Far and Away is 1.2 miles away from Headcorn village where you can find a host of local amenities, shops, pubs and restaurants. There is also a host of National Trust sites within a short drive including Sissinghurst Castle and many wonderful villages to visit including medieval Biddenden and the magical market town of Tenterden. Next to junction 8 of the M20 there is also Leeds Castle, only a 20 minute drive from Far and Away and the Big Cat Sanctuary is only a few fields away. At night you can hear the roar of the wild cats really making it feel like you are Far and Away!

Nestled beside the village of Painters Forstal, Faversham, Kent. Our two acre orchard site with grass pitches. The campsite lies within seventeen acres on the slope of The Kent Downs, a designated area of natural beauty. The Alma ale house at the edge of the farm serves Shepherds Neame and hot meals all year round. Two acre quiet cherry orchard site based around a Tudor Manor house 1547 that gives its name to our village. Surrounded by orchards and open countryside but within easy reach of Faversham, Whitstable and Canterbury. Pitches for tents, campervans, motorhomes and touring caravans with or without electric hook up on a level grassy site. Pets are welcome and a crew member is always around the reception or farm to help out. The Campsite is open from 1st march until 31st October. The local area is awash with things to do. Faversham once the busiest port in 17th century England for its wool trade has the longest complete medieval street in the country. A wealth of little shops, cafes and pubs as well as the country’s oldest family owned brewery Shepherd Neame. Whitstable sitting just along the coast, famed for its Oysters and Sunsets is a fun beachside community bustling in the summer months and hauntingly bleak in the winter ones. The World Heritage sites of Canterbury are just a fifteen minute trip away with all its well documented history and plentiful shops and eateries.

We are a small, friendly, family-run campsite set in the High Weald area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a perfect base from which to explore the beaches, castles, ancient woodlands and towns like Rye, Battle and Hastings. Dogwood is in the pretty village of Brede, and is walking distance from two fine country pubs. We are surrounded by stunning countryside where you can take your dog for a short stroll across the fields or go for a long romp through the woods and valleys. Or just sit and relax, listen to the birds and soak up the peace and quiet. We are fortunate to be in a 'dark sky' area, perfect for long, relaxing summer nights around the campfie, sipping hot chocolate, toasting marshmallows and spotting shooting stars! During the summer our site is a popular spot for families and campers visiting nearby Camber Sands sandy beach and year round we welcome all different types of campervan, motorhome and caravan. We look forward to welcome you to our little slice of paradise. Please note our strict 'no group' policy - we only accept single families, single couple and single campers. No more than 2 adults in any group, even on separate pitches. Please bring your acoustic guitar or similar but, as this is a quiet site, please no radios, stereos or videos unless you're using headphones. The birdsong here is incredible by the way! Very wet weather and winter – please note in the off-season, and if very wet, the camping field is closed to vehicles, replaced instead by semi-hardstanding areas or our summer car-park area. Facilities are open but please be prepared for the vagaries of the weather, leaves, puddles and mud. To change pitch please let us know asap so that we can try if possible to find you another. Apart from the car-park, pitches can get very muddy in prolonged, heavy rain. If you are not prepared for these eventualities please do not book.

Hill Top Farm Wild Camping has just a few tiny pitches but the folk here keep the grass trimmed for easy pitching and you can park right next to the pitch. It's a tiny Wild Camping site with no running water, toilets or showers. What Noakes Meadow does have is plenty of space for you to enjoy and camp fires are definitely allowed. A wheelbarrow of fire wood can be purchased for £10 Cash/Paypal/Bank Transfer on arrival. This site is far away from the madding crowds though close to the M20 and A20 for easy access. A mere 10-minute stroll along the road is a fab 16th-century country inn for food and pints. On the other hand you could always fire up a barbie and sizzle some sausages or grab a take away from the chippie 7 minutes away in the nearby village of Lenham. This wild camping site operates a leave no trace policy so be prepared to bag up and take everything with you when you leave.

Weekend Trip to Far and Away Camping

I spent a peaceful weekend here relaxing with my dog and a campfire. The directions are clear and there is plenty of space. It has the basics and does them well, an eco composting toilet and hot shower both well-maintained and clean. There is an airfield nearby and an occassional biplane, spitfire and air balloon went overhead. Something upset the Big Cats in the nearby sanctuary one night and there was lots of roaring , a cut above the usual wildlife noises 😆.

Had a very enjoyable quiet night's stay. Was mid-week off season, so the site was very quiet. Had a friendly welcome from Phil, the facilities were great and we enjoyed the pony and goats wandering around the field. Had a starry evening and heard an owl in the night. Woke up to a greater spotted woodpecker in an adjacent tree. The state gave us exactly what we were looking for from our stay

Good spot an hours walk from Canterbury and ~2 hours from Whitstable just off the Crab and Winkle Way. Campsite was well maintained and toilets were nice. Even had some young chickens!

Great site. Amazing woods to walk in and find the rope swings. Showers and toilet at the entrance are ok. Proper toilets in the wild camping field are ok once you get over the size of the spiders. Trolleys provided to get luggage from car to camp site, can be a long walk but worth it. When it’s quiet at night you can hear the pylon nearby. Loved sitting out by the fire pit.

Weekend Trip to The Nut Plat Retreat

Wonderful stay at this rustic retreat! The hot tub was easy to use, super comfortable bed, and (very) nearby pub was delicious - even a free community curry night one evening. We were also able to charge our phones at the pub and send a quick text since the site didn't have sockets/cell service (not a bad thing just something to note)! Unlimited wood and quick responses from Duncan made this an extremely smooth-sailing glamping retreat! Extremely private-feeling as well. Will definitely return for another needed city escape :)

Beautiful treehouse on a stunning land, surrounded by oak trees and hazel trees. It has everything one needs. I loved my stay at the Tree House! Lots of trails nearby to hike! Mark is such a wonderful, kind and generous host. From freshly baked bread in the morning to making sure I didn’t need anything, his hospitality is second to none! Highly recommended! We enjoyed our stay at Oak Valley Campsite, we had everything we needed. The (sloped!) area to pitch was beautiful and spacious. The shared toilets and shower were clean and functional and we had access to a shared fridge. The car park is right next to the field, and there were drinking water taps available. We would definitely stay again, thank you.

It was a small site in a good, quiet location with views across the field on one side. The rest is sheltered by trees. Alexandra was very nice and helpful and responsive to questions. She also kindly let us to stay longer on our last day. There was a good selection of glamping options. A cute play area for kids and some chickens!

Where to go

North Sea Coast

Kent’s 10 Blue Flag beaches all lie along the north shore. The south-eastern resorts of Margate, Ramsgate, and Broadstairs draw beachgoers and surfers throughout the summer months, but if you can brave the cold, you’ll catch the biggest swells in winter. Further west, the pebble beaches and colorful beach huts paint a pretty picture at Herne Bay and Whitstable, while the Isle of Sheppey has a wide choice of beachside camping and caravan parks.

South Coast

South of Ramsgate, white chalk cliffs, rocky coves, and shingle beaches stretch along the shores of the English Channel. The headline act is the White Cliffs of Dover, home to one of England’s most rewarding coastal hikes. Further south, Folkestone is a favorite for summer campers and caravanners, while the Romney marshes are popular with walkers and bird-watchers.

East Kent
