1 site · Lodging5 acres · Rosseau, ON
Located in the area of Rosseau Ontario, this area is known for exceptional cottage experiences. A short 10-minute drive to many area lakes to explore and experiences offered in all seasons including fishing, and boating in Muskoka lakes in the summer, cranberry marsh experience in the fall, and snowshoeing, cross country skiing, biking in the winter- there is something for everyone to explore when staying in this area! Visit Seguin Township and Muskoka Township websites for full listings and details. The cabin is in the middle of a private 5-acre property across from Turtle Lake and spans turtle lake road, to Donnelly and Poke Road, so it’s easily defined by the roads around the land. There is no direct access to the lake, but there are many lakes and beaches within a short drive. There are also many quaint towns to visit, beautiful hiking trails to explore all nearby. The main floor has a pull-out double bed, and the loft has 2 sets of bunk beds, ideal for kids. The bathroom facility is a newly built very airy eco-outhouse - you will be pleasantly surprised! There is a sink to wash up, and an outdoor shower, but for now, only cold water is available. This an ideal family getaway or a romantic getaway, I look forward to hosting you!

Cedar Creek Forest Camping

11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents97 acres · Tay, ON
Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Guests are asked to remove excessive garbage and recycling when possible. Thanks for viewing and visiting, cheers and peace, Dave

Cabins near Parry Sound guide

Overview

Crisp waters, colorful trees, and outdoor adventures make up this tiny town on the eastern shore of Ontario. Sitting 225 km north of Toronto, Parry Sound offers access to Georgian Bay beaches, provincial parks, and winding islands along the shoreline. This small pocket of Ontario invites campers to explore acres of natural paradise with boat tours, hiking trails, scuba diving, and island cruises. Take in the area’s arts and culture by venturing downtown to The Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts or the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame. With tent camping, RV parks, cabin rentals, and glamping options, campers will find their perfect pathway through Parry Sound.

Where to go

Oastler Lake Provincial Park

Water warriors will love Oastler Lake Provincial Park—a short 11-minutes from Parry Sound. Designed for boating, canoeing, fishing, and swimming, campers can choose from many campsites in the park, including The Point Campground, a radio-free and free use location. Campers can also consider a waterfront site with panoramic views of Oastler Lake, best known for its rainbow trout. Nearby campgrounds feature ATV trails, mini golf, swimming pools, free wi-fi, and pet-friendly amenities.

Killbear Provincial Park

Birds, bikes, and hikes call campers to Killbear Provincial Park. Journey 32 km north of Parry Sound to find an irresistible site surrounded by water and wildlife like hawks, herrons, hummingbirds, warblers, woodpeckers, and wood thrushes (and chances to spot bald eagles in fall). A 6-km recreational trail, discovery programs, and sandy beaches at every campground make this a family-friendly oasis. With over 800 campsites across its grounds, campers will find everything from tree-topped hideaways to waterfront sites, full RV hookups, and cabin rentals.

The Massasauga Provincial Park

Sealing the stretch between Parry Sound and Moon River, The Massasauga Provincial Park’s vivacious views are in the heart of Georgian Bay country. Known for its backcountry camping, find sites throughout the inland forests and lakes, or paddle out to an island paradise. Rustle into rugged shorelines and spot the iconic windswept pines from comfort campsites with fire pits and picnic tables. Providing prime places to portage and many campsites to choose from, The Massasauga brings campers to secluded serenity in spring, summer, and fall.

When to go

To guarantee access to the many town highlights, visit Parry Sound in June, July, or August. Summer months offer idyllic warm temperatures for water activities, beachside picnics, and nights under the stars. However, the fall foliage can’t be beat for campers wishing to cozy up in cooler temperatures under a canopy of jaw-dropping trees. Similarly, the spring bloom in Parry Sound and nearby Muskoka provide waves of wildflowers as the temperatures begin to rise. While winter camping does exist, temperatures are consistently below 0°C and only await those prepared to brave the Canadian cold.
