With lots of woodland walks on the 'doorstep' the East Devon Way is a 5 minute walk away, 15 minutes walk to the Fire Beacon Nature Reserve and for keen hikers, we're close to the South West Coast Path. For mountain bikers, there are some great routes in the local woodlands and bike routes are also close by with the challenging River Exe Loop and family bike routes along the Otter river less than 15 minutes’ drive away.

Elevate your camping experience with TEC, where each night is an opportunity to sleep between the trees and create memories that swing far beyond the ordinary. In addition to the tree tents, our TEC ensures your wilderness adventure doesn’t compromise on comfort. We provide a communal area weather-proofed using a large parachute under which we provide a Quirky wood burner made from repurposed wheel hubs to keep you toasty and seating crafted from locally sourced Oak timber. There is also a simple BBQ grill. Further shelter is provided by our large tarp-covered A-frame, furnished with a bench and further seating lovingly built by your hosts, offering perfect spots to share stories and revel in the magic of the forest. Essential amenities include a sustainable composting toilet with rain-fed handwashing facilities, including eco-friendly handwash, a supply of drinking water, first aid kit, firelighters, heat glove and fire extinguisher, BBQ implements and a store of seasoned firewood. Rather than renting out the three tree tents separately as pitches, we only allow for exclusive bookings. Thus, it will only be you and your friends, family or colleagues who will be having a tree tent experience. You will have exclusive-use of the fire area underneath the parachute, the A-frame shelter and the composting toilet. You can also explore the 40-acres of the ancient Cornish woodland that is Caradon Wood, some of which is rare Atlantic or Temperate rainforest. A 15-minute walk down the slope brings you to the River Lyhner and there are nice little wild swimming spots on the bends of this river with its source close-by on Bodmin Moor. Once you book you will be sent directions to Caradon Wood along with a full kit list: what we provide and what you need to bring along. You will be met at our Base Camp parking area by one of your hosts, either Phil or Aydin. They will show you to your tree tent/s and provide you with an overview of the facilities and the woods. The cost per tree tent is £75/night for up to three people. It offers 4 acres with facilities, 7 acres of wilderness, shower block, level pitches, picturesque river, children’s playground and has been rated AA 4 star gold pennant. Becky and John both love Cornwall and fell in love with the site as soon as they saw it and it provided the perfect opportunity for a new challenge. Having only recently taken over at Willow Valley in the Summer of 2024, there are always ongoing improvements being made so make sure you keep in touch. Any returning campers will be glad to know we aren’t changing the campsite itself though. Why would we when it is already so perfect!

We stayed at Tragella Place Camping for two nights with two friends and our two dogs, and had a fantastic time. The location is perfect – close to plenty of beautiful beaches and just a short trip into Padstow. Our dogs especially loved exploring the local beaches! Although the weather wasn’t on our side, we still made the most of our stay. The facilities on site were great, with clean showers and bathrooms, plus a bar and food available. The hosts were attentive and welcoming, and gave us some excellent recommendations for things to do in the area. Overall, it was a lovely stay, and we’d definitely recommend Tragella Place Camping – we’ll be returning!

My family and I loved the campsite. We were 10 people: 7 adults and 3 5-year-old children. We chose one of the private sites and brought 4 tents. The site was large and private. We enjoyed 3 nights there and plan to return sometime soon. We cooked over a lovely campfire, which the kids loved. They also went canoeing one morning, completing a fascinating trip.

Amazing quiet spot (except for some noisy sheep!), plenty of space per pitch & lovely sea views. excellent shower and toilet facilities a very short walk away. Picnic bench and fire pit and wood provided. The tent itself was amazing - looked brand new, on a raised deck which kept it dry and clean & chairs to sit and watch the sun rise with a cuppa, comfy warm beds, rugs, blankets, hot water bottles all provided. Cute little “kitchen” hut with a gas hob and kettle and pans and crockery and cool box - everything we needed for a short break was thought of and provided. Great communication with the hosts beforehand as well. Would highly recommend and love to return if we’re in the area again.

We had a wonderful time here, with a beautiful seaside view and the added bonus of catching the sunset in a truly special way. The facilities were excellent – clean toilets, hot showers, and the option to buy a bundle of logs and a fire pit, which made the evenings extra enjoyable. It was also nice to have plenty of space between pitches, giving us a relaxed and comfortable stay. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful, which added to the experience. The only downside was the mobile network coverage – it only worked when we were close to the facilities, but there was no signal at the pitch itself, so it’s good to be prepared for that. Other than that, everything was perfect. Definitely 5 stars from us. Thank you, South Dean Camping, for having us – we’re already looking forward to returning!Dani & Alex

This is a place to feel connected to the land and to completely let go of all the pressures of modern living. Jan is passionate about bio diversity and I loved walking up to the yurt, brushing past lavender and sage and wild flowers full of bees and butterflies, picking an apple on the way - and having it for breakfast whilst looking over a most glorious sunrise view from Buzzard Yurt. Then a walk in the woods and chilling in the hammock reading and soaking up the birdsong and the sound of the buzzard up above. At night - lying on the deck looking up at a starry sky and sitting round the fire toasting marshmallows. A truly relaxing and healing few days. Thank you Jan.

Wow, wow, wow. So we had a fantastic time at Kingfisher Yurt, relaxing under the Oak and Ash trees. Swimming pond was perfect. Yurt was really comfortable and the kitchen was fab for dining and playing games, We hired the hot tub, which was also lovely. Jan was a perfect host. We shall be back.

I stayed in Gosels as a private pitch and absolutely loved it. The campsite was perfect blend of eco/modern (compostable/flushable toilets and hot showers) within a tranquil setting. I liked how the campsite was used in a traditional sense for escape keeping noise and disturbance down to a minimum. The quarry lake was a great area for a splash around and cool down. Though used heavily by young families, had enough space for all. I already miss my chicken and rabbit friends seen daily on my pitch. The location of the site was perfect for me to make some visits out to North Cornwalls surrounding beaches and beauty spots. Well worth the trip.

Look no further – just book it! The site was spotless and really well-kept, with a lovely play area that kept the kids happy. It’s perfectly located, close to amazing spots like the rocky valleys and Tarr Steps, with stunning surroundings all around. We are lucky enough to have a wide variety of wildlife on our farm including tawny and barn owls, deer, buzzards, pheasants, swallows, bullfinches, fieldfares and numerous bats, butterflies and beetles! Take a look at our Wildlife page. We follow a grass-fed, low input, regenerative agriculture philosophy. This means that (apart from our bulls, rams and boars which have to be bought in to prevent in-breeding) all of our animals are born on the farm. They stay with their mothers’ as long as possible growing well on their mothers’ milk and our beautiful grass. Apart from our pigs, all of our animals are only fed grass from the farm or hay (from our species rich hay meadows) in winter. We believe this is more sustainable, gives us a minimal carbon footprint and provides our animals with the best possible lives.
