We had the most wonderful stay at this gorgeous shepherds hut. Everything about our visit was just perfect. The setting was so peaceful and private and dreamy, such a beautiful little escape to relax and switch off. The hut itself was cosy, spotless, and had everything we could possibly need, you can really tell how much care and thought has gone into it. The hosts were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, which made the whole experience feel even more special. Honestly, there is nothing we would change. We left feeling so happy and refreshed and would absolutely love to come back again. Could not recommend it more 💖

Weekend Trip to The Peacock Shepherds Hut

Absolutely delightful place!! We arrived in the pitch black but found it very easily. The hut was beautifully furnished, when we woke this complemented the absolutely breathtaking views on what was a very cold winter morning but the hut was very warm and cosy. I will 100% recommend this stay and will most likely be returning for a longer stay to take in some more of the Welsh countryside.

The hut was lovely and had everything that we need for weekend getaway. The land was so peaceful and there were alpacas nearby. We arrived late a night and took the wrong turn at first but once we got on the right path it was easy to find. Would recommend if you're looking for quiet time off.

Lovely little weekend stay in this beautiful hut kitted with everything you would need. So peaceful, we loved waking up to the farm views and having a warm coffee in the cosy bed with the fire on ❤️☺️ There's lots of warm pubs with great food an easy walk away, a shop just 4 mins drink and loads to do nearby if you'd like to venture further.

The Peacock Shepherds Hut was amazing. The views are incredible and the hut was really comfortable and well thought out from the lovely Peacock details to underfloor heating. This was a fabulous shepherds hut with every need catered for. The craftsmanship is beautiful and all the equipment and amenities were first class. Beautifully decorated and all the local and interesting information was carefully provided in an easy to access folder. The location is absolutely stunning with lots of outdoor equipment such as seating and bbq and a pizza oven to enjoy in the hot weather. The view is stunning and the surrounding countryside has great walks and places of interest. We will hopefully return.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the Shepard’s hut is great and in the perfect & private location. Hosts are very friendly and the animals on sight are a fab addition too! We would definitely stay again for a little getaway. The only things I would point out for anyone who doesn’t know the area- it is around 15 minutes each way to the local towns/shops, but this place is in the perfect location if you want to “switch off” and be surrounded by nature. The hut has all of the essential items, such as shower gel, hand soap, fire wood, tea & coffee and salt & pepper. However, my only suggestion is that I personally think that some local produce such as some fresh milk & eggs would go a long way and would elevate the experience massively. In saying this, everything was perfect with our stay😊

1 night at Abberton Shepherds Hut

Catriona’s shepherds hut is a truly brilliant glamping find! I took my six year old daughter for a two-night stay and we loved it. The hut is so cleverly designed, with everything you need. It was warm and cosy, and the beds were so comfortable. The enclosed garden is great for children, and the visits from beautiful Evie the collie dog were a highlight. We ordered a breakfast hamper too which was excellent. We did a couple of day trips - Eastnor Castle and Warwick Castle. Both very good spots with lots going on for children. My daughter and I loved our adventure - we even had a visit from the tooth fairy while we there! :-) Thank you Catriona for such a lovely stay. We can’t wait to return. Highly recommend!

Peak District National Park

Peak District National Park is just minutes away from the city of Matlock and hosts various trails to explore like Monsal Trail or Tissington Trail. Campers can hike to their heart's content to see stunning vistas around the park. Or, cycle, birdwatch, and explore the charming villages and historic sites like Peveril Castle throughout the area, as well. Then, settle in for the night within the park at a campsite among a grass field, a state-of-the-art camping pod, a pitch with reserved parking for motorhomes, or a wild camping spot.

Dovedale

Dovedale, a scenic limestone valley near Matlock, beckons campers with its natural beauty and tranquil ambiance. Hike along the meandering River Dove, crossing stepping stones and marvelling at limestone ravines and stunning rock formations like Thorpe Cloud and Thor's Cave. Nature lovers can spot diverse wildlife and enjoy views of the countryside, as well. While camping directly in Dovedale is not permitted, nearby private campsites offer tent pitches and caravan hookups for easy access to the valley.

The Heights of Abraham

A trip to Matlock is incomplete without visiting The Heights of Abraham. Right outside Peak District National Park and accessible by a scenic cable car ride or a pleasant hike, this dog-friendly attraction offers fantastic views of Derwent Valley and the surrounding countryside. Explore the show caverns and delve into the underground wonders of the area, learning about its geological history. Afterward, return to the campsite area at the base of Heights of Abraham. Here, campers can find facilities such as tent pitches, caravan hookups, and amenities like clean washrooms and picnic spots.
