AuTrain RV Sites By Pictured Rocks

Clean, quiet, private. Everything worked. We were there in the off season so no one else was camping and the campground next door was also quiet. From here did a pictured rocks boat tour, hiked sugarloaf mountain, little presque isle. If it was warmer, the au train river looked like a fun kayak.

Wouldn't Go Back

I'm general, the site looked like the photos, however, there were some things that made this site uncomfortable enough that I didn't go back for my second night. My biggest concern was noticing a security camera aimed towards my camper that I could see while sitting on my couch - meaning I believe it could view me in my camper with the van door open. In order to be out of view of this camera, I wouldn't be able to use the hookups. They are some distance from the fire pit area, situated next to the cabin that is right on top of this site. No one was staying there at the time, but if they were, they would have been closer to my camper than a standard campsite. I saw no mention of cameras being used on this listing and felt extremely uncomfortable and wondered if there were others I wasn't seeing. Additionally, the site was overrun by wild turkeys. They were all around my camper all night and the next morning, making it stressful for my dog. Finally, please know this is a hard site to find. The street number sign is very hard to see and the tiny sign out front is for some cabins with a different name, so I thought I was at the wrong place.

Easy access to explore the UP!

Easy access to so many different areas to hike and explore. Very well maintained and wonderful property! We stayed for nine days had a wonderful time exploring the whole area! Plenty of room for a 40 foot fifth wheel.

The site was plenty large enough for our 43' diesel pusher and our tow vehicle. The site had Adirondack chairs, picnic table and a few yard games. It was wooded and secluded, there were a few other campers that you really didn't see

Great Au Train RV Site!

We really enjoyed staying on Erin’s land. Ease of in and out, full hook-ups, trees, wildlife, proximity to attractions all added to the appeal of the site. Only the outer two sites were occupied so it felt very spacious. The cool firepit and on-site games provided easy opportunities for relaxation between adventures. We’d absolutely stay here again.

We loved camping in our travel trailer on Erin’s land. it was almost like being alone in the woods, except with all the hook ups! It was close to everything we wanted to see and do for the weekend. I will be back

Nice Site

Our camp site was spacious, with full hookups in a quiet wooded setting. The WiFi surprisingly supported streaming … nice! It would have been ideal only if the weather would have cooperated. Maybe in at some point in the future we will try again.

No Lake Access, other wise nice

We enjoyed our stay overall, but wanted to share a few things that could make the listing clearer for future guests. The name and satellite view made it seem like all the sites had direct lake access, but it turns out only the lodge does. We didn’t find that out until after booking, so a quick update in the description, something like “Lake access just ___ up the road”, would set expectations better. The site itself was pleasant! There was a broken chair and some glass in the gravel (looked like from a car window), but there were extra chairs available and it didn’t cause any problems. One small note: there are cameras pointed at the sites. It wasn’t a big deal for us, but it would be nice if that was mentioned in the listing so guests know ahead of time.

We enjoyed our stay with Au Train and would book with them again. The camp fire pits were large and the site was easily accessible. An easy drive to Munisng, hiking trails, and boat and canoe rentals, we had a fantastic week.

Great Site (with wifi!l)

We had a great overnight at Site #1. "Check-in" was easy - we just pulled right in to our site and that was it! We had everything we needed: electricity, water, garbage, wifi (!), and a place to pump out the RV before we left. Site #1 is great, with a neighbor only on one side and a somewhat wooded area on the other. There is a larger campground on the other side of a wood fence, but even on a holiday weekend it wasn't too noisy. Our host Erin sent great communication with recommendations for things to do and an exact pinned location to put in our map - which came in really helpful, since Apple Maps thought the address listed was on the other side of the lake! The only trouble we had was getting the RV leveled on the soft gravel, but that could have also been our own inexperience. A more seasoned RV traveller may have been set up in no time at all.

We had a great time at this site!! It was perfect for a last minute trip!! It was close to everything we wanted to do! Hiking, a trip to pictured rocks and the beach on Lake Superior! Au Train was close with a general store, gas station and a great place to grab pizza, ice cream or a pastie!! We would definitely stay again!

I loved having a large pull-through campsite with full hookups and relative privacy - only two other sites on the property, which were a distance from the cabins. There is a larger campground just past the fence, but the fence provided privacy. It was quiet most nights, with just one night where the campground next door had people talking quite late. The sites are level, had really good water quality, full hookups, are clean, and included plastic Adirondack chairs and large fire pits with cooking grates which was a nice touch! There also were some outdoor games available for the kids, including cornhole, lawn darts and croquet. We especially enjoyed the proximity to the beaches and kayak rentals in Au Train, and it was only a 20 minute drive to Munising. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again!!

Pro: Great location for our itinerary. Full hookups Strong internet service. Private Quiet Fairly level sites Con: No access to lake Laundry facility was not completed Slow response from host (although we were told there were circumstances in play that contributed to the slow responses) We met the owner and it was obvious much care and thought was put into this small campground. She was a delight to talk with and offered much helpful info about the area. But…if traveling through the area again we would prefer a property with lake access.

Site 3 was as pictured. But, finding the campground is tricky. There is 1 small metal sign which blends into the trees and the address is virtually hidden. The driveway is also hard to see. I missed it twice, doing 15 mph, with my flashers on. Then had to find somewhere to turn around my rig, which is 45 foot, bumper to bumper. Once I found it I realized you have to circle the site and pull in facing the road you came in on or your hookups are on the wrong side. The sewer dump is a nightmare. They have it raised so high that you have to keep picking up your hoses and there is really no good way to flush your tanks. Then they have a large RV park next door that plays very loud music on the weekend. Last but not least it's very primitive. The trash is not emptied and grounds are very unkempt. But it is mostly quiet and being in the woods was nice. The site is pretty level side to side, but it's on a slant front to back. I had the front of my 35 foot bumper pull 6 inches off the ground in the front. Only way to get it level. There isn't anyone there if something goes wrong. Everything is by email, so be prepared.

I loved the RV sites here. They were setup to maximize privacy, and had beautiful fire pits, chairs and picnic table on the site as well. Very close to Lake Superior. Erin was very helpful with suggestions on things to do. We hope to be back soon

🌲 Hidden Gem in the Woods Perfect

I stayed at the AuTrain Hipcamp RV spot, and it was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had. The RV itself was amazing — spacious, super clean, and incredibly comfortable. It had two full bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a big, cozy sofa — perfect for relaxing after a day out. What really made the stay special was the beautiful natural setting. Nestled in the middle of the forest, it felt peaceful and secluded — a true escape. And just a short walk away, there was a serene lake, which made the mornings and evenings even more magical. Whether it was enjoying coffee with a view or taking in the quiet by the water, the setting added so much to the experience. The RV had everything we needed, and it felt more like a luxury cabin on wheels. If you’re looking for a unique, nature-filled getaway without giving up comfort — this is the spot. Highly recommend!

No hassle private camp site!

Great private full hook up pull through with WiFi camp site! We had the entire property to ourselves. Close to Munising, multiple waterfalls and Pictured Rock. The host Erin owns the local kayak rental on the Au Train river that was also awesome! We will stay here again when visiting the area!

This was the BEST spot to set up camp! It was perfectly situated, level, and well off the main road. It is a beautiful area and a delightfully isolated spot.

Good private site, but site 1 would have been much better for a small camper setup and was available. Would pick it next time. Sewage dump much lower on site 1 and hookups keep getting taller up to site 3. With a short camper, had to lift hose to dump. Slinky didn't help. Still, good, private site for us to use as a base camp to see the UP. Site 3 maybe better suited to a large RV or camper that is higher up.
