Glangwdi Glamping offers furnished bell tents in sight of Pen y Fan, the Brecon Beacon’s highest peak. For some, that alone will be reason enough to book but for others there are further temptations. The site is 2.5 acres. Take, for example, Glangwdi’s pygmy goats. There’s a daily opportunity to meet these little farmyard friends and there are ducks and chickens too. And, as if that’s not enough, this flat field in the foothills is just five miles from bustling Brecon and a short walk from woods, waterfalls and wild swimming. The bell tents themselves are yet another attraction. There are six; each pitched around the edge of a neat field on a family farm. Woven hazel fencing ensures a little privacy for each camping couple or family – this place is equally suited to both. Children will love the cute pygmy goats and adults… well let’s face it, they will love the pygmy goats too. But they’ll also love the fact that you can hike straight from site to the top of 886-metre Pen y Fan and its twin peak Corn Du. And who wouldn’t enjoy a campfire under the stars, in the shadow of the Beacons? The five and six metre bell tents are each kitted out with beds, bedding and log-burning stoves. Outside, each has the off-ground fire pit and outdoor seating regular glampers will have come to expect but there’s an added extra too: a private camp kitchen, that’s also canvas covered. It provides a sheltered place to cook and dine when the weather’s wet and welcome shade when this open field is bathed in summer sun. On such days, this is just the kind of scenic spot that could tempt you to stay on site all day but if you’re feeling adventurous the mountains will soon lure you away. Hiking, biking and wild swimming (try Llyn Cwm Llwch on way up top) are all on offer here. Closer by, Held Wood is a local favourite for walks with a series of small waterfalls within it. The Taff Trail offers well-signposted routes – towards the peaks in one direction or along country lanes to the market town of Brecon in the other.

Our beautiful home is a glamping and camping site with its own gorgeous fishing lake on the outskirts of the village of Llandyfan. You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests! We would like everyone who visits to have a great time and a relaxing break. Whilst here please be considerate towards others, to their property, and while using the facilities. If you have any concerns, please let us know. We have brought out a few rules from our T&Cs and we kindly ask that you have a read through before your stay. Litter: You must pick up your litter. Please either take it with you or recycle it appropriately in the bins onsite. There are bins around the campsite, please recycle where possible. Pitches to be left as you found them. Noise: Be respectful and consider your neighbours. Keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and before 8am in the morning. No loud music is to be played at any time. Children: Children must be supervised at all times around the campsite and can play within the pitch space allocated to you. At quiet times, it may be possible for children to use vacant pitches for play but this cannot be guaranteed. The amenity block and associated facilities are not to be used as a play area. Dogs: Must not to be left unattended. Are to be kept on leads at all times whilst on the campsite. (We are working on an enclosed dog walking area, however this is not yet available). no refunds on bookings if cancelled withing 10days of booking

The woodland was so cool during a very hot weekend and having the option to just have a sit down in the river was a game changer (the river itself is super clean and seems very healthy!). David is also a lovely host ☺️ we will definitely be coming back!

Richard, Mandy and their kids were so welcoming to my cousin, my two dogs and me. They have only recently taken over the site and have worked incredibly hard to settle in themselves but always with an eye to making it a great place for visitors too. It's a basic, eco site: the composting toilet was spotless and odour free (not always the case, I can assure you) & there are plans for a shower soon. They have big plans for this campsite and tea rooms and I'm sure with their energy and enthusiasm they will make a great success of it.

David was a fabulous and friendly host. We had a lovely pitch and the site was just right for its proximity to Pen Y Fan which was one of the reasons we picked this site. The site was great for our dog who loved the water and freedom of having some off lead adventures. David is very easy going and as long as they're not a nuisance it's fine. We loved saying hello to George the horse and he had some little treats from us. Overall a great experience however if I were to be at all critical there's only one thing .. Another few campers arrived the following day and set up their tents right in front of the toilet area making it a little awkward for us as we then had to navigate around their camp to use it. The site instructions do ask politely for campers to keep the area around the toilet accessible... but I know not everyone follows those.. I think the toilet could do with a little bit of TLC as the door is a little worn out .. also it was a bit messy in there on our arrival so I did have to have a little tidy up Overall though a great little wild camping site where you can enjoy camp fires and the tranquility and listening to the sound of the water.. we would stay here again.

We had the most wonderful stay, it is very peaceful and so lovely listening to the sound of the river. Our dog had the best time and you feel nicely removed from the other tent, we did not see anyone else while we were there. The pictures do not do the camp justice, the tent itself is now on a small platform and is a good size, mattresses and sheets were provided. There is also a table and bench there which was very handy. Only things to be aware of it is a fairly steep hill down to the camp from the parking so don't pack too heavy. We also were confused by the listing info and thought there may be a solar powered fridge but this tent is completely off grid so bring ice packs! Like the other reviews said, bring your own cutlery etc. The pub is just down the road and we did some lovely walks from the doorstep including up to sugar loaf. We definitely would stay again and hope to be back!

Perfect place to stay I had no issues, got there at a good time and had good options of where to choose, i did go mid week so can’t comment on weekends, for the price probably the best place I’ve stayed. Super nature friendly and good facilities, yes there are only two showers but as advertised it’s supposed to be similar to wild camping so can’t moan.

One night at Pytingwyn Woods wasnt enough. I originally selected David's site for its ability to handle hammocks without searching too hard for a suitable trees, plus George the resident horse was very friendly even to the 1yo we had with us. The river below our pitch was clear and easy to access if trout fishing is your thing or even cooling down after the hot weather we've had. David, while I never crossed paths for my stay, had left a message stating what to expect and the basics. Will most definitely be booking another stay for longer

We really loved this site. We were at the top of the hill with great views, close to Hay on Wye and able to walk down the the river for a paddle. The facilities were really clean and although it was quite full, they have done in such a way that there's lots of privacy.
