What a little Derbyshire gem: back to basics Whitehouse Farm Campsite is a simple site in a most scenic setting five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tideswell.
The site’s central location in the Peak District National Park means it’s a top spot for those who want to ramble or ride bikes – several circular trails leave from Tideswell and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is a five-minute drive away. And there’s plenty more activity if you require it too, as activity centres nearby can sort you out days of horse riding, abseiling, climbing and caving.
All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away.
And if even that’s too much, you’d be welcome to spend some time loafing about on site: there’s heaps of space here, and as facilities have been kept quite minimal (just showers and toilets) there should be a good serving of peace and quiet to go with it all.
Guests are welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire for cookouts and keeping warm; Tideswell’s the place for supermarket supplies, and it’s also handily got a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs for days when your firelighting skills aren't up to much.

Relaxing 4 day visit, weather was quite challenging , but part of the trip was to test out tent performance, which all went well. A large group of Duke of Edinburgh ( two groups) were in attendance for one night, but all behaved impeccably, and moved on early next morning. As usual the helpful family that run the camp were on hand, toilets and showers cleaned daily, had a relaxing time.

Nice quiet site with some lovely cows in the field next door. We were the only ones there and there are lots of nice walking routes in the heart of the Peak District. 10 mins from Bakewell and 20 mins from Castleton.

I recently visited Lakeland boats sales looking for my new narrowboat home and was pleasantly surprised to see the campsite across the road, as I’d traveled 3 hrs I thought I’d stay the night and I’m so pleased I did. Canal running through the site, lovely field, couple of portable toilets, yes it’s basic but that’s what I like. Big thank you to Patrick and hipcamp 👍

Had a lovely relaxing time at Wudu woods! The hosts are very welcoming, and having the opportunity to feed the animals and muck out was great! My 6 year old in particular didn’t want to leave and had to promise to bring her back.

It was a really lovely and chilled spot. The owners were very friendly. The 8 year old in our party loved the cows being let out for their runs and the nearby sheep field to watch the sheep with their lambs. The toilets were clean and supplied with the basics. Easy to find and easy access to walking trails - not that we did much :)

Very basic but tidy and friendly campsite. Fires allowed and they come and offer wood and marshmallows for you to buy. Very clean and well looked after toilet and shower block. Close to pub. But pub is cash only, so be prepared!!

Lovely basic campsite. Everything you need, water, firewood, great views and walks from there. Swings and room for kids to play.
Refreshing to find a campsite that hasn't been glamped and made so expensive that it's unaffordable.
Feels like a lovely hidden part of Derbyshire but very close to popular Millers Dale.
I would definitely visit again.

Lovely quiet off grid field next to canal and short walk to village and National Trust. Fab farm shop over the road. Owners so lovely and helpful. Sat with fire pit watching the stars. We will be back.

We had a fantastic stay at Chrome Hill Campers. Super location for a walk over Chrome Hill. Enjoyed a ploughman’s lunch at the Chapel Tearoom in Hollingsclough.
Shower was lovely and hot and enjoyed talking to other campers. Great facilities. View and sunset to die for. We will be back!

Stayed for 2 nights, great site with really good amenities, loads of things to do nearby, if your into canal walks etc. it was the owners wife’s birthday on my last night, had an absolutely amazing time at the clubhouse, everyone who works there are really friendly and welcoming. Would gladly stay again, but stay away from the tequila rose next time!!.

We loved staying here…stunning sunset and lovely views the following morning. Plenty of space to pick out where you want to be. There are picnic benches available around the field, and fire pits available to use if you don’t have one. Access to fresh water and a toilet. Really lovely idyllic setting and we definitely return.
