Enjoy a tranquil getaway along the Bella Coola River's north shore on the sunny side of the Bella Coola valley, in the desirable neighbourhood known as 'Sunny Saloompt.' Nestled amongst old growth trees, this camp is atop a high bench overlooking the Bella Coola River, with a small side channel running alongside it. The clearing boasts panoramic mountain views, overlooking a field that is oftentimes home to horses, and it is an ideal starting point for all adventures - fishing, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, ocean and river excursions. Despite its immersion into nature, it is only a 10-minute drive to the Bella Coola airport, a 5-minute drive to the nearest store and gas station in Hagensborg, and a 2-minute drive (or an easy walk) to Saloompt Forest Trail, an interpretive trail with massive firs, cedars and spruce, and the Saloompt River, where salmon abound. How to get here: Saloompt Road is 23.5 miles (37.8 km) west of Stupendous Viewpoint” and 2.0 miles (3.2 km) west of Nusatsum River Bridge. From the beginning of Saloompt Road, it is 0.8 miles (1.3 km) to the middle of the Hagensborg bridge (that crosses the Bella Coola River), and from there it is 0.6 miles (1.0 km) to the property entrance on your left, just after the neighbour’s standing basketball hoop at 2464 Saloompt Road, and immediately after the Hipcamp sign in the trees. One of the most beautiful spots I have camped. The river is gorgeous and the spot is quite, private, and comfy.

We had a great time staying at Lawrence and Julia’s land! What a beautiful slice of nature with so much to explore! We had the camp area to ourselves with the occasional visit from their lovely horses! Will absolutely stay again next time we visit Bella Coola area!

The campsite is great with an amazing view and nice hike trails. Lawrence & Julia are also great host, I recommend!

Lawrence and Julia’s land is peaceful and the views are stunning. Well taken care of, secluded but close to amenities and great swimming holes. We definitely recommend their place if you are in Bella coola or saloomp

Perfect for us
Bella Coola Riverside Camp
It was the perfect place for us because it was close to the hiking trails we’d chosen and it was on a creek which we used to rinse our coffee mugs in the morning. Also, we have two dogs who are very high alert when there are people around but we had the campground mostly to ourselves what made it a very relaxing and easy going experience. Bella Coola Riverside Camp
This property had great views and was conveniently located near a grocery store as well as many trails and other outdoor experiences. We originally booked for one night, but ended up coming back again at the end of our backwoods camping trip because it was so peaceful there and easy to get on the road in the morning. Hosts communicated well and the property was set up thoughtfully for guests.

Quiet mountain camping.

Bella Coola Riverside Camp
This was so private and quiet. Truly felt like outback camping. The views were amazing, and we found a [cold] swim spot about two minutes drive down the road. The bugs were out after 6pm but so were the birds and the cute chipmunks. Julia and Lawrence gave us great directions and althpugh we never even offered help if we needed information about the area.

Awesome spot. Gets you away from the public sites and you get a large field along the river. Great view of the river and the mountains. Firewood provided but I visited during a fire ban unfortunately.

Hello, there is no signage at the place, we arrived at the neighbors who agreed to open the rope for us. There is nothing in the place but grass and a pile of wood for the fire. (which in general is not allowed to light a fire...) Even though we paid in advance, we left the place and went to another camp for overnight parking.

We had a lovely stay at Lawrence and Julia’s Riverside campsite. We had the place to ourselves, it was beautiful, clean, and so picturesque. Would come again!
