Take camping to the next level with our off-grid and eco-friendly Tree tent Experience Camp (TEC). Within 40 acres of Cornish ancient woodland, TEC offers a unique escape: three Safari tree tents, each accommodating up to three people, are suspended discreetly between trees and provide intimate yet communal spaces, letting you enjoy nature’s symphony as you sleep amidst the treetops.
Elevate your camping experience with TEC, where each night is an opportunity to sleep between the trees and create memories that swing far beyond the ordinary.
In addition to the tree tents, our TEC ensures your wilderness adventure doesn’t compromise on comfort. We provide a communal area weather-proofed using a large parachute under which we provide a Quirky wood burner made from repurposed wheel hubs to keep you toasty and seating crafted from locally sourced Oak timber. There is also a simple BBQ grill. Further shelter is provided by our large tarp-covered A-frame, furnished with a bench and further seating lovingly built by your hosts, offering perfect spots to share stories and revel in the magic of the forest.
Essential amenities include a sustainable composting toilet with rain-fed handwashing facilities, including eco-friendly handwash, a supply of drinking water, first aid kit, firelighters, heat glove and fire extinguisher, BBQ implements and a store of seasoned firewood.
Rather than renting out the three tree tents separately as pitches, we only allow for exclusive bookings. Thus, it will only be you and your friends, family or colleagues who will be having a tree tent experience. You will have exclusive-use of the fire area underneath the parachute, the A-frame shelter and the composting toilet.
You can also explore the 40-acres of the ancient Cornish woodland that is Caradon Wood, some of which is rare Atlantic or Temperate rainforest. A 15-minute walk down the slope brings you to the River Lyhner and there are nice little wild swimming spots on the bends of this river with its source close-by on Bodmin Moor.
Once you book you will be sent directions to Caradon Wood along with a full kit list: what we provide and what you need to bring along. You will be met at our Base Camp parking area by one of your hosts, either Phil or Aydin. They will show you to your tree tent/s and provide you with an overview of the facilities and the woods.
The cost per tree tent is £75/night for up to three people. Additional adults are £25/night
Check in from 14:00- check out is 12:00
Dogs- FREE but not in the tent please (Please pick up after your four-legged companion)

This was a beautiful place to camp! Felt very tucked away and in our own little oasis. Wild swimming was the best way to cool down and our fire pit was the best way to warm up! Hot shower was lovely and clean. Jonathan was super kind and responsive to messages.

Weekend Trip to Forest Edge Camping & Glamping
If you're looking to relax and soak up nature this is a beautiful spot on the edge of the forest. We stayed in a Bell Tent with lovely extras with some nice fruit tea bags and sugar stir sticks. Everything looked brand new.
Very clean showers and toilet blocks - modern and fresh.
Nothing was too much trouble - don't normally camp but I would have been happy for a week with a good book but sadly could only stay one night :-(

Relaxed campsite in beautiful surroundings. There were quite a few campers staying at the same time as us but the single composting loo & the basic but hot ‘shower in a horse box’ never seemed busy. I think because a number of people were in vans with their own facilities possibly?? This is back to basics camping at its best. Jonathan the owner always on hand via WhatsApp should you need assistance with anything. Thank you Jonathan & volunteers.

Just a great campsite, especially if you're into music and like to have free space to pitch. The Orchard is amazing but you do need to like life around you and I don't mean the wildlife type. Great for big groups. The Barn / club has amazing lighting (lasers) and sound system & a sand dance area + a heated swimming pool with fire pits. The restaurant does fantastic pizza / food with Tuscany vibe, lovely helpful staff and decent showers / toilets.

We had such an incredible time at Westland farm. The Shepard’s hut was perfect for a stay with two small children. It felt very private, and the gated garden area was perfect for our dog and children.
The views and sunsets were totally stunning, especially with the reservoir in the distance.
We loved the hot tub, a real treat. And our son loved seeing all the farm animals. Couldn’t recommend more!

We camped in tents on Poppy Patch for 4 nights over half term. With our friends we got lucky and had the whole field to ourselves. I’d rate it in my top 3 camping experiences of all time. No frills, but decent showers and clean toilets. I think hot water at the washing up sinks would be a welcome upgrade. The whole bring your own loo roll thing I kind of understand but you may as well provide it, it’s the norm at campsites now. We hope to return!

Great location to get into Bodmin, really lovely views! Each pitch had a lot of space, even with it being busy it didn’t feel like we were right next to other campers. Facilities at the site are so great! Really clean toilets and showers, a nice size ‘kitchen area’. I recommend the Camp De Lank!! :)

When to go
Forest walks are available year-round in Haldon Forest. Escape the heat along the shaded trails in summer or come in autumn to admire the colourful fall foliage. July and August is peak season, when advance booking is essential for park activities. To avoid the crowds, choose a weekday visit outside of the school holidays. The treetop adventure park is open all year, but opening hours are limited through winter, so check ahead.
Know before you go
- Haldon Forest is a 15-minute drive from Exeter along the A38.
- Paid parking is available at the park, and buses run from Exeter centre to Exeter Racecourse, a 1-mile walk from the park.
- There are restrooms and a café in the park.
- Many of the park’s trails are accessible, and Tramper and mobility scooters are available to hire.
