What a little Derbyshire gem: back to basics Whitehouse Farm Campsite is a simple site in a most scenic setting five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tideswell.
The site’s central location in the Peak District National Park means it’s a top spot for those who want to ramble or ride bikes – several circular trails leave from Tideswell and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is a five-minute drive away. And there’s plenty more activity if you require it too, as activity centres nearby can sort you out days of horse riding, abseiling, climbing and caving.
All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away.
And if even that’s too much, you’d be welcome to spend some time loafing about on site: there’s heaps of space here, and as facilities have been kept quite minimal (just showers and toilets) there should be a good serving of peace and quiet to go with it all.
Guests are welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire for cookouts and keeping warm; Tideswell’s the place for supermarket supplies, and it’s also handily got a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs for days when your firelighting skills aren't up to much.

We purchased this peaceful secluded 15 acre piece of land, consisting of a 3 acre lake, in early 2015.
Our beautiful Log Cabin (KINGFISHER) was completed in May 2017 and the static homes style lodges, (LAVENDER AND SUNFLOWER) in April 2021.
Kingfisher is a more rustic vibe with log burner and oil filled radiators for heating and Lavender and Sunflower are more modern vibe with gas central heating.
Lavender and Sunflower both have ramp access.
They all have their own personal jetty and veranda to fish from. You can also fish anywhere around the lake as we do not allow day tickets.
Kingfisher has 3 bedrooms, so sleeps 3 singles or 3 couples. The other two have 2 bedrooms, so sleeps just 2 singles or 2 couples.
It is such a peaceful haven. All your troubles just disappear when you arrive. The calming beauty of the lake is inspiring.
We want this to become our very own nature reserve, encouraging nesting of all kinds to mature to full potential. We want you to share on our journey and progress along the way. We don’t look on this as a business, but a ‘home from home’.
It is our secretive safe haven, nestled nicely in-between Boston and Skegness in a peaceful surrounding – there is no traffic apart from the occasional Spitfire or Lancaster flying by! Also, depending on what time of year, the occasional combine harvester or tractor working the surrounding fields.
Please note that our fishing village and cabin site are for adults only, no children or pets are allowed. We may welcome well behaved and experienced fishing people from the age of 15 years upwards. Please ask beforehand.

This was one of the nicest campsites I’ve stayed at. Beautiful views, proper toilets and shower blocks with hot water and enough that there was never a queue despite a full site on Saturday. There were also drinking water taps and sinks to do the washing up at. Plenty of walks nearby.
The only downside was some feral children in a neighbouring tent but that is no fault of the site managers, rather irresponsible parents that didn’t control their kids but unfortunately they seem to get everywhere!
10/10 on the site though. Would 100% stay here again.

At times, feels a little overcrowded, but overall a great value for money.

Great location and loved the amount of privacy you get, as pitches are well separated. It was especially nice to be in the forest and a bit shaded, with the heatwave! Loved playing disc golf, Lee was great and really informative. We got two hole in ones!
Our only downside is that the toilets did get smelly/dirty within just a few hours. Creating a toilet block and having a shower on site might be something to consider in the future.

Back to basics camp. No set plots, just pick a spot you like and set up. Hosts/staff were lovely, the atmosphere and surroundings were great. Nice walks directly from site including to the monsal trail. Clean with nice toilets and washing area with drinking water. Absolutely nothing to complain about.
