One of the things people love about staying here is the amazing views - including watching the moon rise over the mountains. The developing Clwydian dark sky region means there are great views of the night sky and sometimes northern lights.
You may just want to hang out and relax but there’s lots to do too!
There are lovely local forest and waterside walks, neolithic burial sites, a stone circle, Osprey, butterfly and (if you are lucky) red squirrel watching, a secret waterfall and river swimming, easy and challenging off road cycling options, access to water sports. Or if you want to use a car to help get up higher the Clwydian and Berwyn Mountains and Eryri (Snowdon) National Park are all within a half an hour drive.
If history and mooching is your thing we are just 5 miles from Ruthin - one of the oldest existing Tudor towns - boasting an historic gaol, a craft centre with regular exhibitions and a castle with a spa and peacocks.
Denbigh with its stunning castle, Corwen, Llangollen, Llyn Tegid (Bala) and the North Wales Coast are easy to reach by car. There are also options for days out using public transport including taking a steam train. Please ask - they aren't all known to Google!
The nearby village has a community run pub and shop with the Glan Llyn tafan offering food by local gastro company Sorbus. In fact there are loads of great little villages near by each with their own character and points of interest including great cafes, walks, Punjabi pub food, historic churches and sacred wells.

Guests to Rhos y Gallt describe the campsite as a little gem of a site - small, quite and tranquil with wonderful sunsets. The site can accommodate up to 5 caravans and 10 tents situated on a level 2 acre site within the beautiful rolling hills of Montgomeryshire in Mid Wales.
There are hard standing pitches with electric hook-up as well as grass pitches with and without electric hook-up. There is also a field bordering a river which is used for wild camping - but you'll have to share it with the sheep!
The toilet block has a family wet room with shower, toilet, wash hand basin and baby changing unit, a separate toilet, shower and kitchen area with freezer.
The site borders a river meadow where visitors can wonder down and take a walk down with the river bank, relax by the water edge, throw a few skimmers, do a spot of fishing or even go wild water swimming (at your own risk!).
Well behaved dogs are welcome (maximum 2 per unit).
We were delighted to receive a nomination for The Camping and Caravanning Club Best Hideaway Site in 2021 and grateful to our wonderful guests for the nomination.

If you want camping away from the crowd in a beautiful serene part of the world then this is for you. So quiet and peaceful. As a small site we had two other "neighbours" about 50 yards away so you really did feel like you were the only ones there.
Great facilities though quite rustic. Access road is narrow and would struggle with large camper or caravan.
Hosts were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. If you do stay then Lake Vyrnwy down the road is a must.,

This was our first time taking our 5-year-old camping, and he absolutely loved it! The campsite is in a beautiful, peaceful location with stunning open views across the hills, making it the perfect place to relax and switch off.
The host was welcoming and friendly, and the site felt wonderfully secluded while still being easy to access. We had a fantastic stay and made some great family memories.
We'd definitely visit again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet countryside escape. Highly recommended!!!

Holy moly, I can't believe how stunning this place is and how cheap for the exclusive use! We absolutely loved our stay here, beauty & wild nature all around, no other annoying campers disturbing our peace, totally perfect. The compost loo was clean and had a lovely view like everywhere else at our spot. Plenty of pretty stony streams not far away to have a wash which I much prefer to showers any day! So quiet, not even the distant rumble of any roads, just lots of lovely birdsong, the breeze and the gentle fluttering of the many butterflies' wings in our meadow-with-a-view. Felt like a real privilege to be there. We'll definitely be back. Thanks Ryan & family for our wonderful weekend getaway ❤️😊

The pitch is great, the grass is lush and the tree line is great. The facilities were always clean. The single inconvenience was the fact that the river looked either heavy polluted or way to dirty to actually let the kids play in it.

I stayed here from the 5th to the 7th June with just my dog and had a fantastic time. The views are incredible, and the peace and quiet were exactly what I was looking for.
The host was very welcoming and stopped by for a chat on the Saturday, which was a nice personal touch. My dog loved it too, and as sheep roam freely across the mountain, keeping dogs on a lead is absolutely the right thing to do.
The weather was a mix of sunshine, rain, clouds, and cold nights, but it didn’t take away from the experience. The raised fire pit was a great addition and helped protect the ground.
The description clearly states 4x4 access is recommended. I managed to get my VW Golf to a pitch near the top, but I wouldn’t advise trying it unless you’re confident driving on rough tracks.
Overall, a beautiful, peaceful site that I would happily return to. Highly recommended.

Lovely hosts with a peaceful site, on our last morning our host made a lovely full English for us which was brilliant! Everything we needed they accommodated for (we forgot our gas tube and they let us borrow theirs too).
A truly lovely place, will be returning.

Everything about here is what we wanted.
The 2 showers are very clean. The 2 toilets are very clean. There is a room with a fridge, microwave and sink ect which is very clean. The grounds are VERY well kept. Not a huge campsite which is perfect for what we wanted... although you have the option of camping in the joining field were the sheep are too! The river running along side the field was so lovely too! ( bring a couple of little rods as there are fish). The owners are lovely too! They pop down each day to check in and make sure you have everything you need. When we first arrived our electric adaptor wasn't working so without hesitation John offered us to borrow his for the weekend.
Couple of things to make note of.. the showers are on a £1 per 5 minutes ( wasn't a problem for us as a family of 5).
There isn't a local shop but there is a large tesco 25 minutes down the road (although the lady next to us got a Morriston food order delivery the night she arrived which we will be doing next time)
Its a dark campsite at night so make sure you bring your torches and put up your fairy lights ❤️

Great stay over the bank holiday weekend. Lovely flat site that was really well maintained throughout our stay. We were greeted by John with the fire pit we had ordered, along with a large tray of logs — plenty for a full evening around the fire.
The toilets were cleaned and maintained daily, and the whole site had a peaceful, quiet atmosphere. There are also some great walks along the river nearby which made it even better.
Would definitely recommend — 5 stars!

What a great find! Very spacious campsite with a couple of bell tents and a small number of camping pitches… and loads of space. Useful farm shop on site selling burgers and sausages for BBQs. Fire pits and wood/kindling all reasonably priced. Very useful indoor space with washing up facilities, honesty bar, kettle, toaster and more! Felt welcome to wander around the farm. Great walks near by. Ian and Stef very welcoming.

We really enjoyed our stay with Stef and Ian with four friends sharing the yurt (one double bed and two camp beds pre-made for us).
The private space is secluded from other parts of the farm and the views are beautiful to wake up to each morning.
We really appreciated the facilities available, including a pizza oven, bbq, sink with running water, electricity, hot plate, dishes, cutlery, wooden bench seating and a private compost toilet. We also had access to the main shower and toilet block, just a short walk uphill and the onsite bar and honesty shop (great for a top up of fire wood).
The only thing that we would have benefitted from is an area of shade or tarp that could be pulled over the seating area, as we lucked out with the weather being so warm!
Thank you both. We would definitely recommend and may very well be back for a return visit in the future.
