Craving a peaceful time filled with wildlife watching, long walks and relaxing by the water? On the banks of the River Severn, Baldwin’s Brook Glamping in Gloucestershire fits the bill.
This small site is a wildlife haven adjacent to the Severn Way, a long-distance trail which traces the river downstream. Birdwatching prospects are excellent here, and there’s plenty of peace if you’d rather sit and relax by a firepit or check out the stunning views and sunsets. The site is part of a working family farm with lots of livestock.
From the farm, it’s a 45-minute walk to Frampton on Severn, which is home to the longest village green in England and the lively Frampton Country Fair (think funfair… and 400 stalls full of good stuff). Baldwin’s Brook Glamping is also half an hour’s walk away from the Cotswold Canal Trust Visitor Centre by The Gloucester and Sharpness Canal if you’d like to grab a spot on a boat trip or sip a coffee by the canal.
When you'd rather have a chilled beer, two pubs are within half a mile of the site (only 10 minutes’ walk away). Strike up a conversation with a local about the next Severn Bore, the huge tidal wave which races for 25 miles from Awre to Gloucester down the estuary just a handful of times per year.

Off the beaten track on top of the Mendips in an area of outstanding natural beauty. A mixture of four acres of wild woodland, orchard and field set on a hillside. Our Yurt is set up in the trees giving you peaceful seclusion and a clear view across the sea to Wales and the mountains of the Brecon Beacons. A huge range of activities are possible or you can lie in the hammock with a good book. We have very friendly dogs and rescue chickens who may come and visit. Wild deer wander past in the early morning mist and the odd buzzard picks an argument with a bunch of crows but nothing much else should disturb you. We moved here after an 18 month search 8 years ago. It was close to everything we wanted and we've spent some time getting a bit closer.

The two camps are at opposite ends of the woodland and are set up with two Tentsile tree tents each. It is quiet, peaceful and lovely, great for birdwatching. The Bannau Brycheiniog, (the Brecon Beacons) are a stone's throw away, you can see them from our property. The A40 and Llandovery train station are just minutes away.

The Historical Tram, First Class Carriage- Tiny Home with spectacular Views.
The Tram is a beautifully restored lower deck first class Tram carriage. This Historic Tram was built by the Wallasey Tram Co. in 1902, offers bespoke holiday accommodation. The Tram is unique & quirky & has lots of original features, a few additions including woodburner, 1 double bed, indoor/outdoor cooking & seating, kitchen, fridge, microwave, bbq, everything you need, veranda with spectacular views down the valley to distant mountains & private garden. Bathroom with flushing loo & hot shower.
The Tram once had two spiral staircases at either end which provided access to the top deck, (check photos for what it used to look like) unfortunately, we only have the lower deck, however, the lower deck was the much more opulant first class carriage and this shows in the lovely attention to detail that was created when craftsmen built it in 1902c. Made from wood It has beautiful carving, fret and filigre woodwork inside and lovely beveled glass quarter light windows, many of which still open. We have kept the inside simple to not interfere with the authenticity of this beautiful space. Our Tram was number 75 as found on the back of the door during restoration, however, there is a photo & video of number 78 (the last one they made) all fully restored by the Wallasey Tram Museum on their website.
Inside is an open plan space with a glass fronted woodburner, 5’ wide comfy double bed (width of tram is 5’’ 10” so this is the length of bed), mains fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, electric rings for cooking, electric heater, table and chairs, radio, games, OS maps leaflets of things to do in the area, all finished off with silk curtains and LED lighting behind the air vents. 1 original bench seat.
Outside under the Veranda is the kitchen with sink, shelving with pots and pans, bins and wooden work surface,. This is all under the verandha that stretches around two sides of the Tram. Led lighting for outside dining with table and chairs, bench & Small patio area with bbq in the front and rear garden where the NEW bespoke flushing loo and hot electric shower is situated in the back garden about 10 feet behind the Tram in its own building.
There are spectacular 40 mile views looking East down the Severn valley with mountains on either sides, spectacular sunrises. Ideal for getting away for it all, We are down a long track with no neighbours, only sheep, peace and quiet with spectacular views.
Sorry, but we have to have a strictly ‘No Dogs’ policy as we are completely surrounded by sheep!

Thanks Mark for the lovely stay! The area is secluded and picturesque, which really gave us the feeling of living a nomadic life with just the basic amenities.
A few tips for future visitors:
Bring a hanging light or headlamp, as it gets very dark and there’s no lighting provided.
There’s a gas stove and cooking area, but you’ll need to bring your own utensils.
Pack warm duvets and thick jackets if you’re visiting in autumn, as nights can get very cold.
🚗 Important: Do not drive your car down to the tent. Park just after entering the gate and walk down instead. I missed the host’s message about this, got stuck trying to drive back up, and had to be rescued by a farmer with his tractor (thankfully the host responded quickly and was super helpful!).
Despite that little adventure, I absolutely loved the stay and would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a unique experience without the hassle of putting up a tent yourself.

Great camp site , everything is well organised and well tought . Suzi has put an enormous amount of work and dedication to make this camp site so unique and welcoming. Suzi has gone above and beyond with meticulous arrangements for Geodomes, nice clean and spacious , full off blankets , linens , lamps and gadgets like fans .
Her welcom book / guide it is an essence of valuable information where to go and what are best local places to visit .
Suzi itself is an very open and friendly person , always ready to help and support.
Perfect spot for star gazing.Very dark nights.
Cooking/ dining shack is absolutely amazing( brilliant idea itself), everything is there, you can even cook or make bbq during rainy day. Camping stove in situ.
Honesty shop - needed essential in situ , wood logs , charcoal , local products like jams ,tea , eggs and coffe .
Dog friendly site.
Recycling zone present .
Would return next year .
Can not complaint about anything, everything is well maintained - general site conditions including utilities, essentials and building conditions.
Very nice place , come and rejoice with nature.

We had the most wonderful few days Glamping at Sam and Matt’s, there’s nothing you need or want that hasn’t already been thought of and provided with care.
We had the absolute pleasure of learning all about Matt’s bees (with fashionable bee suits) and kayaking down the river with our pooch Dudley.
Honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough, just perfect to get out of the City and enjoy this hidden oasis of calm.

We had the best time glamping! The location is absolutely stunning, and we were lucky enough to have perfect weather, which made it even more special. The tipi tent was cosy and beautifully set up with everything we could possibly need for a comfortable stay. We also loved having our own private bathroom and kitchen – so well equipped and such a lovely touch.
Sam and Matt were amazing hosts – warm, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything. We borrowed the kayaks, which was such a fun experience, and my dog happily sat between my legs while we paddled around. There’s also the option to rent paddle boards if you fancy mixing it up. On top of that, Matt has a few bee bays, so you can even enjoy a fascinating bee experience while you’re there – such a unique and memorable activity!
It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, and we came away feeling refreshed and happy. We honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to come back again!

We stayed in one of Sam and Matt’s three tipis which are set in a peaceful location with a river running by and spectacular views of the countryside and local wildlife. The tipis have plenty of room and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The facilities are excellent, a separate building several steps away from each tipi offers a private kitchen and a spotless bathroom with large shower and fluffy towels.
The tipis are set back from the farm and fresh eggs from the free range hens and honey from the bees at the farm were given to us on arrival. They were so good that we bought some to take home with us. Also milk, cider and some delicious homemade cake were a great welcoming after our journey.
Sam and Matt are excellent hosts, giving great recommendations on places to eat out and walks with our dog.
We had a wonderful few days celebrating my husband’s birthday and later, our wedding anniversary. This place is a hidden gem. It offers a warm welcome, great facilities, is dog friendly and in a beautiful location.
You don’t need to wait for a special occasion, this place is a real treat and shouldn’t be missed.

Delighted with our accommodation. It was comfortable, stylish, and had every facility. A wonderful hot tub.
Helen was a great host, e mailing a really useful handbook, about the Lodge, & area.
I appreciated the fact that all the essential items like soap, dishwasher tablets, salt, pepper, teabags etc etc were supplied…! A great base to enjoy visiting an interesting area.

Amazing lodges, our family had Kites Nest and Barn Owl Lodge and they were perfect for our group size, including a toddler and elderly woman! They were comfortable and gorgeous. Interiors and views were stunning, I couldn't believe the sunsets at night, the hot tubs were such a treat and both lodges had fantastic seating areas on the deck, we went on the steam railway and enjoyed a BBQ at the lodge. Would love to come back next year.

Fabulous site. Small, but pitches well spaced so even if there were people on all pitches it wouldn't feel busy or loud. Geodome was very comfortable with heater and proper bed. Would definitely recommend and if we were to visit the area again (possibly still lots of things in the area we didn't see/do) then we would stay here again.

We want to give the best feedback possible for Tim and the yurt. Tim is a fantastic host, so helpful, makes himself available for any enquiries and local information, and genuinely cares that his guests are well looked after. It really wasa complete experience for us as Tim welcomes well behaved dogs too.
The yurt is a dream! So comfortable, everything you could possibly need to be warm and cosy and prepare easy food , especially with Tim’s own hens eggs, and breakfast and barbecue packs (much of which are from the organic farm just down the road) a lovely bonus . Super wood burner, a quilt which has had me looking online since we got back it’s so warm and comfortable and the setting is beautiful in its own paddock (which our dog loved!) with lovely views. The washing up, shower and compost loo facilities were so convenient on the decking next to the yurt, well lit at night by sensor lights, clean with all the all required products supplied, and eco friendly too.
The lovely bottle of Prosecco and fresh apple juice were a really kind and very much appreciated gift. We would recommend anyone to stay here and we shall certainly be coming back. THANK YOU!!

We absolutely loved our few days at Gurt Yurt and cannot recommend it highly enough. Our boys are aged 9 and 7, and this was a dream trip for them: beautiful views over the countryside, deer, buzzards, Tim’s hens and so much space to run around and play. They loved the tyre swings and hammock too. The beds were super cosy and the yurt is equipped with a wood burner, electric blanket and hot water bottles which kept us warm on the cool April nights. Tim is a lovely host - so accommodating, knowledgeable about the area, and goes above and beyond to ensure his guests have a great experience. We will treasure our camp fire memories and the time we spent here. Hope to return again soon.

Weekend Trip to Wydale Farm Tipis
First time booking through Hipcamp and couldn’t have booked with better people! The location in it’s self was beautiful, right next to the river which was ideal for making the most of the kayaks provided. The kitchen was well equipped making it easy for us to cook on the hob or even make use of the campfire bbq. The tipi was beautifully wrapped in fairy lights and had games to keep us entertained in the evenings. The tipis feel private, with a private kitchen and shower room (all super clean!) allowing for your own space. The surrounding noise is minimal, making for a peaceful weekend in nature. The hosts were beyond welcoming and helpful, making the trip even more memorable. They have put a lot of thought and effort into the tipi stays and I would 100% recommend to anyone.
