The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. The main floor has a pull-out double bed, and the loft has 2 sets of bunk beds, ideal for kids. The bathroom facility is a newly built very airy eco-outhouse - you will be pleasantly surprised! There is a sink to wash up, and an outdoor shower, but for now, only cold water is available. This an ideal family getaway or a romantic getaway, I look forward to hosting you!

The main floor has a pull-out double bed, and the loft has 2 sets of bunk beds, ideal for kids. The bathroom facility is a newly built very airy eco-outhouse - you will be pleasantly surprised! The cabin was charming and cozy, it came with various board games to pass the time and a telescope to enjoy the stars at night. The hammocks or what my partner and I call the nest was relaxing. We also had a golden retriever visit us on our 2nd and last day in the cabin. She was very friendly. If ever she does wander off on your visit, its the neighbor's dog, she is not lost, she's just enjoying the nature like the rest of us.

Weekend Trip to Cozy Cabin in the Woods

My wife and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at Sabrina’s cabin and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect—just a 10-minute drive from Rosseau, where we found a fantastic general store that had everything we needed (including firewood). We took our dogs to a nearby beach, grabbed great pizza at Rosseau Pizzeria on the boardwalk, treated ourselves to gelato, and browsed a charming antique shop in town. The cabin itself was amazing—extremely clean, cozy, and full of personality. Sabrina has thought of everything: a full-sized fridge, coffee maker, electric heater that kept the cabin nice and toasty, and even a whole upper loft we didn’t end up needing because the pullout couch on the main floor was perfect for us. Our big dog and mini poodle had plenty of space to stretch out too. The outhouse was surprisingly spacious and spotless, stocked with toilet paper and featuring a working sink with running water both inside and outside for washing dishes. We spent most of our time by the fire pit, which was large enough for a group and surrounded by ample seating. Between the two wooden picnic tables, the big deck, and the covered area with hammocks, there were endless spots to relax, cook, and enjoy the outdoors. Even though the cabin is just off a road, the trees and forest create a real sense of seclusion and peace—you quickly forget there’s any traffic nearby. Sabrina was extremely kind and welcoming, and we couldn’t have asked for a better host. We’d happily come back!

We had a great time at Light House Landing! We celebrated our 6th anniversary at the cabin and it was a great experience, we woke up every morning to a beautiful sunrise on the lake! Jim, Alyssa and Fran have created such a welcoming environment and were great hosts (like texting to tell us turtles were hatching on the beach one morning or showing us how to feed the chickadees). The cabins were very nice, clean and on the water. We would highly recommend this little slice of paradise

This cabin was the perfect little getaway for our artist retreat weekend! It's cozy inside and the space heater works very well! The outside has a lot of fun play structures and hammocks to let out your inner kid (or actual kids) and the twinkle lights add a touch of magic! I have been here a few times now and it keeps getting nicer every time! It shows that there is a lot of care and love that has gone into this place :) I highly recommend checking it out!

We rented a trailer at Kim's campground, and the amazingly everything was tidy and clean and Kim responded promptly to our requests, it was just three of us and we rented a 6 person trailer, ample space, equipped with heater and fridge lots of lighting. Kim's attitude was friendly and assuring that if you have a problem that can be addressed she will attend to it. She had a stargazing activity set up for everyone. I strongly recommend this camp ground. P.S: the power outlets don't work in the trailer and for you to be able to charge your phone you sould have 12v plugging.

5 nights at Maple Rivers Log Cabins

August 25 to 30th 2025 Second time up to Maple Rivers Log cabins, Sequin, Parry Sound. Was there last year. Cabin 3, Dariusz,s 3 cabins are set in a beautiful, serene setting surrounded by a mixed forest, of pines, maples, Birch..., they are off grid, nicely spaced , in the center a large community fire pit. Trails to follow to a deep gorge, shower, large fridge freezer to share with fellow hip camper,s, Large BBQ, outdoor sink, kitchen area to wash dishes. Some dishes to use. Garbage container. Pit toilet never smells. The host's friendly dog "Daisy" comes to play fetch with balls or sticks., Maple lake is 20 mins away as is Orrville general store. And Rousseau. Dariusz is very friendly host always willing to answer questions, fix any concerns. His wife is of great help as well. I highly recommend Maple Rivers Log Cabins, and will keep going back. Thank you Dariusz for your hospitality. Thanks for your company Daisy girl. And Tito, Daisy will teach you well. Blessings

I loved my stay at the cabin! Although there is no electricity from the grid, Dariusz uses propane and solar cells to equip the camp with a fridge/freezer, hot water, and light, which I really liked. I loved Daisy, their female Border Collie; she protects the visitors during the nights by sleeping under one of the cabins, and she is a lovely companion during the day! Bring a ball, she loves playing with other dogs with the ball. My dog and I really enjoyed our week there: fresh air, quiet and rustic place, lots of hiking opportunities around, and off-leash walks/play on the property. Will definitely return next year.

Incredibly comfortable and secluded cabin. Has everything you could need without plumbing. (Toilet that doesn't smell and works great, outdoor shower is to die for, large jugs of water with nozzles like a sink faucet) Makes everything feel like your off grid but still have amenities. Still feels so off grid and was just such a peaceful stay.
