This little cabin is so cute! I especially loved spending time with my family and my dog on the deck taking in the views. We were super comfortable sleeping in the loft and there was lots of room in the lower level for all three adults. Tom was very accommodating with our ever changing plans!

3 nights at Chapelwood Chalet

Amazing experience. Me and my partner stayed for three days in early September and it was such a cozy and comfortable stay. Is clean private and perfect for people that love the outdoors. Indoor wood fire was a great way to stay warm and made for amazing ambiance. Jake made the experience super easy and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Weekend Trip to Hicks Haven

The Love Shack was super cozy and the hosts, Marilyn and Jim, were extremely welcoming and friendly. The Love Shack had everything we could possibly need, pretty much all we needed to do was pack our clothes and food. Upon arrival, we met with Marilyn and her fuzzy little friend, Maggie (she’s such a playful cutie). Marilyn shared with us some vegetables from her beautiful garden and also had a fireplace put it in for our stay (which we were extremely grateful for) as the place was getting a bit chillier now. And Jim lit us a lovely fire to enjoy in the night so we can keep warm while enjoying the quiet under the stars. Overall, the entire stay from beginning to end was amazing and we would absolutely be going again!

This place is a hidden gem! An off grid cabin with all of the comforts of home. Jake has thought of everything, hot water shower, wood burning stove, water coming from the tap, what more could you ask for! You even get lights at night. Can’t wait to go back!

Weekend Trip to Maitland River Campground

I’ve have come to Cardinals Nest twice and both times I have loved it. The cabin is beautiful and spacious, and hosts have all basic amenities you need in it. They also have started adding water jugs to the cabin which was super helpful. There is a nice stream for puppers to play in and a ton of room to roam/ hike. Cabins are spread out so you don’t feel cramped. Very highly suggest !

Marilyn’s campsite is a slice of paradise. The land is stunning, peaceful, open, and full of life. But what makes it truly special is the warmth and kindness of Marilyn herself. She is a generous host, and I felt so welcomed from the moment I arrived. The fresh zucchini, jam, tomatoes, and cucumber she shared were absolutely delicious… grown with care and love. Beautiful and cozy space! Right near the lake, a walk down the road there, perfect place to swim and cool off on the summer days. Nice spot for campfires at night. Brought e-bikes and explored the back country roads but there’s nota of trails around as well to be discovered. Definitely recommend!

Jake was a great host! He was friendly and showed us around the chalet when we first arrived. The chalet was very well maintained with all the basic amenities needed for glamping. The site was very private and the property was beautiful. We brought our dog along and he had the time of his life being able to be off leash the entire time. Highly recommend, we will be returning.

4 nights at Hicks Haven

Hicks Haven was everything we hoped for and more. Jim and Marilyn are the kind of hosts who make you feel instantly welcome — warm, generous, and full of local knowledge. Jim kindly stocked our firepit with wood each evening, and Marilyn even shared fresh produce from her garden, which was such a lovely touch. The trailer itself was impressively well-stocked — cooking utensils, coffee, sugar, and all the essentials were thoughtfully provided, making it easy to settle in and feel at home. We were especially grateful for the air conditioning during a heatwave, and the projector was a total bonus — perfect for cozy movie nights inside when the rain rolled in. One night, with Jim’s help, we even managed to set up the projector by the fire for an unforgettable outdoor movie experience under the stars. They gave us great recommendations for nearby spots to explore, and the location is ideal — just a short 10-minute drive to the Provincial Park beach, with the park pass included! The off-leash dog area at the beach was a highlight for my little guy, who had the time of his life running free. If you're looking for a peaceful, well-cared-for spot with thoughtful hosts and all the comforts of home, Hicks Haven is a fantastic choice. We’ll definitely be back!

The Cottage is really cozy. It has just the right mix of Off the Grid, with the modern amenities that are integral for comfort. The property is crisscrossed with some Fantastic Parklike trails. Jake is an amazing host, he has thought of everything that you would need for an enjoyable stay. Thank you, for a fantastic time, Jake.

Weekend Trip to Free To Wander

We had an amazing weekend here! The converted bus is cozy, beautifully decorated, and filled with thoughtful touches like games, books, and comfy seating. The peaceful location and fire pit made for the perfect escape to relax and enjoy nature. Highly recommend this unique and charming getaway!

3 nights at Chapelwood Chalet

We had the best time here! Jake met us on arrival to show us a few things and was so kind in giving us from fresh garlic he had grown and some home made strawberry jam (which was incredible)! The chalet its self did not disappoint it was so well equipped and clean! So many times we have gone places and felt like they were cleaner when we left than upon arrival so this was amazing! The shower was 10/10 and a nice treat it worked perfectly. This chalet really has it all, peace and quiet, beautiful trails and views, comfy bed, space inside and dog friendly! Jake was so lovely and attentive and really makes you feel at home, you can tell the care he has for this space everywhere you look. We are already planning when we can come back up again as this will be a repeat spot we come to! Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us and the pups!

1 night at Hicks Haven

We had an amazing day here. The trailer was cozy and cool, which is great with the summer heat. It was also very clean and neat when we arrived. The beach is only a few minutes away and we were allowed to borrow a Parks Pass which meant we could visit for which was great! Both of our hosts were very friendly and pleasant to talk to, and when we arrived Marilyn was there to greet us and show us around the property. Overall it was a great experience and somewhere that we would love to visit again.

What a hidden gem spot! Marilyn was such a generous gracious hostess. The property is well-maintained with beautiful gardens and lots of space to wander. The bed is so comfortable. It's brand new! Coffee and games and a cool projector for you to use! There are so many beautiful places to go outside and sit and enjoy the beauty. Delicious fresh veggies from the garden too! Would stay again in a heartbeat.
