Camping near Oberlin guide

Overview

Camping near Oberlin inspires even the most daring of thrillseekers. About 40 miles east of town, Louisiana’s Chicot State Park boasts a rugged mountain biking trail around the 20-mile Lake Chicot. After a ride through a beech-magnolia forest surrounded by herons and bobcats, take a dip in the Olympic-sized swimming pool or splash around the water playground to cool off. Camping opportunities run the gamut from basic backcountry campsites for off-the-grid escapes to a well-appointed deluxe cabin rental complete with cookware and linens. An RV site with water and electrical hookups is also available. For more excitement, head north to the Calcasieu Ranger District of Kisatchie National Forest. Anglers can test their skills bank fishing for largemouth bass at Fullerton Lake. Or traverse the Claiborne Multi-Use Trails for hiking, horseback riding, and ATV and dirtbike riding through pitcher plant bogs and longleaf pines. RV and tent camping amenities here include picnic areas, fire rings, flush restrooms, and a convenient boat launch for water access.
