Weekend Trip to Pat and Gerry's Simple Solitude

We were two couples each with 28ft trailers and the two sites were perfect sizes. The sites are a mix of gravel and grass surrounded by mixed forest and private. Pat and Gerry were both so welcoming and friendly. They provided us with a list of things to do and see in the area. We loved walking the country roads and trails and watching their beautiful, curious horses from a distance. A big shout out to Gerry for his quick and genuine help when we had a maintenance issue with our trailer on the day we left. Thankful to know there are good people out there still willing to lend a helping hand. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

We loved Everhill Farm. Our site was very private and right on the river which made it extremely peaceful, it was exactly what we were looking for. Josh and his family are wonderful people and we can’t wait to camp there again!

We had an incredible time staying at The Hideaway at Everhill Farm with our two dogs. Josh and his sons were super welcoming and helpful from the start, making us feel right at home. The property is beautiful! Our dogs loved playing in and around the creek and running freely around the open spaces. There’s a great trail right behind the site that we also enjoyed exploring. One unexpected highlight: we were invited to take part in a music video being filmed on the farm! It was such a fun and unique experience, and everyone involved was so kind, fun, and welcoming! Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with awesome hosts, plenty of room to roam, and an overall relaxing trip!

Weekend Trip to Pootcorners Alpacas

Amazing experience, communication was clear, we were warmly greeted upon arrival and owners made themselves available to answer questions about the alpacas and also for us to watch some shearing of alpaca wool. Lane 2 site is close to the main house but we didn’t feel that impacted the privacy- there are trees, the fenced alpacas and a clean outhouse nearby. The owners do need to be close to the site (to feed the alpacas 7am and 7pm), but they were not noisy- and I found them super approachable and allowed for me to start a conversation if I wanted. They have a super adorable dog on site who is not leashed but does not jump, bark, or beg for food. He was never underfoot and truly was a delightful bonus. We will be back!

I really enjoyed the location and the beautiful views. The host was cheerful and very helpful throughout our stay. However, there were a few downsides: the toilet was extremely dirty and unusable, so we had to go to Tim Hortons instead. The grass was overgrown, which made it difficult to enjoy outdoor games, though the host mentioned it would be mowed the following week. There was also some leftover garbage, presumably from the previous campers.

This place is a real treasure. Josh was a great host and has done a great job utilizing the flat grassy areas around the river. Well treed and very scenic. This would be a great spot for group camping. We will definitely come back .

A vibrant fish and wildlife scene, Goderich features year-round hunting and fishing (with proper permits), along with boating, tubing, or biking. Goderich lies in the path of various migrating birds, providing opportunities for birders to fill out their life list. Point Farms Provincial Park

Point Farms Provincial Park sits on a bluff with stunning views overlooking the water. Set up camp at one of the pull-through sites for car camping, RVing, or tent camping with electrical hookups and a short walk from water taps, comfort stations, free WiFi, and laundry facilities. Boating, biking, and birding for yellow bellied sapsuckers and orioles give campers plenty to do. Campers who plan to hunt should make sure to snag a small game hunting license for year-round hunting in the area.

Falls Reserve Conservation Area

Almost entirely surrounded by a loop in the Maitland River, Falls Reserve is an exciting family camping experience with a gorgeous natural backdrop—small waterfalls pouring over rocks with swimming holes below. Watch birds migrate in spring and fall, or take a hike through the dense 300-year-old oaks. Many campsites at Falls Reserve’s three campgrounds feature fire pits, picnic tables, and electrical, hydro, and water hookups with sewer access. Campers can pay for a day use pass at Fall Reserve’s entryway gate autopay box, or get a park membership pass for visiting any time of year.

Goderich Lighthouse

Guiding ships to safety since 1847, Goderich Lighthouse has a unique square shape that beckons visitors and locals alike to picnic and view stunning sunsets from 100 steps high. Hikers will enjoy Viewpoint Trail, culminating in a collection of original, historical cottages. Camping near the lighthouse includes glamping options close to Maitland River and Lake Huron’s shores.

Camping season around Goderich begins in May with Victoria Day and runs to October. Summer months are a popular time for camping and outdoor recreation, with average temperatures topping out at 24°C. With days stretching longer into nights, staying during summer also means the area’s notable sunsets are visible longer. For smaller crowds and cooler temps, plan to visit in spring or fall.
