Tyne View Camping is a peaceful spot in Tyne and Wear, not far from Hedley on the Hill village. It's on a farm run by David and his family, who welcome guests to enjoy the beautiful countryside views.
You can see the Tyne Valley from the camping pitches, which is great for stargazing at night. The site is basic with just water taps and toilets, no showers, but there's lots of space for kids and dogs to play.
You're allowed to bring a barbecue or firepit for cooking, and you can buy supplies in Prudhoe nearby. Or, you can walk to Hedley on the Hill for a meal at a top-notch pub.
There are plenty of things to do nearby, like walking in the woods, playing golf, or trying gliding. You can also visit Hadrian’s Wall, Newcastle upon Tyne, or explore the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for a varied and enjoyable break.Also this June we will be open for the Sam Fender weekend ie June 12 til the 16th if anyone wants to camp £20 a night plus a taxi for £20

With a private valley, formed in the last ice age, acres of land and woodland to explore, our farm has a very special feeling which has been mentioned by every visitor. Occupied by some beautiful wildlife, including buzzards and owls, deer, badgers and foxes.
The Wagons have a grass roof, firepits, sleep 4 (in double bunk format), they are hand-made from reclaimed materials salvaged from the local town and other areas, double skinned and insulated with sheeps wool. They have a 2-ring gas-burner in the cute kitchen area, dining table and seating, and are the perfect home away from home.
All the decor is vintage, including cuttlery, crockery and even the childrens teddy's.
Being on the doorstep of Dalby Forest, there are hours of entertainment to be had. You can follow the stream at the bottom of the valley to the River Derwent or venture into the surounding woods. We can provide a guest pass (free access) for Dalby Forest.
The Wagons are not powered by electricity and are romantically lit by candles and oil lamps. Heated by cast iron gas heaters.

Secluded field near the head of a picturesque valley with far-reaching views. Perfect for bird watching, within easy reach of quiet forestry tracks which are ideal for cycling and walking. Enjoy after dark stargazing too. A quiet location but only a few miles inland from Scarborough. Four miles to the village of Ayton which has a convenience store, garage, chemist, fish and chip shop and restaurant as well as two popular pubs. The quaint village of Scalby is only a few miles away, and Dolby Forest with a variety of outdoor activities is also nearby.
Well behaved dogs are welcome. There is a fire pit available for those evenings around the camp fire, and barbecues are permitted.

We had the most amazing 3 nights staying at Ted's campsite! The views were incredible, we went to bed and woke up every morning surrounded by fells. We rented a fire pit from Ted which was great and kept us warm into the evening. We walked to a lovely pub Dufton and did some lovely walks right from our tent. Meeting Ted was by far the highlight of our trip. He was so helpful and generous. We hitchhiked from Newcastle so were without a car and Ted offered us a lift around the area many times! He even took us to a chocolate factory - his generosity and kindness was so wonderful and greatly appreciated! If you want a camp that makes you feel like you are wilding camping with amazing views and an even more amazing host then this is the place! Thanks Ted you make our trip :)

Beautiful site, very quiet and private with plenty of room in the non electric field. Very pretty lake which the site has a footpath gate up a slight bank to the waters edge. Be aware to walk to Castle Howard you will have to walk along the road NOT the lake as the pathway is blocked.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Teds campsite last night and have to say it was 10/10. Ted welcomed us at the gate, rented us a fire pit and wood with some matches for next to nothing. Had plenty of recommendations for breakfast and the abundance of pubs in villages surrounding. Lots of nice hiking trails around. We visited high force waterfall in the morning after we’d left after taking home all the farm fresh eggs ted had to offer. The night previous we’d had a lovely meal at one of the pubs in appleby and had a toasty from in the bakery in the morning which we delicious! Such a nice first njght away for me and my boyfriend made extra special by the lovely ted a perfect host in giving you your privacy but also a perfect helping hand !

Staying in Bruce’s Wagon was a wonderful glamping experience, with beautiful views that instantly help you relax and switch off. The hospitality was excellent, with everything thoughtfully prepared and any help offered in a friendly and welcoming way. My girlfriend and I decided to go camping completely last minute in our TentBox, so there weren’t many places left, but honestly, stumbling across Ted’s campsite felt like a win. It’s very back to basics, which was exactly what we wanted. No noise, no crowds, just a quiet spot tucked away from everything. The road nearby is private and barely used, so the only cars we saw were locals or farmers passing through.
The field is surrounded by sheep, chickens, geese and all sorts of wildlife. We even spotted lambs, rabbits and pheasants wandering around like they owned the place. At night, the little stream running along the edge of the field was ridiculously calming.
Ted himself is genuinely lovely :) you can tell he really cares about the people who stay there. He also sells fresh eggs, which we obviously bought, and they were great.
It was so quiet that we actually debated whether we should even bother going for a walk or just sit there and enjoy doing nothing. In the end we walked up Murton Pike (1 hour each way). On the path only was us and the sheep, and the view from the top was completely worth it.
For a last minute choice, we couldn’t believe how perfect it turned out. Proper peaceful, simple, and exactly what we needed.

Superb view from the top field across the Tyne Valley. The facilities are very basic with only portaloos and a stand pipe for running water. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and there is a good pub within walking distance that serves takeaway pizza.
It’s only one step away from wild camping which is just how we like it. It’s is a very scenic site and also a safe place to relax.

Came away for my boyfriend’s birthday and was instantly greeted as we arrived. The pods and Hotubs were spotless throughout and even had nice little incentives within the pod. Requested additional fire wood which came within minutes. We really couldn’t recommend enough!

We loved camping in the woods. The pitch was big enough for two 2 man tents and the firepit and was sheltered from the wind. It was a short pleasant walk to the car park and toilet and the wheelbarrow was a big help in getting gear to the pitch. The toilets were nice and clean and the host gave a very informative and useful induction on arrival.
