What to expect from an off grid stay
Stays here are better for people who enjoy campfires, stargazing and birdsong rather than bright lights or on site entertainment. Power and lighting are limited, so you will want to bring warm layers and a torch, and be happy with simple facilities. In return you get peace, space and time outdoors in Mid Wales.
The great thing about holidaying in Mid Wales is that you are central to everything. Fancy a beach day? no problem, we're just over half an hour away from the University town of Aberystwyth. Here you can take in the breath taking scenery of the coastal path or just enjoy lazy days on the beach. On the way to the coast you could stop off at Bwlch nant yr arian, and don't forget your bike!! With so many trails heading out into the spectacular scenery of the Cambrian Mountains you would have to come back for another stay to get through them.

Crafted Camping at Ty’r Felin is a small family-run camping and glamping site on the edge of the land overlooking the sea at the end of the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. It is set in a beautiful old meadow under the wooded hillside of Mynydd Rhiw overlooking the bay of Porth Neigwl or Hell's Mouth, its 4 mile sandy beach and the Cilan headland.
Ty'r Felin is a truly magical place steeped in history that feels like stepping back in time 200 years, to a place where there is no electricity cables, telephone wires, TV aerials, tarmac or street lights.
In this wild and beautiful place, Bob has created a small but beautifully made rustic eco-campsite, a place to come and camp traditional style or to glamp in comfort on the seashore with colourful washing facilities, hot showers and compost toilets.
We offer you the opportunity to get away from everything on a site with no electricity or wi-fi, and to live differently, to tread lightly on this beautiful earth.
We feel very strongly about using resources carefully, and ask guests to use water wisely and recycle everything recyclable.
Here there is space to breathe, be free, run around and relax, and just a 5 minute walk down the track from the camping field is the rocky sea shore and a little cove where you can swim, paddle, crab or snorkle, kayak, fish, surf or paddle board. You do need to bring your own equipment.
The seashore at Ty'r Felin is a great place for bird watching and looking out for dolphins. Brett from Top Cat Marine Safaris runs boat trips from the cove, to go fishing or wildlife watching.
Just across the road is the National Trust house, garden and cafe at Plas yn Rhiw, and there are 2 other cafes within a mile, one nextdoor at Treheli and Caffi Top Cat 1 mile up the hill in Rhiw where Brett and Nia serve local seafood and delicious cakes.
Porth y Swnt visitor centre in the cove village of Aberdaron is 3 miles away, Plas glyn y weddw art gallery and cafe in Llanbedrog is 8 miles, Abersoch is 9 miles, and Pwllheli and its supermarkets is 12 miles. There are lots of beaches and rocky cliffs in the area and a stunning coastal path.

The Yurt has a beautiful glow of an evening when the log burner is roaring, candles lit and a bottle of wine opened. You can enjoy a spot of stargazing through the starlight panel, really making for that romantic getaway.
Your private outdoor kitchen is located perfectly next to the yurt making it just a few paces from the bed to put the kettle on. The kitchen is fully equipped for what ever meals you might end up cooking, along with a small supply of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, salt, pepper and oil. A small cool box is supplied with ice packs, there's also a two ring gas hob and washing up sink.
Drinking water will be supplied separately in bottles.
The Yurt and kitchen area have a fence surrounding them, giving you that piece of mind if you have your furry friend with you. You also have access to the surrounding field so your pooch can really stretch their legs.
The outdoor (flushing) toilet and shower shack will be used by you only. We only have one yurt onsite meaning that you have the whole glamping field and amenities to yourself.
There are no mains electricity in the glamping field but there are plenty of solar and battery powered lights at hand to help you navigate in the dark and to set the mood of an evening. There will also be a power bank available in the yurt which has enough power to charge phones or tablets 5 times.
There isn't wifi available in the glamping area but phone signal is great including access to 4G. So get those programmes and films pre downloaded.
You will be supplied with your first basket of logs free of charge, further baskets can be purchased onsite at a small additional cost. These logs can be used for both the log burner and firepit.
We have free range poultry on the farm so don't be surprised if they give you a visit in the glamping field. There is always an abundance of fresh chicken and duck eggs along with other farm delights, available from the corner unit shop.

My yurt was absolutely beautiful, and the location is truly wonderful - properly off grid in the Welsh countryside, the only noise you can hear is the wind and the river! I walked for hours in the valley and didn't come across another soul, this is a great place to truly get into nature whilst still having home comforts. Would highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Graig Wen - Wild Snowdonia Escapes
The site was fantastic. Stunning location, walking distance of plenty of walks. All the different camping sections had plenty of space and Sarah was supper friendly and helpful. When we got back too late for the shop, Sarah left wood out for us so we could have a fire (paid the following day). Easy to check in and out. Our yurt was clean, spacious and all the essentials were provided.
The midges were in force, but supplies available at the shop to keep them at bay.

A wonderful, cosy space with great views! The directions were easy enough and quite straightforward to access the Yurt. The facilities were clean and well organised. We especially appreciated the electric blanket provided but with the log burner on, it was comfortably warm inside! The reading books and board game was a nice touch, too. I would highly recommend.
A few suggestions: Some light directly outside of the Yurt would be helpful as it got quite dark and was hard to locate the door handle at times.

Lovely place. Clean facilities and powerful hot showers. Karen was helpful.
Unfortunately, our last night there (when we had an early start the next day) was a bit noisy as the red kite yurt is located between the communal lodge, the main toilet block and there was a tent full of noisy teenagers nearby. Maybe a noise curfew is needed at a certain time?

The yurt was beautiful, it felt spacious inside. Care has been given to zoning the space to segregate children and adults sleeping areas. The garden area is incredibly generous outside with a large lawn area and a big decking area. Lovely bathroom with a delightful shower. The hot tub takes effort but was worth the time spent lighting the fire.

Well equipped and in a beautiful setting, it even had wild deer roaming around the grounds which was very special to see. We took a trip to Barmouth which was close by and a hike up to Arthog waterfalls.

This is without doubt one of the best places we have stayed! We have been in so many types of accommodation from pods, huts, cabins, tepees, tents, caravans, the works but this had all the fine touches that made it a really amazing place to stay. Everything had been thought of and it is all beautifully done so you don’t have to worry just pack your bags and a towel and you’re good to go.
The setting is stunning with the surrounding fields and hills. There is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the tranquility, even sun loungers for the nice weather. Inside the hut, there is plenty of space to sit, eat and enjoy the comforts of a warm bed (the heated blanket is a brilliant idea and definitely needed for the colder evenings). There is a tv and sockets provided but we loved the added touch of board games and books so we could completely switch off from the world. The kitchen is fully equipped with kettle, toaster, stove, microwave and all the utensils and the bathroom was everything you need. The owners are lovely and extremely welcoming, showing us around it all and ensuring we had everything we needed.
Handy tip take some fire wood or coal as it does get chilly however we did get by with just the heated blanket and just a note it’s a bit of a hill to get in but perfectly manageable even in a small car.
If you’re thinking of booking definitely do you won’t be disappointed!

We had a lovely time, Sarah provided coal and wood and once the fire got going it was warm & cozy inside. Electric blanket, hot water bottles & blankets provided so, we didn’t feel cold at all. The bathroom is very simple, the loo is a porta potti. It was clean though! Easy to contact the host & lots of information given in the welcome document. The kitchen is outside, fridge available & there is everything you may need. Overall we had a lovely trip away.
The only thing we would mention is that we wish there was some sort of lighting directly outside the yurt as there are some steps to get to the kitchen / bathroom & you couldn’t see if you sat outside at night time, we needed to keep a torch on.

Amazing location, yurt and facilities. Trust the map and directions and keep going!! Directions aren’t tricky to follow but you do keep going up and up and up and it’s very much worth it when you get there.
Beautiful valley, and the yurt is in a perfect place to appreciate it. The fire powered hot tub bath was used many times, the yurt was warm, clean and well equipped. Margaret was very responsive to a couple of questions.

We had a wonderful weekend at Tipis at Ponty! Yurt Mary was really comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed with lots of nice touches - especially brownies on arrival.
The little garden area with outdoor kitchen had a great view over the landscape. The site and setting generally is beautifully maintained and feels very peaceful.
The shop on site was well stocked with good food and Jane and Ian cooked delicious pizza for guests in the communal space one night.
A breakfast order of bacon baps or croissants is available in the morning and there’s plenty of information provided on nearby places to walk or visit.
We came with our dog and she appeared to love it too! We’d love to come back and would recommend to others.

We had the most comfortable stay at Edens Nook, it’s in an excellent location near to Lake Vyrnwy and a waterfall to the north. We had a gas bbq to ourselves, and we were lucky enough to receive the best gift from Jane and Neville to use on the bbq. There also an inside bbq for the rainy days. Jane was the greatest host, she’s an insane cook and made us breakfast every morning which was exquisite! If you want to surprise your spouse with a trip away I highly recommend staying here for at least 4 days, well worth the money.
