Good Riddance' repellant to ward off march flies and mosquitoes (normal for this time of year). Outdoor fire pit each site.
Lots of small birds, loud frogs and cicadas (sounds of summer). The short, challenging, steep and rocky, walk down to Little River Trail and Aqua Pool in the adajacent Nattai Nat Park was well worth the cardio and calf muscle strain ;) Beautiful and tranquil.
A nice 2 night stay, we would recommend for a short, close to Sydney, getaway.

The site is great and well maintained. The hosts were very helpful when our gazebo broke. We had a lovely weekend chilling out at buxton getaway.

A lovely camping spot, there’s a good amount space between the different spots so we had privacy and could use our little music speaker without worrying about annoying anyone :) There was a lovely smooth area for our tent so it was super comfy sleeping! The Little River walk was lovely, as was the pond with the kayaks (my partner had a swim there and really enjoyed it). The toilet was very clean, and having clean water was really great too. Also no mozzies at all even though we were near the pond in November!!! I definitely recommend :)

My Husband and I enjoyed the peacefulness of the camp site 3. Although there were other campers, there was enough space between us that it was like we were on our own.
Our dogs enjoyed swimming in the dam
We only stayed overnight but would have liked to stay longer!

Secret Getaway
Stayed at site 1 and had view of both dams. It felt secluded even though there were other campers at other sites. Very quiet & peaceful. Nature didn't dissapoint. While there were saw ducks, kookaburras, turtles, frogs, goanna & echidna. Took our dog for the first time and he absolutely loved it, as did we.

I love that it’s an off-leash camping site with a great fire pit and is located near the mini river. I only stayed one night during spring so the temperature was perfect. It felt safe for me as a solo female traveller with my dog. I also adore the local town, the train passes by when you enter and it gives the nearby suburb a real country-feeling. I would definitely visit again.
Although, it was difficult to peg the tent because the soil was very dry.

We enjoyed camping with our dog, she loved to roam free and swim in the dam, while we had some relaxing time watching her. The walk down to little rive and swimming there was nice. Communication was easy and the hosts super friendly.

The Secret Getaway - Buxton
Was a good spot, quiet and spacious. Had a good distance between us and the other campers. The compostable toilet was clean and didn't smell! Our friends appreciated having the drinking water available around the campground. Was a nice touch to have kayaks and life jackets at the dam (we didn't want to swim in the dam, but the dogs were happy to).
The walk down to the Secret River was good (a lot harder on the way back up!) - no dogs are allowed on that walk as it's inside the National Park, so someone had to stay at the campsite with them while the rest of the group went there.
The owners came by during the weekend to check in and introduce themselves.
It's a short drive to Buxton's little supermarket for forgotten things. Make sure you buy firewood along the way, as there was nowhere to buy it in Buxton and we had to drive back to the last town to get some (not that far, about 5-10 mins). Close to Sydney for a quick weekend away.
There was someone already in our assigned spot when we arrived, but this was sorted out quite quickly over the phone with the owners. She gave us another spot, but that didn't work for our set-up, so she assigned us another site.

It's a great camp, close to the city. The sites are spread out and the toilets are clean. Having activities for the kids like the basketball court is an added bonus. Taking the 25 min walk to the water hole is well worth it.

A beautiful spot, we were on site 2 at the top dam with a fire pit and toilets nearby. Loved the serenity of the bush and the frogs' chorus at night. We enjoyed the walk to Little River with magnificent wildflowers just beginning to show their stunning colours. Great friendly instructions from the owners made everything easy to find.

Fantastic stay at this Hipcamp! The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into the setup — there were composting toilets as well as one flush toilet, and each one had its own little water jerrycan with soap, which was super convenient. The walk down to Aqua Pool in the national park was beautiful and made for a great day out. We were a group of eight adults and couldn’t resist taking the kayaks out on the dam — such a lovely bonus, especially since they were provided for free. Overall, a really enjoyable and well-thought-out stay.

The Secret Getaway - Buxton
Overall, the place looks pleasant. The small pond is beautiful and relaxing to look at. I appreciate that they provide safety vests for kids, though there were only two available and none for adults. The bonfire pit was ready for use, and the toilets were reasonably clean with water, soap, and toilet paper. I also liked the small play area for kids, a thoughtful touch for families.
However, our camping experience was not as enjoyable. The area we stayed in was very windy and dusty, making it uncomfortable to cook, sit, or even relax outdoors without being covered in dust. The signage around the property also needs improvement, they were small and hard to see, and the map provided was inaccurate, causing us to drive around looking for the right spot.
The most inconvenient part was the lack of garbage bins. It felt unhygienic, especially since some reusable items like the toys and kayaks didn’t appear to be cleaned between uses. While it’s understandable there’s no shower, not having bins at all made it difficult to maintain cleanliness.
I’m not saying this to be negative, just hoping these observations help improve the experience for future visitors. The place has potential, but small updates and better maintenance would make a big difference. This feedback comes purely from my personal experience and with good intentions.

The Secret Getaway - Buxton
Buxton Getaway was a great place for us to pitch out tent for a few days. The facilities were good and thoughtfully provided with different toilet options, and stashes with drinking water.
The walk to nearby Little River provided a wonderful place to set up a picnic rug, and read by the stream and eat a few snacks.
Directions were useful and clear. Our modest 2WD hatchback had no problems getting through the short connecting dirt road or within the site. We had site 1 which was definitely the most straightforward to locate. Sites were reasonably private with enough breathing space in between. And the view from our site was great, with option to face either dam.
We would definitely come back.

Secret Getaway
A very nice and peaceful place to stay. The sites are spaced out well for privacy and serviced with clean toilets, including a flushing one, outdoor games, potable water and fire pits. Felt safe even if female solo camping. Luvina has been most helpful and responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back!

We had a great stay and the site was easy enough to find. We were given site 6 that was lovely; however it’s very difficult to get your pegs into the ground as it’s a lot of rock instead of soil.

We loved camping at Buxtons Secret Getaway - not very far from Sydney, directions were easy to follow and pet friendly! Loved that they had a flushing toilet, provided lots of games, drinking water, even kayaks at the dam! We only stayed for a night but there was so much to do we wished we stayed a bit longer. We had no luck with catching yabbies but we saw an echidna which made up for it hehe. Thank you Luvina for your hospitality we will be back!

We had such a great time staying overnight at Luvina's place. The sites are well spaced so you get so much room and privacy if you wish.
We had such a relaxing weekend and would definitely recommend.
The toilet facilities and fire pits were very much appreciated and we still got that bush camp feel.

We had a great time over the weekend with 6 adults, 2 kids and 1 dog. Large land, private, a clean flushing toilet and a 30min bushwalk to a hidden mini waterfall/pool inside a national park. Also saw kangaroos, echidna and different birds around the site. Would highly recommend to others!

Off the road and away from traffic. Lovely private spot where you can light a fire. Offers a flushing toilet and a drip toilet for campers with tents.

Great weekender close to Sydney

The Secret Getaway - Buxton
Bush setting bordering the Nattai National Park. Ticks a lot of boxes - close to Sydney, private sites, dam views and even a flushing toilet. Ground was very hard and rocky so tent pegs might be difficult. We camped at site 1 with a camper trailer. Some grass and some dirt at this site. Walk down to the aqua pool was worth it - 30ish min trip each way and it was steep and rocky. Water was available via large bottles stored across the camp. Great weekend had by the family.

Highly recommend this campsite. Absolute great location, beautiful walk to the river. The property has a great set up offering toilets and lots of games located around the campsites for a bit of extra fun for the kids or even big kids! We will book again! Lovely hosts
