Marten River Escapes offers six waterfront campsites with 30 amp hydro service and three non waterfront campsites, one with 30 amp and two with 50 amp service. A couple are seasonal sites, most are transient sites. All have access to potable water faucets. A shared comfort station with flush toilets and showers with hot on demand water is centrally located. There is no sewer connections but we do have a honey wagon and guests can access dumping into our onsite septic tank. We also have one rustic glamping cabin in the campground area and a new 14 unit building under construction on the southeast portion of the property. There is an on site restaurant offering dine-in, patio seating, and take out service. (seasonally operated - hours vary depending on the season) In addition to the amenities available on the campsite you will also have access to enjoy the common shared areas of the property. Our property boasts 1000' of waterfront surrounded by crown land. We have a new shared dock with Muskoka chairs and a (typical Northern Ontario) swimming area in our semi-secluded bay. We recommend water shoes for those who go swimming and to bring a fishing rod (and fishing license) if you want to give that sport a go. A sunshade pergola was just added to the main dock area with several other seating areas scattered around the property providing relaxing water views and spectacular sunsets, all available for your enjoyment. There is a large open area to enjoy a game of frisbee or other lawn games. We also have a few water toys. A canoe, a kayak, a peddle boat and two small (fishing type) motor boats are available for a small rental FEE. You must have a valid boaters license in order to be able to rent the motor boat. All water equipment renters must sign a renters agreement prior to use. Due to sizing and proper fit, for safety we do recommend guests bring their own life jackets/pfd's but we do have some that can be used. We have a private boat launch and for a small extra fee you can reserve a dedicated boat slip space during your stay for your own personal watercraft. Boats or other water toy equipment are NOT to be left on the shore. A few local public boat launches into different lakes are also nearby. For those powersports enthusiasts (ATV's, SXS etc.) there are 100's of km's of crown land trails accessible from our property. We do NOT rent ATV's. There is space to park ONE passenger vehicle along with your rv/trailer or tents on each campsite. VERY large trucks will limit the usable lawn space available on the site. Extra passenger vehicles and/or equipment trailers must park in overflow parking.

Our campsites are large and a minimum of 50 feet between sites, some even 75′. Our remote off grid property in the forest east of Eagle Lake is a great place to disconnect and decompress. The roadside Bunkie sleeps 2 comfortably and can accommodate a RV trailer or tent as well. Pets are welcome.  The property has a pit toilet, and campfires are allowed in the designated pit. There is also potable water in the bin with an outdoor kitchen and BBQ area. In the winter water would have to be stored inside. Linen not provided. You’ll wake up surrounded by trees and can explore the great hiking, nature viewing, atv trails and boating in the summer months. In the winter enjoy glaming in the propane heated bunkie, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snow machine trails at the door. Wildlife is all around.  Several lakes and parks are nearby, including Mikisew Provincial Park on Eagle Lake, about 20 km south, where you can go boating, paddling, or swimming and Algonquin Provincial Park is close as well with many lakes and hiking trails. Some restaurants and stores can be found in the South River, about 20 km away.

We are located in Calvin Township, between North Bay and Mattawa, on the fringes of Algonquin Provincial Park. The growing farm currently covers 1.5 acres of our scenic property. We grow a wide variety of crops here—from fresh asparagus and greens in early spring to juicy raspberries in midsummer, ending the season with potatoes and onions to cook over the fire at your private campsite. It was amazing! The bunkie was adorable and even in the middle of winter they accommodated. In the winter months the access road turns into an OSFC trail! That was a bit of a shocker but we made it and it seems as though Michelle keeps it fairly maintained up until the bunkie, so thank you. Also looks like Theres a lot more to offer when Theres no snow. Definitely coming back in the summer

We loved camping on Jen’s land! The directions were clear, the trailer was very clean, cozy, and very comfortable. My kids loved seeing the farm animals and we all loved hiking to the waterfall and seeing the beautiful views of nature. The bonfire with marshmallow roasting was a highlight too!

We rented a trailer at Kim's campground, and the amazingly everything was tidy and clean and Kim responded promptly to our requests, it was just three of us and we rented a 6 person trailer, ample space, equipped with heater and fridge lots of lighting. Kim's attitude was friendly and assuring that if you have a problem that can be addressed she will attend to it. She had a stargazing activity set up for everyone. I strongly recommend this camp ground. P.S: the power outlets don't work in the trailer and for you to be able to charge your phone you sould have 12v plugging.

The area is gorgeous, and we enjoyed hiking trails in the area and sightseeing. There is also a town close by with everything you need. I highly recommend.

Jennifer is lovely! So helpful & great service. The property is beautiful and off the beaten track. If you want to get away from people and unplug, this is the place for you! When the description says no cell service, it’s not kidding. I did a solo trip, and to contact my husband I had to drive about 8 minutes up the road on hwy 533 just to get 1 or 2 bars of service. Some things to be aware of - the Little Dipper dome is right next to the Big Dipper dome. There’s a swath of trees between the two sites, but they don’t really provide much of a sound barrier (good privacy, though). Unfortunately, my neighbouring campers were quite loud, which wasn’t ideal. It’s worth noting, that in summer (I stayed in July), the dome gets uncomfortably hot inside during the day, even with the screen door open, air vent on, and curtain closed and stays that way through the entire day, until the cooler morning/evening hours (enjoyable inside when cooler). The hosts provide all the essentials, which is awesome! The composting toilet did not smell at all, and was clean/no flies. I loved the nature sounds very much. The only thing I didn’t like, was the amount of bugs. Bugs don’t usually bother me, but even with bug spray they were incessant, which ruined my plans to soak up nature while there - since the nature experience was my whole reason to go, I was a little disappointed by that. But I definitely will stay again, maybe in a different season (when there’s less bugs).

Directions from the pin is a little off but Michelle and Carlton are very responsive and got us to the site very easily. Heater works wonderfully even on the low setting. Grill at the site worked too and was super grateful for the propane provided. Enclosed shower outside works hot and cold. Owners will provide directions on how-to. King lake road looked beautiful for walking and very secluded, all Fall season campers would enjoy this spot very much.

We really enjoyed our time at this beautiful and peaceful forest escape. The nights were cool, but the propane heater heated the whole space up quickly and effectively. The upstairs bed was comfortable and peaceful looking out over the trees. I spent most of my time in the hammocks. We appreciated the battery powered pump water in the outdoor kitchen. Thanks again to Michelle and Carlton for sharing their space.

This is the second time I've been to the cabin. New upgrades: a propnane-heated hot shower with 2 intake knobs that must be turned on and hot/cold temperatures adjusted; a battery-powered faucet that draws water from a spring water bottle; extra battery for charging smartphones and even computers. My visit was in early October and fall colours were in mid season. So photo opporturnites. Rye Road or King Lake Road which the site is located looked amazing. To operate the propane heater, hold down the right knob and turn to Pilot, hit the Ignite button repeated until there's a fire, keep holding Pilot knob for 30 seconds and release, then hold down Pilot and turn counterclockwise to adjust temperature. Don't forgot to open a window.

This lodge is even better than it looks in the pictures. We had the best quiet time in the perfect woods. I was worried about the kitchen and shower but it was more convenient than I expected. I would give it a 10 out of 10 and will be back during the fall leaves season. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some quiet time. We also loved paddling on Eagle Lake, which is a 10 minute far.
