Beautiful place amazing and friendly staff this was our first time taking the children camping and they had a wonderful time here the fields go on and on for and for us that loves to go walking this place was amazing there is some old ruins kids loved looking at the stream and all the farm animals that was there it was just a perfect all round can’t wait to come back! Nice little campsite, not many pitches which makes it more cosy and less noisey! Facilities are clean and decent with great views in every direction. It’s in the middle of nowhere so you may need a car to go off exploring! We took the kids to Havenrigg beach which was about 10mins away, lovely little place! Noise policy was good, 11pm cut off which suited us with little ones.

I had a very nice stay at Tom and Andri's. They both said hello to me at different points and made me feel very welcomed. Andri told me a great place to walk my dog and Tom showed me some of the new facilities the place is getting. Lovely quiet stay.

3 nights at Baystone Bank Farm Campsite

Lovely campsite, beautiful spot, view of mountais and walks straight off the site. Very quiet and calm (this was April) We never met the owners and nobody at the reception caravan when we arrived although we werecwithing the arrival time, so we just got on with it. A few bits in the shop and some food served but no real coffee would be the only downfall. I hoped to cafe might have some! Showers worked and lots of hot water to wash up with. If we didn't live so far away, I would definitely visit again. Also, amazing for riding at the center, if that is your thing, everyone wes very friendly.

Weekend Trip to Deerstone Glamping

Me and my boyfriend spent two beautiful nights here in the domes. Katrin is simply wonderful super helpful and just a phone call away if you need anything. The dome was just perfect, beautifully clean and came with everything you could need to make the weekend perfect. The cinema dome was fantastic we used it two nights. The showers and toilets were so clean and had shampoo conditioner shower gel toothpaste and deodorant. The heater in the shower was perfect for the cold mornings. The hot tub was fantastic super clean and got really hot, we struggled the second night to get the fire going for the hot tub but with just a text message to katrin she was there sorting it for us with her beautiful little dog woody who came to say hello. There were two heaters inside the dome to keep you warm, also in the chest at the bottom of the bed there were cups, cutlery, mini table, fire starter, pans, bbq utensils, and much more to make your stay homely. The breathtaking views from the domes are just magnificent. 100% will be returning to the site with the kids and the dog. We can’t wait to come back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing stay, peaceful with beautiful views of the mountains and some wildlife. Stream is clear running and the land is well kept. The toilets and showers are clean and well kept also . Will definitely be returning! Loved it.

2 nights at The Old Vicarage

We loved the log cabin. Took the dogs for a couple of days, the place is lovely. The weather wasn't the best, so after a couple of wet an rainy walks (which the dogs LOVED) we just hunkered down in there. Played games, drank wine, listened to music. Its perfect to hide away for a couple of nights.

There are hard standing pitches with electric hook-up as well as grass pitches with and without electric hook-up. There is also a field bordering a river which is used for wild camping - but you'll have to share it with the sheep! Coed Obry is a 5.5 acre private woodland on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. It has its own private gated access from the road and a 50m track leads from the A 4085 to a small car park for 5 vehicles. Paths lead from there to the caravan, bunkhouse, camping areas. There is a compost toilet block and sink (cold water tap) in the centre of the wood shared by all visitors. The notice board in the car park provides visitors with maps, photos and information about the wood, and there are laminated maps showing the routes of around 30 local walks which visitors are welcome to borrow during their stay. Canoe, kayaks and paddle boards are available to hire in Coed Obry and there are several fire pits with seasoned firewood for sale. There is no mains water so visitors are requested to bring their own drinking water, but rain water harvesting systems provide water for washing. Nearby there are several outstanding beaches within 1-3 miles and there is good access to the mountains of Snowdonia; the Afon Dwyryd provides an excellent sheltered river/estuary for canoeing and paddle boarding; the slate quarries and tourist attractions of Blaenau Ffestiniog, rock climbing at Tremadog (2 miles); spectacular waterfalls at Croesor (1 mile); the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Railway (0.5 miles); the Glaslyn Osprey Centre (1 mile); several shops, restaurants, hostelries and Spar shop in Penrhyndeudraeth (1 mile); three large supermarkets and a regional shopping centre in Porthmadog (2.5 miles).

We are a small basic 7 acre campsite in the Shropshire hills between the long mynd and the stipperstones great for wild camping. So offers great walks and mountain biking. Carding Mill Valley is just a short drive which is great place for exploring and playing in the streams or wild swimming in the reservoir. It is a simple site with toilets showers and we have a canteen with a kettle, fridge, microwave, tables and chairs, sink area and power. The campsite is on the side of a hill but there are pleanty of flat areas to pitch up. The campsite has lovely views of the surrounding area. We do allow fire's and can supply fire pits and wood. We have an undercover area which can be used as cover from rain, this area also has a pool table. We allow tents, caravans, motor homes, although dont have electric hookups. We can allow group bookings. We use the site for a festival once a year and the stage is a permanent structure as is the bar and medic cabins, these will not affect your stay in anyway just making you aware they are there.

Overview

Among the largest cities in England, Manchester is known among history-lovers as the first industrialised city on earth. While it was formed nearly 2,000 years ago as a Roman settlement, it was the Industrial Revolution that led to its massive growth. Today, the city draws in fans of architecture, art, music, and football, and the city has two Premier League clubs: Manchester City and Manchester United. While you won't find much in the way of camping in and around Greater Manchester, you need only head further afield to more rural parts of Lancashire to find farms offering camping and shepherd huts.

Where to go

Peak District National Park

A mere 30-minute drive east of Manchester will take you to Peak District National Park, a 555-square-acre park that's popular for walkers, cyclists, and water sports enthusiasts. It's among the most popular national parks in the country and a fantastic spot for wildlife watching, with populations of hares, hedgehogs, and all sorts of birds. The park also has four show caves open to public visits and a museum dedicated to the Black Plague.

Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)

Due north of Manchester, the Forest of Bowland AONB feels much more remote. Here you'll find massive expanses of fells and peat moorland, short hills, and lots of outdoor recreation opportunities. Popular things to do in the area include walking, cycling, and wildlife-watching, and the lack of city lights makes it ideal for a night of stargazing.

Loggerheads Country Park

Just over the border with Wales, inside the Clwydian Range And Dee Valley AONB, Loggerheads Country Park offers a visitors centre, a historic mill, and a few miles worth of short trails that lead alongside the River Alyn, past wooded groves and limestone cliffs. Keep your eyes out for Bloody Cranesbill, a type of wildflower named as such because its leaves turn red in the autumn, much like a tree.

When to go

Manchester is very much a summer destination, and the likelihood of good weather is at its highest between June and August, with highs in the low 20s, though you should still be prepared for rain no matter when you visit. The summer months also offer plenty of things to do, and music fans from across the UK flock here in June for the celebrated Parklife Festival in Heaton Park.
