Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Weekend Trip to Three Ponds Homestead

We, three moms looking for a little escape, couldn’t have picked a more perfect spot for our fall weekend. From the moment we arrived, everything about this place felt quietly magical. The setting is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, natural, restorative. The rustle of autumn leaves, crisp fresh air, and unspoiled surroundings made it easy to slow down and breathe. It’s rare to find somewhere so serene, where you can truly unwind. The host was thoughtful and attentive in all the right ways. The tent was comfortable and well-prepared; everything was clean, cared for, and exactly what we needed. The out houses were immaculate—so well kept that they felt more like a pleasant surprise than an afterthought. We left feeling refreshed, reconnected, and inspired. Thank you for the kindness, the care, and the chance to rest in such a lovely place. We very much hope to return!

5 nights at Maple Rivers Log Cabins

August 25 to 30th 2025 Second time up to Maple Rivers Log cabins, Sequin, Parry Sound. Was there last year. Cabin 3, Dariusz,s 3 cabins are set in a beautiful, serene setting surrounded by a mixed forest, of pines, maples, Birch..., they are off grid, nicely spaced , in the center a large community fire pit. Trails to follow to a deep gorge, shower, large fridge freezer to share with fellow hip camper,s, Large BBQ, outdoor sink, kitchen area to wash dishes. Some dishes to use. Garbage container. Pit toilet never smells. The host's friendly dog "Daisy" comes to play fetch with balls or sticks., Maple lake is 20 mins away as is Orrville general store. And Rousseau. Dariusz is very friendly host always willing to answer questions, fix any concerns. His wife is of great help as well. I highly recommend Maple Rivers Log Cabins, and will keep going back. Thank you Dariusz for your hospitality. Thanks for your company Daisy girl. And Tito, Daisy will teach you well. Blessings

4 nights at Maple Rivers Log Cabins

I loved my stay at the cabin! Although there is no electricity from the grid, Dariusz uses propane and solar cells to equip the camp with a fridge/freezer, hot water, and light, which I really liked. I loved Daisy, their female Border Collie; she protects the visitors during the nights by sleeping under one of the cabins, and she is a lovely companion during the day! Bring a ball, she loves playing with other dogs with the ball. My dog and I really enjoyed our week there: fresh air, quiet and rustic place, lots of hiking opportunities around, and off-leash walks/play on the property. Will definitely return next year.

This cabin is exactly what I needed. Just a slight glamp in the middle of the trip allowed me to reset and these cabins were perfect for it. There is no electric here of any sort so don’t plan on plugging anything in. Simple yet so much more fun than setting up a tent. Again. Bravo

Weekend Trip to Maple Rivers Log Cabins

Hidden gem! Dariusz was very quickly with responses, last minute we booked 2 cabins and both were incredible, there’s everything you can need here if you are unprepared, it’s quiet and even a friendly dog comes by every now and then, very nice dog and listen very good if you see the dog throw a stick, it loves fetch. Clean cabins, the outhouse was very clean as well. Highly recommend going here if you’re looking for a quiet but convenient get away. About 10 mins away is maple lake which had public access and you should go to as well!

Weekend Trip to Three Ponds Homestead

We stumbled upon this rustic glamping site by chance last year, and it was such a wonderful find that we couldn’t wait to return. This year, we came back with friends for a longer stay, and it was even better than we remembered. The setting is absolutely beautiful – peaceful, surrounded by nature, and perfect for truly unwinding. Wendi is lovely, welcoming, and always happy to help, which made the experience feel even more special. One of the highlights for us were the amazing horses they’re gentle, majestic, and added something magical to our stay. We can’t recommend this place enough if you’re looking for a unique, relaxing escape. We’ll definitely be back again!

Where to go

Manitoulin Island

Often described as Northern Ontario’s best-kept secret, Manitoulin Island is the largest freshwater island in the world—so large that it’s home to over 100 lakes itself! Visitors can check out several lighthouses, including the famous Split Rock Light, while photographers love the stunning lookouts on the island’s many hikes. Put the Cup and Saucer Trail on your list for incredible views. Additionally, the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation is an excellent place to learn about Indigenous culture.

Parry Sound

This town is a great base camp for those exploring the great outdoors. It’s home to an excellent selection of shops and services—from downtown, you can even catch a scenic boat tour of Georgian Bay or call an outfitter to arrange fishing, hiking, and ATV tours. A 10-minute drive away, Oastler Lake Provincial Park is a nice spot for family-friendly activities.

Wasaga Beach

Wasaga Beach has a reputation as one of the region’s best spots for outdoor enthusiasts to base themselves—and to party, if that’s your scene. Although once known as a bar-hopping destination, today the vibe is much more family-friendly and focused on nature. The town is home to the world’s longest freshwater beach and offers panoramic views of the nearby Niagara Escarpment. You can rent gear to try stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and windsurfing. There is also excellent hiking, most notably on the Nottawasaga Bluffs Trail.

Killarney Provincial Park

This park’s landscape is different from what you might expect. It’s home to iconic pink granite rock formations, something both hikers and photographers love. No wonder Canada’s Group of Seven painters (including A.Y. Jackson, Franklin Carmichael, and A.J. Casson) found inspiration here! There are ample opportunities for backwoods canoeing, hiking, and camping, as well as more accessible car camping sites and soft shelters such as yurts.

French River Provincial Park

Set along the French River, Canada’s first designated Heritage River, this Provincial Park offers a 65-mile canoe route of interconnected lakes, gorges, and rapids from Lake Nipissing to Georgian Bay. All camping here takes place in the backcountry with no advanced reservations.
