Welcome to our farm! Located on 153 acres of land, the Domaine de la Templerie is first and foremost a Table champêtre. To have a rustic table, a good majority of the products served in the restaurant must come from the farm. This is why you will find on site a farm with wild boars, geese, ducks, guinea fowl, pheasants, capons, turkeys and many other animals! We transform our product at the farm and sell them at the farm too. We also have a soccer field, volleyball court and horseshoe pit. * Version française * Bienvenue à notre ferme! Camp, Ottawa river, Grenville C-O-G

11 sites ¡ RVs, Tents59 acres ¡ Brownsburg Chatham, QC
We're opening a couple of sites early, in time for the solar eclipse. Come and enjoy a traditional/rustic camping experience along-side the mighty Ottawa river. Be sure to bring your canoes or kayaks, or you may rent ours. C-O-G is located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario. This beautiful (mostly) deciduous forest (situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais), has been in the family for generations. The 59 acre property (50 acres on land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and more, with many other outdoor tourism attractions (white water rafting ~15kms, Parc Omega (zoo)) located nearby. By paddle boat, canoe, or other similar shallow depth water craft, one can head upriver, around an island, and loop back through the remaining historic canal. ...It's a historic lazy river! Many amenities are only 1-3km away, such as a gas station (with fast charging), a grocery store and many restaurants including a Tim Hortons and McDonalds. A little History... Our property has played host to a small portion of the rich history of this area which included three railway tracks, a canal and a lock. The railway beds remain and the lock has simply been flooded over. Following the war of 1812, three Ottawa river canal systems were constructed between 1819 and 1833 to bypass the Long Sault Rapids on the Ottawa river. These canals were in use until 1961 when a large portion of the canal system was submerged due to the construction of a hydro-electric dam (~22kms downriver) at Carillion. As a result, the river level at our property rose high enough to submerge the top of the lock walls by ~3.5 feet. This submerged lock is located a few hundred feet offshore and can be seen using Google Earth as it measures 50' x 300' in size. Once you have a good idea where it is, throw on your water shoes and a life jacket and enjoy an interesting experience of walking on the walls of a submerged lock.

The best camping near Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal National Historic Site guide

Overview

About

The upstream jetty is closed. You can get more information here. Located west of Montreal, the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal connects Lake Saint-Louis and Lake des Deux-Montagnes. Opened in 1843, this waterway played an important commercial role in the shipping of lumber and the transport of immigrants. Today, the canal and its lock are used primarily by recreational boaters.

When to go

The best time to visit the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal National Historic Site is during the warm summer months, from June to August, when the canal is bustling with activity. The shoulder seasons of spring and fall offer a quieter experience. Winters can be harsh, with the canal closed to navigation.

Know before you go

  • Ensure your safety by staying clear of the lock to avoid the risk of falling.
  • Check the complete schedule for hours of operation before planning your visit.
  • Accessibility is a priority, but always verify the current conditions.
  • Visitor facilities are available; make use of them to enhance your experience.
