10/10 the best place to stay on Manitoulin! I loved my tipi, the ranch, the campfires, the beautiful animals and peace and quiet so much that I extended my two day trip to five days. Jeff is an excellent host - attentive, friendly, gives you plenty of advice on what to see, and allows you to have all the space you need to truly unwind.
He’s also though of absolutely everything so there are very private flushable toilets, warm showers, a kitchen with all the tools you need to cook bake and BBQ, and a communal campfire each night if you feel like joining.
I would recommend the Kicking Mule Ranch to anyone looking for an opportunity to experience the island, rather than simply visit it. I can’t wait to return!

Very welcoming host showed me around The Kicking Mule Guest Ranch which was bigger than expected. Beside my assigned tent, there are other tents, houses, a hot shower, a toilet, a kitchen, an outdoor firepit, etc. Electricity available. Parking by the tent. A western feel to the whole place. Even the lighting. I'd recommend spending at least 2 nights there since the site is on Manitoulin Island which has plenty of things to see.

I had such a great time at Kicking Mule Ranch! IIt was a peaceful place surrounded by beautiful nature. Jeff is a fantastic host and made sure that nothing was missing. I loved the energy and is was just the best experience!! Highly recommend Jeff's ranch!

Jeff runs a very chill guest ranch. Plays guitar at the nightly campfire. Great community with people I just met. Tipi was comfortable - for a tipi!

My grandson and I really enjoyed our time at Lewy's Teepee at The Kicking Mule Ranch. The owners are both relaxed, kind and helpful, and ensure you are well taken care of.
The washroom was very close to our teepee, was very clean, and even had flush toilets!
The nearby outdoor kitchen had a propane fireplace to take the morning chill off, with grills to use for toast, as well as every possible kitchen item you could need. You can even label a shelf in the fridge on which to store a few items during your stay! The tap water is not drinkable, but you are welcome to use the bottled water jugs supplied for drinking.
Jeff keeps the kids happy by letting them feed the chickens in the morning, and entertains the adults around the campfire in the evening.

The Kicking Mule Ranch was one of our top spots of our vacation, Best place my grandma and I have stayed in a very long time!
Location was convenient, environment was great! Community was awesome! Everyone was super friendly animals included! We had a blast staying at the property! We did get to stay for 2 nights once in a Tipi and once in a cabin and both great experience! We will definitely be coming back in the future!

We drove in and thought the place looked really cool. It had a true Western feel. It definitely exceeded our expectations. Accomidations were addescribed and the host were great. Loved the outdoor kitchen and community firepit. Everyone and host alike were very friendly and would highly recommend this adventure

This was a gem of a find!!! If you are going to go to Manitoulin Island, make sure you go here! The lodgings were comfortable( we stayed in a tipi!) and the hosts were available, kind and very hospitable!!! I’m coming back for sure. Thaks for the memory!!!

One of the coolest places I’ve stayed! The hosts were so welcoming and nice, they had a big campfire with music both nights I was there! The teepee was so much larger than I thought and the facilities were super clean. I loved the outdoor kitchen area with everything you could need AND THEY EVEN HAD COFFEE PODS FOR CAMPERS!! ❤️🥳 I will definitely be coming back when I’m on the island.

Jeff was a great host! Kicking mule was fun, clean, very accommodating and all around great vibe. Music by the fire and farm animals were all a nice touch. Would definitely recommend!

Loved staying in Lewis Tipi! The hosts were wonderful and it was lovely to see the whole family working together. The community kitchen was great for cooking and being able to have to just bring the food was awesome. The nightly fire and guitar playing was a highlight of our trip. The animals on the farm were such a nice surprise. The trails throughout the property to the horseback riding and food stand were great.
Cannot wait to return and check out the other accommodations on the property like the covered wagon, other tipis, etc. Real toilets and shower was a lovely bonus.

We love it!!
It was very peaceful and relaxing.
The camp is very fun! We found it on hip camp and we’re very surprised when we arrive about how nice and quaint it is. Clean and comfortable accommodations and the grounds are also super clean.
The host, Jeff, is such a welcoming and friendly person. He goes out of his way to make you feel at home. His son, Brock, is great guy to spend time chatting with.
The store is full of interesting things, including local crafts and art.
There are chickens wandering about and you can buy eggs for breakfast. You can pet the sheep or wander to the range next door to pet the donkeys, rabbits and horses.
A bonus is that Jeff makes a big pot of coffee each morning and starts a fire for the guests. We are not normally interested in the social part of travel but this place made it easy to meet others and share a fire.
You can camp or stay in a Bunkie or teepee. All are nice.
Showers and bathrooms are clean and well maintained.
We stayed an extra night and will be back.

We loved tipi camping at the Kicking Mule Guest Ranch! The accommodations were so unique but also very comfortable. Everything we needed was available and kept clean. Jeff and Billy Joe were so friendly and we would stay again if we're ever in the area!

Staying here was a wonderful experience. It was a family visit feeling. The tipi was a cozy and comfortable sleep that was nice and dry even with overnight rain. Communal campfire are an option to meet ppl from all over. A great jumping off point to explore the eastern island and only 10 minutes from the ferry terminal. Can't say enough good things about Kicking Mule Ranch!

Our stay at the ranch was absolutely magical! We were on a mother/daughter trip and our one night in the tee pee was our favorite night of our whole trip! Every single thing was perfect! We wish we could have spent longer and cannot wait to go back!

Such a great place. The vibes are amazing and it feels like an extension of home. We stayed for one night but I wish we had more time, the outdoor kitchen had everything we needed, the bathrooms and shower were spotless. Lots to do in the area and the location was great. Lovely family owned ranch. Planning on visiting again soon. Oh, and the thing that stood out the most is that the host was actually a host, some people prefer contactless check in but Jeff had all the answers to our questions and suggestions for things to do. There’s a little store and he has pamphlets and maps to help better assist trip planning.

Loved our stay! Hosts were both very welcoming and made us feel comfortable. We stayed in Lewis Tipi - which is perfect for two people! Showers and washrooms were available right outside our tipi and everything was kept very clean! Although we only stayed one night, if you plan on staying more, there is a full kitchen, bbq, anything you would need to cook yourself a nice meal! Thank you Jeff and Bobbi-Jo!! We will definitely tell our friends about you and hopefully be back one day 😊

If you have a chance to stay here I would highly recommend it. From the spotless facilities to the unique little cabins and tipis throughout the property an absolutely charming place to stay. Loved the community kitchen which was a great addition to our stay. From the moment we pulled in to the time we left the absolute care and kindness that was shown from the the hosts is incomparable. Our tipi was setup beautiful with a charming, a welcome plaque waiting for us. Access to power and info on local attractions was a great benefit. Highly highly recommend this place to anyone you won't be disappointed. We can't wait to go back and will be booking again soon. Thank you for everything.

it’s like a little town they have everything g the host was amazing super chill and easy to talk to. The teepee was an amazing experience the hot shower was a lovely surprised bc it did get nice and hot and it was ran off solar panels ! The animals are adorable and so sweet 😍 at nignt you can hear a whipper will it was so relaxing to pass out 🥰 Definitely stay there again!
