My family moved to Indiana over 100 years ago. They built this old farm house and raise horses, cows, pigs and goats. There is a beautiful tree lined creek at the back of the property with open area for quiet private camping.
The second camp site is the tillable farm land with a grove of trees in the upper corner of 35 acres. The center of the grove of trees is the original homestead site of the Batton family after walking from North Carolina to Indiana from the Indian Reservations and free African American homes. They built a log cabin there over 120 years ago. The old log cabin is gone but there is 5 acres surrounded by trees for quiet privacy for campers. It is next to a wildlife reserve thus no hunting. I want to share this historical landmark with you to enjoy our 100+ rural community.
Learn more about this land:
Private wooded area on 6 acre, nestled among the trees. No amenities just a creek going through the back drop. Wide open pasture, large enough for RV, portable picnic table, BBQ pit, large family tent, and several small tent for groups. Ideal for group camping such as boy/girl scouts, organizational or friends out camping. And still enough room to play baseball, volley ball, football etc or break off into several game projects. Long winding country roads with long hills for fun bike riding. There is a bike path that goes 10 mile east to Brazil and 10 miles west to downtown Terre Hautes, ISU campus. Take the long ride and come back, make a nice fire, cook dinner and chase the fire flies. If you have a sheet and a projector show your kids a scarey movie then lights out..... No street lights in the rural environment!!! Booooooo got ya!
