If you like the sound of having farm shops and ice cream farms nearby, as well as access to lots of walking and cycling trails, Stretton House Campsite should be a fine pick for you. It has a strict no noise policy after 10pm, meaning that you should get a peaceful night's sleep too. This site is in the grounds of the 400-year-old Stretton House surrounded by the Cheshire countryside with handy transport links nearby and outdoor activities in no short supply… that includes things like alpaca walking, golf or Manley Mere’s watersports haven (a 20-minute drive away for the latter). You’ll have your pick of two fields, both with car parking by the pitch free of charge and dogs allowed. The facilities include separate male and female toilet blocks, pay per use shower block, mobile phone charging facilities, free wifi and chemical toilet disposal and a drinking water standpipe. You’ll have permission to start up a barbecue or firepit too (subject to the correct safety measures). When you’re ready to get going, the friendly owners will be willing to help out however they can and suggest possible days out, which may include fishing or walking at Pickmere Lake (10 minutes’ drive), visiting an ice cream farm (within 10 minutes’ drive of the site) or going to the local golf course (five minutes’ drive). For food, there’s a farm shop just two minutes’ walk away from the site where you’ll be able to get your hands on local produce. Pubs aren’t far away either – there is one pub five minutes' walk away, and another 15 minutes' walk away. Festival goers are very welcome, and the Creamfields Festival site is five minutes’ drive away. Please respect the quiet hours (no noise is permitted after 10pm) and environment, as the owners' home is on the grounds (and stick to the field's facilities only). No waste accepted onsite. All rubbish must be taken home at the end of your stay.

Or if you want to use a car to help get up higher the Clwydian and Berwyn Mountains and Eryri (Snowdon) National Park are all within a half an hour drive. If history and mooching is your thing we are just 5 miles from Ruthin - one of the oldest existing Tudor towns - boasting an historic gaol, a craft centre with regular exhibitions and a castle with a spa and peacocks. Denbigh with its stunning castle, Corwen, Llangollen, Llyn Tegid (Bala) and the North Wales Coast are easy to reach by car. There are also options for days out using public transport including taking a steam train. Please ask - they aren't all known to Google! The nearby village has a community run pub and shop with the Glan Llyn tafan offering food by local gastro company Sorbus. In fact there are loads of great little villages near by each with their own character and points of interest including great cafes, walks, Punjabi pub food, historic churches and sacred wells.

Relaxing 4 day visit, weather was quite challenging , but part of the trip was to test out tent performance, which all went well. A large group of Duke of Edinburgh ( two groups) were in attendance for one night, but all behaved impeccably, and moved on early next morning. As usual the helpful family that run the camp were on hand, toilets and showers cleaned daily, had a relaxing time.

We had a fantastic stay at Chrome Hill Campers. Super location for a walk over Chrome Hill. Enjoyed a ploughman’s lunch at the Chapel Tearoom in Hollingsclough. I’d really recommend this site! The location & views are beautiful with the Roaches, Luds Church & Tittesworth Reservoir being close walks. The facilities are great with super pressure showers and regularly cleaned toilets! The team coming round with available fire pits is a lovely touch and the food van (Fridays & weekends) do a great breakfast sandwich! The site is really well maintained too, any holes/tyre indents on the ground left in the morning were filled by the team which was noticed & appreciated😊 Only advice would be to boil some water to take washing up as it’s only cold water available but not a review-reflecting issue 😊 we’ll definitely be back!

We had a lovely time in the camper van at The Hollies. The location is perfect, beautiful views, close to The Roaches (which is where we were heading for a sunset walk). Easy to find, easy access. You just drive on, and decide where to park up. There are 2 small toilet blocks - no queuing, well stocked. Pay as you go hot showers. (Pound coins required) We were unable to take advantage of the fire pit hire (£32 cash needed for the pit hire, and wood, etc, £20 of which is returned back to you upon collection of the pit) as we were quite late returning back to site. The other campers looked to be enjoying them though. I'm not sure if the pizza van was open for our stay, it was closed when we got back to site just before 21.00. Otherwise that would have been a perfect end to a perfect day. We would definitely return to The Hollies. :-)

Well appointed very dog friendly shepherd's hut, and we even survived Storm Dave in it! Hut is set in its own dog-secure orchard adjacent to the chicken run and a barn. Lovely views and sunrises over Clwydian hills. Good shower and cooking facilities. Very comfy bed. Portable heater and log burner. Eggs from the chickens next door are excellent. 10 min drive to town, great value huge dog zoomie field a minute away, plus lots of forest walks in the area. One of the best huts we've stayed in, and expect to return to!

This was an excellent camping location with so much to offer! We really enjoyed the beauty of the farm and the surrounding land. At night you can see all the stars you want! Treflach farm offers a number of amenities, with a stocked kitchen (utensils/single stovetop/fridge and freezer/etc.) and lovely bathrooms that you can shower in as well! Definitely check out the 24/7 farm shop after your stay for some delicious, local bites : )

Would recommend 👍 Great place. Hot showers. Clean toilets. Hosts courteous and lovely. 7k round trip to the top of one of the Roches. 10min walk to the reservoir. Allows firepits and dogs. Pub only 5 mins away. Shops nearby. Only thing I would dock half a star for is only cold water for washing up and £1 for 5 mins of showers but the shower was so lovely and hot I'd rather pay a quid for it, just think 10mins for a quid would be better and I'll bring washing up gloves next time cos my hands were freezing! All in all a wonderful trip and highly recommended for camping with mates.
