Offering a serviced camping site for tents for up to 4 persons, with a firepit, two hammock chairs, rustic toilet, cold (sun-warmed) shower in season, a large deck with bar-height table and two chairs, four lawn chairs, floating dock, garbage and recycling bins, canoe and private 1.5 acre lake! Parking is right at the campsite, following a 400m tractorway over grass. This tractorway enters and exits onto the county road independent of the host’s private home driveway.
Our small, bio-diverse farm is in a quiet location but only 10km from shops and cafes. Our property is run with minimal chemical inputs. The lake supports fish, turtles, thousands of tree frogs in the spring, and musk rat, woodland ducks, and heron. You may also see rare bobolinks, barn swallows, and bats in summer. Star gazing is very good, there is very little light pollution. Tall poplar trees provide shade and shelter as well as pleasant sounds of the wind.
Footwear is advised. Conditions underfoot are usually good, we do try to keep poison ivy in check but it does pop up here and there.

5G/LTE cellphone service is good for Bell, Rogers and Telus networks. We have 3 outhouses on the premises and an outdoor hot shower.
FREE Firewood can be gathered on the forest floor or pay for on-site pre-cut wood. Outhouses are close to campsites....but not too close 💩
Port Rowan is only 12 minutes away by car, most amenities can be purchased only 1 minute away at the local Busy Bee gas station.
We are situated in the middle of a Recreation Hotspot! Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer
We have some great watering holes nearby like burning kiln winery, hounds of Erie and Charlotteville brewing company.
Birders Paradise!
The ‘Long Point Birding Area’ in Norfolk County is one of Canada’s premier birding locales. With over 400 species of birds observed, Long Point looms large as one of the most exciting places on the continent to observe our rich birdlife.

For swimming we recommend the beautiful beaches in Rondeau Park, only a few minutes away! Also, you can walk or cycle to town for an ice cream or groceries.

Welcome to The Sanctuary.
This site is home to one of the oldest churches in Upper Canada, erected in 1860 as a Wesleyan Methodist church. The congregation was known for its “methodical” devotion to prayer and social justice, including support of the Underground Railroad. They were also famously teetotalers (no alcohol), and the church likely served as a local hub for the Temperance movement in 1800s Oxford Centre. In 1925, it joined the United Church of Canada, the curries congregation folded in 2021.
The sanctuary is still a sanctuary (for now). Guests are welcome to come in for a prayer or quiet time if needed, just ask!
The graveyard on site is decomissioned with the last burial taking place in 1921. Please respect those laid to rest here.
In 1970, an F4 tornado passed through Oxford County, approximately 1 km wide, and destroyed much of the surrounding area—except this church. The roof was lost during the storm, but the original stained glass survived. The tornado destroyed around 30 homes, and the nearby Anglican church, which was later rebuilt. Some grave markers were displaced into surrounding fields, and recovered pieces were returned and placed in a corner section of the graveyard. Rest in peace. Please respect the graveyard and do not set up camp beyond the graveyard as there are homes surrounding. You are welcome to pay your respects, but no disrespectful or harmful activity is permitted on this part of the land.
