As you'd expect from a site with such a name, there's a whole lot of space in which to relax and explore at 5 Acres, a large grassy site in the Somerset Levels. Kids and dogs are both welcome on site here, and there's plenty of scope for them to run about and play games safely away from barbecues and campfires (which are also permitted to keep you warm and fed in the evenings). Facilities on site include firepits, a toilet and shower block and outdoor sinks with mains water. We no longer sell logs. Nearest supplier is Knight Bros Garage. Dogs must be kept on leads at all time. We class ourselves as a quite site so no amplified music. The premier pitch is fully enclosed so dogs can be let off the lead. There is a maximum of six people allowed on this pitch at any one time. Visitors are allowed as long as the total number of people doesn't exceed six and they are chargeable at the overnight rate and must leave by 18:00 - Sorry, had the envelope pushed a bit! Mains hook ups are 6Amp max rated. Pitches are approximately 16m x 16m. The flag, firepit and pitch number line up in the centre of your pitch. The surrounding Somerset Levels aren’t just out in the sticks – they also produce them. Willow cane has been cultivated the traditional way in this part of the county for hundreds of years and can be seen growing within a mile of 5 Acres. The Levels are also a wildlife haven, making them an all-round top choice for country walks along the many trails nearby. And while this may be a rural retreat, it's also one that's easy to get to as it's just off the A378 (no winding country lanes to negotiate for this one…) Taunton town centre, with its wide range of shops and supermarkets, is a 15-minute drive away. The closest pub and coffee shop are five minutes away by road.

Emmetts on Exmoor is part of the highest farm on the moor, up at an altitude of 1250 feet with gorgeous views out over the surrounding scenery of the national park. You won't find a better place for spotting wildlife right from your tent! Red deer herds regularly frequent the moor which is opposite your pitch. Other wildlife in the area include cuckoos, woodpeckers, golden plovers, foxes and much more! This is a place that’s big on space but small on guest numbers (just four pitches which are not visible from one another), so there’s always plenty of space around to soak up the rural atmosphere, spot wildlife and play games. The site is unmanned so make sure you have all the info you need before setting off and it’s worth noting that Exmoor National Park was designated Europe’s first Dark Sky Reserve back in 2011, so you should hopefully be in for spectacular displays of stars by night too. Unsurprisingly, this is a great area for walks and mountain bike rides; other activities in the area include things like fishing, sailing and pony trekking. If you’ve still got any energy left after that little lot, the farm’s all-weather tennis court is available to hire for a game or two. There is a proper shower and loo available next to the car parking area and all pitches are approximately a 500 metre walk away from this area through woodland and across pasture. Remember the site is off-grid so it’s a good idea to remember to bring along a torch. Guests are welcome to bring along a barbecue or hire a firepit and purchase wood onsite. Simonsbath (5 minutes) has a pub and a tearoom and Exford and Withypool (both within 15 minutes) have good village shops for picking up any other supplies you might need. The Poltimore Arms and The Exmoor Forest Inn are two very local pubs that are well worth a visit.

We are 9 miles from the mystical Glastonbury Abbey and Tor and directly on a Sustrans 33 cycle path route. The River Brue runs alongside the campsite with damsel flies fluttering by and kingfishers darting back and forth. We are on the Somerset levels so the sunsets are amazing as well as night time stargazing. We have a private, wooden jetty where you can launch your own paddle board. We had a fantastic time at Lickham Bottom camp. We stayed at ‘Oak Tree Nook.’ The camp was beautiful and so ingeniously put together. The Bell tent was really comfortable and having hot showers was so welcome. The children had an absolute blast playing badminton, trivial pursuit and jenga from the games shed, lying in the hammocks and playing on the swing. I would definitely recommend.

I picked a special plot, tucked in the corner of a field with far reaching view across the valley! So pleased to have spent anothet night under canvas in this gorgeous part of the Blackdown Hills. Julian is very approachable, making me a lovely cafetiere of coffee in the morning. The plumbed in Shower and WC's are tucked into the corner of the barn, very tidy in a rustic way, and much appreciated. I hope to return again in a couple of weeks .... Thank You Goren Farm!

Such a peaceful and beautiful campsite! Pitching up right among the wildflowers in the Blackdown Hills was absolute bliss. The site strikes the perfect balance between wild camping and thoughtful facilities, great warm showers in the converted horsebox, clean compost toilets, and private pitches well spaced apart. The cafe on-site is fantastic, too, make sure to grab a fresh cream tea before you leave! Highly recommended for families or anyone looking to properly switch off. Will definitely be back.

An absolutely fantastic campsite, we loved everything about it! It was so peaceful I stunning countryside and we mostly had the site to ourselves. The children loved playing endlessly in the stream and they enjoyed the play area and stroking the loveable dog; Bear. The toilets were pristine. We were fine getting up the steep slope but it would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. We can't wait to come back next year!

Idyllic campsite with acres of space, we saw deer, clouded yellow butterflies and enjoyed an incredibly peaceful stay in the Smokey Hole field. Hot showers, composting toilets and running water close by and because the ground was very dry we were able to drive right up to the camping spot to unload. I highly recommend Goren Farm if you want to relax and get away from the world.

What space and what friendly people! The campsite is extremely basic, with a compost toilet, small fridge, shower, washing-up area, and the possibility to charge your phone. There is a swing for children. This was more than enough for us to enjoy a wonderfully relaxing holiday.

We love it at Goren Farm! It was our second time and it was as lovely as it was before. We stayed in Bluebell this time, which had the most beautiful views. The land is gorgeous, and has everything you need including communal warm showers, compost loos, phone charging point and a fridge if needed. It feels so private, which we love. Will definitely come back! And definitely recommend to others.

Weekend Trip to Lickham Bottom Camp

We had such a peaceful weekend at Lickham Bottom. We usually camp with our own kit but I needed some comfort while heavily pregnant. This was exactly what we hoped for! A comfy bed, our own toilet and outdoor shower with lovely hot water, all in a beautiful setting. The weather was hot so we appreciated the shade of the oaks but I think we’d still have had a lovely time in the rain under the kitchen shelter, looking out over the meadow. So many thoughtful details like comfy camp chairs, hot water bottles, a cute shed with games and books and access to a small fridge. Thanks Penny for setting everything up so well that we could have a properly relaxing time!
