Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield.  The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion.  It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort.  The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Today, the property is a thriving summer camp that also offers overnight tent stays with stunning lake views.

The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Come enjoy the peaceful tranquility of our rustic little Shack on the 113 acre farm of rolling hills + open fields set by the edge of the forest. Previously used as the hot chocolate shack for our tree farm business which has finished after a 30 year run. The Shack is completely "OFF GRID" and you can get a feel for staying amongst the sounds of nature and possibly find yourself shutting off your phone and really enjoying the quiet peaceful escape. Sitting by a bon-fire at night, with the stars bright in the dark sky. Enjoying a good book or a walk on the property looking out for Wild Turkey's, Coyotes, Raccoons, Ground hogs and a variety of Bird's. Take an evening walk to the top of the hill to catch a beautiful farm sunset over the corn fields. Local businesses nearby are Brooks Farm Playground and Market 2 min up the road. Rose Family Farm with fresh cut fries 4 min away. Musselman's Lake is a 6 min drive to enjoy the fabulous Fishbone on the Lake, casual outdoor dining. In nearby Stouffville find Timber Creek Mini Golf, Gallucci Winery, Willow Springs Winery + Tree top trekking at Bruce's Mill. With many hiking trails in the area including Eldred King Woodlands, Vivian forest Trails, Durham Regional Forest and almost directly across the road and slightly south of our property new York Region Forest walking/hiking trails can be accessed. Nearby restaurants in Ballantrae. In the quaint little town of Mt. Albert 5 min with an LCBO in it open till 8pm daily. Ballantrae Ultramar 6 min away also has an LCBO open till 11 pm daily. Uxbridge is nearby and a large variety of restaurants and shopping Lots to check out in the area, or simply stay put at The Shack and enjoy cooking a meal on the BBQ in the outdoor kitchen area (propane included) and relaxing by the bonfire (wood included). The Shack is equipped with some cooking items, pots + pans, BBQ and utensils, knives, cutlery, plates, coffee cups, bowls, glasses + (wine glasses) cutting board, tray, kettle and a small chest cooler to keep your food and drinks cold (you will need to bring the ice) Dish washing rack is provided, as well as large jugs of clean potable water for cooking/drinking and doing the dishes. Weekend Trip to Forest Cabin

The forest cabin was everything I’d hope for and more. I wanted a place to get away and reconnect with nature and that’s exactly what I got out of my stay. I went for hikes through the property, got to play with the sheep and the dogs! And like others have said in their reviews, by far the best outhouse I’ve ever soon! I would 100% recommend staying here! I’ll be back to check it out in the spring or summer!

Everdale is a special place! The straw cabin is simple, comfortable and so quiet! I felt safe as a person going there solo and walked their well loved and cared for land extensively. It was an education as well in that they have a regenerative farm. Being a long time gardener myself, it was interesting to read the sign posts on my walk explaining different aspects of regenerative farming and the lands ecology. I'll definitely come back and in the colder months, be sure you're comfortable keeping the woodstove going, you may need to split wood, etc. Also, being solar powered, if it's a cloudy day, the lights may go off early. I was glad I brought a battery operated lamp. Great place, great feeling there.!

Wonderful place for weekend getaway! Excellent privacy. Have garbage cans which is a huge plus. Most sites don’t offer them. Well decorated washroom, with sink and water. Off leash friendly, our dog was very happy. Most importantly there is this beautiful pavilion, with lights at night and big enough for at least 10+ ppl. Everything is just perfect.

We had such a great family weekend staying with Donna near Mono Cliffs! The spot was peaceful, clean, and perfect for our trailer. Donna was so kind and helpful — it was a busy weekend at the park, and she went out of her way to show us where the locals park instead of the main provincial park lot, which made things so much easier. The kids loved exploring and we enjoyed being surrounded by nature but still close to everything. We’d absolutely stay again — thank you, Donna, for making it such a relaxing and welcoming stay!

Beautiful, well maintained site. Great for big groups or off leash pets. Amanda has put a lot of work into making guests feel comfortable and welcome on her property. The outhouse, gazebo, volleyball nets and night lights all over the site are great. Also very close to Ganaraska forest for hiking trails. She was also very respectful of our privacy. Will be booking again!👍🏻

Wonderful setup and lovely location. Up on a hill surrounded by trees giving lots of privacy. Great clean and cozy outhouse/washroom facility. Lots of seating provided with brand new picnic tables for adults and kids. I am an avid kayaker and the Black River is just steps away. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back again.

Wow! We came in mid October to see the autumn colors. What a great experience! First off the hosts are amazing and very helpful. The lodge itself is very comfy, the bed is super clean and comfy as well. There's enough firewood for the whole stay (2 Nights). Oh and our dog loved it as well! The place is around 20 min drive away from any nature hike, and there are plenty in the area. Highly reccomend

What a great spot! The sunsets over the pond are incredible. Lots of flat spots for tents. Great hammock spots. The closeness to Mono Cliffs is amazing and Donna is super helpful in providing recommendations for hiking and parking. While the house is visible form the site. There is still a sense of privacy. Donna was attentive and helpful.

Weekend Trip to Three Ponds Homestead

We had an amazing time here. Wendi is super friendly and thoughtful, she checked what we needed and reminded us about the cold. The horse experience was the best part. Grooming them felt so calming and the horses are beautiful and very friendly. The firewood amount is really generous and lasts a long time. The campsite is spacious with lots of privacy. At night it was perfect for stargazing, I saw so many stars and even a few shooting stars. The toilet is very clean and everything here feels well cared for. I also admire how much Wendi and her family have built in just a few years, they are really living my dream life. Overall this was way better than camping in a provincial park. Highly recommend and I will definitely come back.
