5 nights at Tomkins Farm

We loved staying at Tomkin's Farm! We were there for 5 nights and, despite some stormy weather, it was brilliant. Philip's site has the perfect location; we love all the llamas, sheep, the camels and the wildlife. We also really enjoyed the breakfasts, burgers and pizzas cooked on the campsite! Best egg in a bap ever :)

2 nights at Chalky Downs

We had a really nice stay (despite the weather!) at Chalky Downs. The campsite has everything you need and all the facilities were always very clean even though it was a busy bank holiday. Sharen, the host, is lovely, so friendly and welcoming! We will be back I’m sure :)

Idyllic site, perfect for families. We particularly enjoyed the fire pit and lookout. The rules around camp mean everyone had a goodnight's sleep (silent 10pm-9am), and it was ideally located for us to visit Canterbury.

Been here for the second time this year and probably the best camp for my children, they learnt to ride a bike, play football, play hide and seek and many other games. Campers were always polite and staff too. I'll definitely come back this summer .

We really enjoyed our stay here. Facilities were great apart from the toaster in the outdoor kitchen which tripped the electric but Samantha sorted it straight away following a message to her. Was lovely walking around the lake and we enjoyed some delicious cakes at the farm cafe. My son had fun at the kids playground. Everyone was polite and friendly.

The campsite was fab! We were greated by two of the farm dogs that came with a ball in their mouth and the kids (3, 8 and 11 year olds) loved playing with them. They loved exploring the surroundings, discovering the goats, sheep, pigs and alpacas, it was great to have the woods for a walk too! they also loved the pile of hay bales to climb on! The facilities were great, showers were good and had good pressure, although there will be a queue if you camp on a bank holiday! Toilets were good and clean too and the little kitchen was a bonus! We had our own kitchen but it was great to be able to boil some water to add to the dishes before washing up and if ours had failed like it did once in the past we would still had been able to cook. I liked that there was rubish and recycling disposal too. All in all we had a great time and will definitely consider going back and recommend it to friends and family (only reason I wouldn't is because I want to explore so many other places and I might not have time to go back! haha) Thank you x

We loved the site, and my son adored playing with the resident sheep dogs (who were impeccably behaved) the showers were lovely although more sinks would be useful to prevent queues for the loos with showers and basins when the camp site is busy. Free tea and coffee was a great touch and plenty of space! My son was enthralled by the owners motorbikes and they very kindly let him sit on them. They made his weekend! The only down side was the free roaming dog of another camper who wasn't paying attention to where their dog was and he stole food from the kids and wasn't being cleaned up after. I realise this is not the site owners fault but did impact on our enjoyment as we couldn't work out who the dog's owner was to speak to them.

Gorgeous little camp site, perfect for families, very peaceful and the river was fab for paddle boarding and swimming. Very clean and staff were super friendly and helpful, pitches are very generous making it feel spacious and private, would definitely recommend this little gem.

We stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend with our 3 children and 2 labradors. We used our inflatable kayak on the river as many families did, I would just highlight that the river to the left of the campsite can get a little fast in the wind and can be difficult to navigate back to site. We walked into March and had lunch at The Acre which was good. Walk to March took about 45 mins, slow walking, however, to walk by the river all the way you need to cross over a bridge on a fast road- there is a footpath though. The site itself is well kept and the wardens are lovely. Gutted we didn't arrive on the Friday for Pizza night! The pitches are very spacious and there is plenty of room for the kids to play games and stretch their legs. People have a good time, however, remain respectful of the other campers.

Lovely spot, with not many people around and not many kids as this is pure camping, not many attractions here. Perfect for people which are enjoying camping and bonfires. Great showers and not bad toilets. That’s all you need. I’ll be back!

Lovely peaceful site, with woodland all around. Decent hot showers, clean toilets, lots of hot water for washing up. Yes it’s rustic, not unclean, so there might be the odd creepy crawley but that’s camping 😂 we’d stay again.

Pets: If you bring pets, ensure they are well-behaved, kept on a leash or have impeccable recall, and cleaned up after. Do not allow your pet to enter another camper's space. Quiet time: Maintain quiet hours between 11pm and 7am. All music must stop by 10pm, and noise should be minimal after 11pm. Campfires: Penn Meadow Farm allows fires; please use existing scorched areas if possible rather than creating new ones. Never leave any fires unattended and ensure they are completely extinguished when finished. Wipe your feet prior to entering the Bell tents to remove any coal that may have become attached. Cars/vehicles: Cars and vehicles can be on the field but should move minimally and always under 5mph. Car stereos should not be used for music entertainment. Drugs and Alcohol: Drug use is prohibited, and violators will be asked to leave. Consume alcohol responsibly, and do not drive or move your vehicle after consuming alcohol. We do not typically book Large non-family groups unless they are seeking a calm and peaceful stay. These groups must have authorization prior to the visit.
