This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. We sit on a 16 acre farm that is out in the country. We are 20 min to Markdale and Walters Falls, 30 min to Owen Sound, Durham and Flesherton, 1 hour to Collingwood and Sauble Beach. This is a one-room cabin that has hydro and a solar light if the power goes out. We have an outdoor facility (outhouse) with a camping toilet and a wash station with a little sink in it to wash up. There is the use of the BBQ on the deck with seating. There is a shared fire pit that you are more than welcome to use with firewood. There are four acres of woods to explore right beside Townsend Lake, a small, quiet lake perfect for canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The lake warms up quickly in the spring and is great to swim in. There is a cabin to sleep in and many camping items are provided, like a Coleman stove, tables, dishes, and a screen shelter. You will have access to the dock and a large fire pit area which are part of the owner’s cottage on the property. There will be a port-a-potty on site. Lake Townsend is close to several conservation areas and 12 minutes to the quaint town of Markdale with several shops, a bakery, and a large grocery store. The city of Owen Sound is 35 minutes away. Harrison Park and Inglis Falls are huge attractions in the area. Each area has its own beauty and the hiking path between the two is quite spectacular. Parts of the famous hiking trail, The Bruce Trail, are also easily accessible from Townsend Lake. But once you get settled in, you may just want to rest and relax at the lake! It has its own beauty and serenity and is home to many bird species and other wildlife. Cedar Acres is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy nature.

We loved Gillian and Jim’s property. Our stay could not have been better. Their hospitality and kindness went above and beyond. Their attention to the little things made all the difference. They aim to please by exceeding all expectations, more than any other host we have experienced. The three of us were very comfy and had lots of fun after dark by the fire and inside playing games. We got lucky with clear skies and sun. The stars were out and the sun in the morning was glorious. We only had time for one night but it felt like so much more. We will certainly be booking again and highly recommend to anyone looking to connect with Nature and relax.

We had an amazing stay at Carl’s place! The location is peaceful and beautifully maintained – it felt like having the whole forest to ourselves. The fall colors around the pond were absolutely stunning, and paddling there was pure calm. Everything was spotless, the hookups (including water) worked perfectly, and there was plenty of firewood ready for us. It’s a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy nature – we’d be happy to come back again!

Once you arrive, it’s just a short walk to your cabin surrounded by nature—and that’s really what this place is all about. You’ll have everything you need: water right in front, a cozy campfire, and even some games to make your stay more fun. The best part is the full privacy, since there’s only one cabin on the property, making the whole place yours. Jim and Gillian are so kind and helpful, which made the experience even better. What a way to end the camping season! We were fortunate enough to experience Spring, Summer and Fall on Carl & Marsha's gorgeous property! We also got to share it with our eldest son and grandkids and just finished another weekend with our youngest! Getting to watch the little animal family grow was an extra treat too! Baby sheep from last year are no longer babies, the babies from the spring have grown so much. Every trip was an amazing, much needed escape from "real life" and every season brought different views. SO many memories were made on this property this year and we are beyond grateful. Carl & Marsha are truly two of the kindest, most genuine, helpful people and we are so happy that we have managed to meet them and spend so much time on their property!! What a lovely weekend we had at Ivan's property 😀 He's a wealth of knowledge about native fruit trees & berries. The front of the property has an extensive orchard that Ivan has worked on for ten years. Check his booth out at the Meaford Farmers market if you have the chance! The campsite was in a lush grassy area neighboring a cover crop plot that provided lovely views. An old fire pit was provided and we made good use of it. The farm is close to town and you can easily make a visit to owen sound/ thornbury/ Collingwood to flesh out a full weekend trip. We had a blast and highly recommend 👌
