With a private valley, formed in the last ice age, acres of land and woodland to explore, our farm has a very special feeling which has been mentioned by every visitor. Occupied by some beautiful wildlife, including buzzards and owls, deer, badgers and foxes. The Wagons have a grass roof, firepits, sleep 4 (in double bunk format), they are hand-made from reclaimed materials salvaged from the local town and other areas, double skinned and insulated with sheeps wool. They have a 2-ring gas-burner in the cute kitchen area, dining table and seating, and are the perfect home away from home. All the decor is vintage, including cuttlery, crockery and even the childrens teddy's. Being on the doorstep of Dalby Forest, there are hours of entertainment to be had. You can follow the stream at the bottom of the valley to the River Derwent or venture into the surounding woods. We can provide a guest pass (free access) for Dalby Forest. The Wagons are not powered by electricity and are romantically lit by candles and oil lamps. Heated by cast iron gas heaters.

Outdoors, relax in the wood fired hot tub or sit around the fire pit sipping wine or enjoying mugs of hot chocolate whilst enjoying the wonderful views of the Teesdale countryside. we are a stone throw away from the railway walk that can take you to the neighbouring villages of Romaldkirk, or Middleton- in-Teesdale, or hop in the car and take a short drive to the picturesque market town of Barnard Castle. Guest access Cars can be parked approx 100 metres from the hut, access is from the B6277 along a private grass lane, waterproof footwear is recommended for pedestrian access during wet weather.

Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

North York Moors National Park

The aptly named North York Moors National Park showcases Yorkshire’s famous moors. When you need a break from the action, dive into history by exploring ice age tools, iron age forts and bunkers, and construction from the Cold War. When to go

York’s warmest season is from June to September, which makes it the most popular time for camping and outdoor activity. July and August are typically the hottest months with highs around 22°C, while April and September tend to be the driest months. December and January average lows of 1°C and may see snow. It’s advisable to pack rain gear and a few layers to accommodate the region’s variable climate year-round.
