The best camping near Warwick

·

Set in the foothills of the Appalachians, Warwick is a sweet little town known for two things: Cheese (as there are a lot of producers in and around town) and the fact that it keeps winning provincial "town in bloom" contests. In addition to these quirky claims to fame, Warwick houses several parks, a covered bridge that crosses the Pine River, and a historic train station that has been converted into a rest stop for the many cyclists who explore this region by bikepacking and camping along the way.

This rare urban site acknowledges our Abenaki heritage, who camped and lived along these shores for centuries. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT SELF CONTAINED CAMPERS THIS YEAR. WE CAN'T SUPPLY OR SUPPORT TOILET FACILITIES THIS YEAR. VEUILLEZ NOTER QUE CETTE ANNÉE, NOUS N'ACCEPTONS QUE DES CAMPEURS AUTONOMES. NOUS NE POUVONS PAS FOURNIR NI ENTRETENIR DE TOILETTES. Our beautiful urban location near highway 410 and Bishop's University, directly on St. Francis river, makes it an exceptional starting point for cyclists who want to enjoy the Route Verte path; fish, canoe, kayak or tube the river or simply explore all Sherbrooke has to offer.  Our birdlife is amazing and is a recognized birding location by provincial authorities, especially for swallows and chimney swifts. A fire pit will be made available, in respect of all fire bans, with firewood available for purchase. In 1910, Agriculture Canada set up a research centre that operated until the 1950's. The property was sold to a family that emigrated to Canada from Europe, to set begin a new life post WW2. In 2015, I purchased the property to return it to its roots - regenerative farming, training, hospitality, poverty relief and healthy living. Be our guest at The Farmhouse, a vibrant small-scale farm with a heart for the earth and its people. (https://www.thefarmhouse.store) Seasonal, fresh farm produce will be available for purchase as well as guided garden tours.   Located within 5 minute walking distance to Lennoxville (Bishop's University).  It's perfect for campers who like to experience "urban" camping. Some road noise. If you are concerned about the weather, the site provides the use of a 8 sleeper tent trailer for your convenience. During the day, you are welcome to relax in it too. Portable water will be provided, but bring your own drinks if possible. As a bonus treat, you are welcome to sleep in a very HIP camper, a 1980 retro dodge camper van.

The best camping near Warwick guide

When to go

Much of Warwick is open year-round, and the greater Centre-du-Québec region serves as a recreation destination even through winter with ski hills and trails. Summer is prime for hiking and water activities in the lakes and waterways, while spring can be wet.

Know before you go

  • Because of Warwick’s proximity to Montreal, cell service is usually pretty good. However, once you get into national parks and more remote areas of the region, service can be spotty (or nonexistent).
  • Warwick has an EV charging station.
  • In small Quebec towns like Warwick, you may find that fewer people are fluent in English. It can be a good idea to download a translation app on your phone just in case.
  • It’s going to be near impossible to get around this area without a vehicle—though plenty of campers explore this part of Quebec via its many cycle routes.
