Hello and thank you for choosing Fat Apples Wild Camp Site!
Less than half a mile from Porthallow beach, our small family run wild campsite has around ten pitches spread throughout an old Cornish woodland, located just behind Fat Apples Café. We are also close to the half way mark of the Southwest Coast Path!
The village of St. Keverne is a five minute drive and has a Spar, baker, butcher, two pubs and a newsagents. When open, the café serves breakfast and lunches, and also has essentials for sale. Please check our café opening days as you will need to bring your own supplies if you are staying on the days we are closed!
The campsite is open seven days a week from April to the end of October (weather permitting).
The camp pitches are wild, and a short distance away we have a coin operated (hot) shower, WC and cold-water dishwashing sink.
There is no vehicular access to the site, cars are left about 100 yards away in our yard. We have wheelbarrows to help unload kit.
Throughout the year we run a variety of events, such as, music nights, courses, an ongoing bookswap and private parties. Our camp area is becoming well known for outdoor retreats and educational visits.
We allow small campfires on site in fire pits or baskets. Logs and basket are £13.50.
The café is open (9.30am-4.00pm).
Thursday to Sunday from the 5th March 2026.
Wednesday-Sunday April- End of August.
Thursday-Sunday September and October.
We also run BBQ evenings on a pop-up basis in the summer season.
It is a good idea to book breakfast or lunch in the café as it gets very busy.
The Village of Porthallow has a lovely pub on the beach called The Five Pilchards Inn. In calm weather it is great swimming, snorkelling and kayaking/boating area.

This peaceful, sheltered site has a special character. The site is the ideal place to unwind with plenty of safe space, a meandering river and friendly atmosphere. It offers 4 acres with facilities, 7 acres of wilderness, shower block, level pitches, picturesque river, children’s playground and has been rated AA 4 star gold pennant.
Becky and John both love Cornwall and fell in love with the site as soon as they saw it and it provided the perfect opportunity for a new challenge.
Having only recently taken over at Willow Valley in the Summer of 2024, there are always ongoing improvements being made so make sure you keep in touch. Any returning campers will be glad to know we aren’t changing the campsite itself though. Why would we when it is already so perfect!

Feel at ease on every pitch at Sunset Camping, a quiet and very welcoming family-friendly campsite in central Cornwall. This west-facing spot is well positioned to soak up all-day sunshine and has some truly lovely views over the surrounding area.
Here you can watch the sun setting over the sea, take an evening stroll along the coast at Portreath's dog-friendly beach (10 minutes' drive), or relax with your pet (if you've brought one) over an end-of-day barbecue or campfire back at base. As for your days, you won't be short of options to fill them here: this centrally located site is within an hour's drive of most of the Cornish mainland, with top highlights like the Lizard Peninsula, Falmouth, Newquay, St Ives and Padstow all easy to reach.
Sunset Camping is in a particularly prime location for walkers and cyclists, close as it is to the protected coastal areas around Godrevy and St Agnes (both 10 minutes), the Coast To Coast Trail and the Great Flat Lode Trail (10 minutes), steeped in attractive country views and Cornish mining history.
Redruth (five minutes) is conveniently close to hand too, with pubs, cafés, supermarkets, a cinema and a railway station where you can set off on car-free day trips. Even closer to home are a dog-friendly pub, a discount supermarket and a play park (at North Country) – all of these are within a handy 10-minute stroll.

Nestled on the hilltops near Bucks Mills and Clovelly, 10-15min walk by footpath from the SW coast path, our 13 acre smallholding-in-progress offers rustic nearly-wild camping in our wildflower meadows. Share your space with hares, deer, foxes, owls, songbirds, field voles, bees and butterflies.
The views from the fields are a well kept local secret - from your tent or van look out over Hartland, Lundy island, Saunton, Croyde, Exmoor and Dartmoor, even Pembrokeshire on a clear day!
FACILITIES:
In keeping with our low impact approach, the fields are just fields, but with the addition of some picnic benches! A flushing toilet, drinking water, hot shower, charging and WiFi are found by the farmhouse.
BBQs and fires permitted off the ground and we have fire pits for loan and logs for sale. Please pack out all rubbish and leave NO trace.
Dogs welcome under close control - please avoid meadow centres in summer to protect the nesting skylarks and ensure they do NOT chase the wildlife.
ACCESS:
Easily accessible by 4WD, and 2WD in summer/when dry. Be aware it's a grassy uphill track, if your vehicle is not great off-road... (but everyone so far has been fine!) The views are worth the walk though! Campervans have backup options lower down near the house.
THE SITE:
Nature spot, relax and stargaze across our 4 fields. We recently planted 800 trees for a new woodland, created a wildlife pond, and are establishing a traditional cider orchard. Rose looks after our vegetable garden and usually has some native breed piglets. Our apiary is managed by Jon who will happily explain about bees... and sell you a jar of honey for breakfast.
Note - the area is agricultural with very occasional farm noise and odour.
We are pleased to be a South West Coast Path Waymaker, and welcome walkers. We also welcome anyone enjoying the Atlantic Highway or South West 660. We like classics and have spanners!

This 4 bedroom Kiwi Beach House is perfectly positioned right on the South West Coastal Path, making it within easy reach of fabulous local Blue Flag awarded beaches.
The stunning views over the North Cornwall coastline are not all this house has to offer. Sleeping 8 over 4 bedrooms, families will really appreciate the bunk beds and the versatility of the zip and link beds, providing an option of super-king or twin in 2 of the bedrooms.
Perfect for families and friends the large open plan living area is home to the luxury kitchen which has been appointed with quality appliances, dining area and lounge. The private garden backs on to open farmland and has a large lawn which is perfect for games, and a lovely patio area with a garden table and BBQ.
Guests will have access to the entire property.

Weekend Trip to Coverack Camping & Glamping
The tent was bigger than I imagined, very sheltered and private. Loved the considerations to the environment, the compost loos, solar panels. Great communication when I enquired about firewood. Easy access to Coverack, great coastal walks and swimming beaches nearby. Would highly recommend.

We had such a wonderful two-night stay at Elm Farm with two friends and our two dogs. The location was absolutely perfect, just a short drive to lots of beautiful beaches, with Porthtowan being a real highlight for us as it brought back childhood memories of visiting.
The facilities at Elm Farm were excellent and made our stay really comfortable. The hosts were so welcoming and attentive, and they went out of their way to give us loads of great recommendations for places to explore nearby.
One of the best surprises was discovering their café on the bike hire side, the food was absolutely amazing and not to be missed!
We couldn’t have asked for a better base for our trip. We’d definitely recommend Elm Farm to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in a fantastic location, and we’ll certainly be returning.

5 nights at Surf Pods and Camping at Atlantic Farm
Lovely campsite, the pods look like Tellytubby Land! It's a bit of a walk into Bude probably 40mins but the park and ride is almost opposite the site and very reasonable. We stayed in the Tree House, it was comfy and clean. It has a kettle, microwave, toaster, BBQ and fridge which is so convenient. Would recommend taking your usual cooking kit as there are plates, mugs, bowls and glasses but not pots and pans or stove. I might also take a picnic table if you like to sit in the sun as the seating area is shady. No curtains means you need a sleep mask if you like a dark room but I loved waking up to the sight of a blue sky. Would also recommend a torch for going up and down the steps at night.

We have been camping for over 25 years now and this is by far the best campsite we have stayed on . This is due to the lovely and welcoming owners . The largest pitch we have ever stayed on with outstanding views . The dogs being able to be off the lead on your pitch . We didn’t need to move the van off the site as the South West Coastal path was a 15 minute walk away . One day we walked to Peppercombe beach then the next day we walked in the other direction to Bucks Mills . We honestly didn’t want to go home as it was so peaceful and relaxing there. Before we left I bought 3 jars of their own honey and two jars are meant for Christmas presents but it’s so delicious that it might not make it !!!! We will definitely go back and also tell our friends about this wonderful site.

Lovely campsite. Amazing views with so much space as only 3 pitches. Shower was an added bonus and flushing toilet, all very clean and well looked after. Great attention to detail on all aspects of the site. Rose and Jon were such lovely hosts. We stayed 2 nights but would have loved to stay more. Close to the costal path and 15 mins walking distance to The Hoops pub. Delicious home grown honey that can be bought. Can’t fault anything.

A beautiful place with stunning views. So much space between the pitches that it’s pretty close to a wild camping experience. Gorgeous wild flowers around the site that make the space feel considered without feeling overly manicured. We forgot our air bed and Rose was so helpful in lending us some cushions to sleep on. 100% recommend and I hope to be back soon.

Absolutely amazing. What a find! We felt truly blessed to have this site to ourselves for the first night, and even when others arrived on the second night, it is such a low density campsite that you hardly notice other people there. It was so relaxing to be able to have our two lively dogs off lead, chasing each other around the meadow while we sat back & enjoyed a local cider or two, watching the sunset over the North Devon coast. The pitches are generous and the picnic benches were very useful. Our Ford Transit Custom struggled a little bit on the hill on the first attempt, but with a bit more oomph we managed just fine. The facilities are immaculate. The owners and their dog are lovely! We bought some of the honey which we have yet to try, but it looks really delicious. This is one of the best campsites I've been to and we will absolutely come again next time we're in the area.

The bell tents are beautiful and come with everything you need - pots, pans, a kettle, a stove and cool box. Tent looks out over playground and children loved it. Campsite is high up with gorgeous views but can be windy so bring warm clothes! Will return!

Wow, what a find! So pleased we came across Jon and Rose’s campsite, it was just what we were looking for! Being self sufficient in our camper, this spot is just perfect. A secluded small campsite with generous pitches and absolutely stunning views with wildlife to watch as the sun sets. The owners are just lovely, very helpful in sharing some local tips! The (brand new) shower and toilet facilities are really clean. Our time here was perfect, quiet, undisturbed with beautiful views. Can’t wait to come back when in the area!

Weekend Trip to Willow Valley Holiday Park
We had a lovely stay in the school bus! It was surprisingly roomy and very well equipped. Hosts were very welcoming on arrival and always about should we have needed help during our stay.
