You will have access to clean water to swim in (no soaps or detergents in the pond please, we also swim in the pond regularly so we might see you in there, the pond is about 40 meters from our house, no fishing in the pond), clean water to drink + wash dishes in, lots of safe flat parking for cars and camper vans, lots of safe flat grass for tents, a giant forest, views of a few beautiful horses doing their own thing on our pastures (do not feed them or go within the fenced off horse areas), loads of birds, dragonflies, butterflies and more! We require quiet after 9pm, and before 9am. No excessive substance use please. No substance use if you are going to swim. Private simple camping toilet/outhouse setup with view of nature. This place was peaceful and quiet, which is what I value most. I was there for a quick stopover so I only took a short walk in the bush. The hosts were friendly but not intrusive.

Weekend Trip to Hicks Haven

The Love Shack was super cozy and the hosts, Marilyn and Jim, were extremely welcoming and friendly. The Love Shack had everything we could possibly need, pretty much all we needed to do was pack our clothes and food. Upon arrival, we met with Marilyn and her fuzzy little friend, Maggie (she’s such a playful cutie). Marilyn shared with us some vegetables from her beautiful garden and also had a fireplace put it in for our stay (which we were extremely grateful for) as the place was getting a bit chillier now. And Jim lit us a lovely fire to enjoy in the night so we can keep warm while enjoying the quiet under the stars. Overall, the entire stay from beginning to end was amazing and we would absolutely be going again!

This is a really lovely spot with equally lovely hosts! There are few flat areas to park or set up a tent. They are close to the hosts home, but easy enough to find a spot and create a bit of a screen for privacy. The pond is delicious at the end of the day. We really enjoyed our stay!

Marilyn’s campsite is a slice of paradise. The land is stunning, peaceful, open, and full of life. But what makes it truly special is the warmth and kindness of Marilyn herself. She is a generous host, and I felt so welcomed from the moment I arrived. The fresh zucchini, jam, tomatoes, and cucumber she shared were absolutely delicious… grown with care and love. Every little detail made me feel connected to the earth and to the spirit of the place. My soul found peace here. Thank you, Marilyn, for creating such a beautiful space and sharing it so openly. Hicks Haven was everything we hoped for and more. Jim and Marilyn are the kind of hosts who make you feel instantly welcome — warm, generous, and full of local knowledge. Jim kindly stocked our firepit with wood each evening, and Marilyn even shared fresh produce from her garden, which was such a lovely touch. The trailer itself was impressively well-stocked — cooking utensils, coffee, sugar, and all the essentials were thoughtfully provided, making it easy to settle in and feel at home. We were especially grateful for the air conditioning during a heatwave, and the projector was a total bonus — perfect for cozy movie nights inside when the rain rolled in. One night, with Jim’s help, we even managed to set up the projector by the fire for an unforgettable outdoor movie experience under the stars. They gave us great recommendations for nearby spots to explore, and the location is ideal — just a short 10-minute drive to the Provincial Park beach, with the park pass included! The off-leash dog area at the beach was a highlight for my little guy, who had the time of his life running free. If you're looking for a peaceful, well-cared-for spot with thoughtful hosts and all the comforts of home, Hicks Haven is a fantastic choice. We’ll definitely be back!

Leila and Andrew are very warm welcoming hosts. The setting is very serene. Swimming pond, hiking and walking paths. Pathways and biking paths in close proximity for easy access. If you want a place that gives you the opportunity to get in touch with nature this is it. The tranquility and peaceful setting is a great way to truly get rejuvenated. We had an amazing day here. The trailer was cozy and cool, which is great with the summer heat. It was also very clean and neat when we arrived. The beach is only a few minutes away and we were allowed to borrow a Parks Pass which meant we could visit for which was great! Both of our hosts were very friendly and pleasant to talk to, and when we arrived Marilyn was there to greet us and show us around the property. Overall it was a great experience and somewhere that we would love to visit again.

What a hidden gem spot! Marilyn was such a generous gracious hostess. The property is well-maintained with beautiful gardens and lots of space to wander. The bed is so comfortable. It's brand new! Coffee and games and a cool projector for you to use! There are so many beautiful places to go outside and sit and enjoy the beauty. Delicious fresh veggies from the garden too! Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Weekend Trip to Sweet Pond Camping

We camped for one night out by the pond and it was beautiful! We walked through the woodlands and got caught in a rains storm which was magical as all the little frogs came out. We greeted the neighbours horses, swam lots in pond, ate dinner watching the turtles swim, and looked out at the stars and moon. The singing of the birds was glorious. The woods can get boggy - bring mud friendly shoes and lots of bug spray if it’s due to rain, the mosquitos are active by the pond at night. There’s a gentle car sounds every now and again from the in-road, and there’s a loud bullfrog so bring earplugs if you’re not used to wildlife sounds. Directions were super clear, we felt very welcomed. Would camp here again!

My dog and I had an amazing time, I arrived and was greeted by Leila and given a tour of the property. Another group was there for the day but everyone was super friendly and I felt very welcome. The rest of my stay was quiet and peaceful. we got direct sun the entire day so the pond was perfect to have to cool down. I felt very safe as a solo female and am looking forward to visiting again.
