Come and enjoy a traditional/rustic camping experience on the mighty Ottawa river. Be sure to bring your water shoes and a canoe or kayak, or you may rent one of ours. C-O-G is located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario. This beautiful (mostly) deciduous forest (situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais), has been in the family for generations. The 59 acre property (50 acres on land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and more, with many other outdoor tourism attractions (white water rafting ~15kms, Parc Omega (zoo)) located nearby. By paddle boat, canoe, or other similar shallow depth water craft, one can head upriver, around an island, and loop back through the remaining historic canal. ...It's a historic lazy river! Many amenities are only 1-3km away, such as a gas station (with fast charging), a grocery store and many restaurants including a Tim Hortons and McDonalds. A little History... Our property has played host to a small portion of the rich history of this area which included three railway tracks, a canal and a lock. The railway beds remain and the lock has simply been flooded over. Following the war of 1812, three Ottawa river canal systems were constructed between 1819 and 1833 to bypass the Long Sault Rapids on the Ottawa river. These canals were in use until 1961 when a large portion of the canal system was submerged due to the construction of a hydro-electric dam (~22kms downriver) at Carillion. As a result, the river level at our property rose high enough to submerge the top of the lock walls by ~3.5 feet. This submerged lock is located a few hundred feet offshore and can be seen using Google Earth as it measures 50' x 300' in size. Once you have a good idea where it is, throw on your water shoes and a life jacket and enjoy an interesting experience of walking on the walls of a submerged lock.

Juniper farms is our neighbor & they have a farm store & tea room you can walk to along with other farm stands near by. We do have veggies & flowers but at this time (due to an illness) we do not have animals at the farm. I’m the near future cows will be arriving however there’s sheep & cows & even a donkey at neighbouring farms. It has been said our farm has fairies but we’ll let you be the judge <3Learn more about this land:Only 30 minutes from Ottawa!We are a magical farm just a 7-minute drive & a 30-minute walk from Wakefield. Situated on 100 acres of rolling hills & pastures there’s plenty of space to choose from to camp out. Our main farmhouse is a private vacation rental home & our primary residence when not rented. We also have several apartments behind the house where our adult children live & work on the farm. We are private people but love sharing our special spot with fellow nature lovers. Tents, cars, and vans are welcome. Campfires permitted (within local regulations) Pets are welcome. Although we don’t have bathrooms, we do have plenty of lovely spots to camp out.Groceries and restaurants are only minutes from the site!

Stretching 80 km in circumference, Lac-Simon calls campers to its year-round beauty. Crystal-clear waters and the warm sands of the surrounding shoreline are hotspots for summertime activities, while campers can head from the beach to the treeline of the Laurentian Forest for hiking trails and wildlife. With tent sites, RV sites, cabin rentals, and unique getaways in the area, camping near Lac-Simon can be effortless. Despite its own endless adventures, Lac-Simon is also central to surrounding parks including Parc National du Mont-Tremblant (Mont-Tremblant National Park), Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle (Papineau-Labelle Wildlife Reserve), and Parc de la Gatineau (Gatineau Park).

Parc National du Mont-Tremblant

Hiking, biking, kayaking, and canoeing welcome campers to the peaceful and protected Mont-Tremblant. Sitting approximately 90 km northeast of Lac-Simon, this national park provides 1,510 square kilometres of natural paradise. Pedal through the park on a biking circuit or cast a line into one of 50-plus lakes available for day fishing. Offering over 1,000 campsites among its three sections, Mont-Tremblant National Park creates easy options to rest and recharge. Thrill-seekers can venture over to the Via Ferrata for a high altitude, steel-cabled cliff adventure overlooking the Diablo River.

Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle

Wander an hour west of Lac-Simon to the Papineau-Labelle Wildlife Reserve. Flowing with fish and diverse wildlife, campers are immersed in nature at every turn. Providing plenty of on-site accommodations from campsites to cabin rentals, campers can cozy in after long days or pack a picnic before heading off-site. The park also offers equipment rentals including canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, motor boats, and more to use on over 700 lakes.

Parc de la Gatineau

Head southwest to Gatineau Park along the Ontario border, where campers will find lush landscape trailing along the Gatineau River. Known as the green lung of the Outaouais, this biodiversity goldmine yields hills, forests, and water. Enjoy hiking, biking, canoeing, or skiing at this outdoor playground immersed in breathtaking views like the Pink Lake or Champlain lookouts. Walk through the Mackenzie-King Estate, home to the longest serving prime minister or explore the Abbey Ruins.
